What a delight. This is a good place to get good home cooking. This is what your mama would make vs an elevated culinary experience. We were passing through town and stopped for lunch. It was a great local experience. The fries were fresh made, and the onion rings were nice. The BLT was awesome, and the burger was cooked well. If you found this review helpful, please give a 👍

We came in after our stay at the hotel across the street while riding the GAP. It was CASH ONLY the day we were there I don't know if this is normal but just be aware. It was the breakfast we had on the trail. Awesome place. Very clean. Wonderful prices. All the locals. Support the locals while riding the GAP. very welcoming to the bicyclists. Breakfast potatoes were just what I needed to hit the trail. I would go again the next time we come through on the trail.

We have been here a few times now since moving to the area. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming! Obviously loved by local folk and tourists alike. Great service, tasty food like you mom would make and reasonable prices. On our first visit there, I said to my husband “This is the type of place where you’re going to be asked if they can get you some pie”. It happened on our second visit 😊 Unfortunately we were too full from our breakfast, but the pie did look delicious! We couldn’t recommend this place enough for anyone looking for a local homestyle food diner!

We had their omelettes for breakfast, which were cooked to order. They were made with 3 eggs and fresh vegetables, and were really good. I also had a cup of black coffee which was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful when we asked about the town. We sat at the counter, and there were several tables inside and a few out front. At different times there were many riders from the GAP rail trail with their bikes parked out front.

Such a lovely place. Super good fresh cut fries and a very good sandwich. We came late as we had not checked their closing time. They served us anyway with a smile all the way.True gem!!!

Worst dinning experience of our trip to the area. Our waitress took our order and tables with more folks than the 3 of us were served first. Next a cheese omlette and toast was served on a saucer/ dessert plate. When I asked for extra napkins to put my toast on the waitress was not happy to oblige me but did. The omlette was so so. When we finished we waited for our check which never arrived. We went to the register, only to stand another 3 min while no less then 4 staff/ owners (assumtion) stood there. I had to ask for the check. At that point we were told they only took cash. A staff member turned to us and stated there is an ATM down the street. There was a sign by the register blocked if someone was standing there. But no other indication upon entering ( at the front door or outside) that they did not take cards. We had enough cash between the 3 of us. If it had been one of these issue I would chalk it up to bad or busy morning. But as "outsiders" to the area felt like we were bothering the staff eating there.

I'm first going to start with the positive because it was probably the best food I've had in the entire area. It took a little longer to get but was worth the wait. My only issue is that nearly $8 + coffee for a breakfast is a little much for bacon eggs and home fries and toast. I will reiterate however, that the food was excellent. They do not accept credit cards. Make sure you take cash.

We met at 5:00 this morning for a time of Fellowship and discussion with members of our church. What wonderful service we had. The food was awesome and the waitress Jodi was kind and attentive. Thank you Floyd and Jodi for starting our say off right.

Its a small little café in town. Cute! I did not order much, so I cannot rate its food. One thing I did notice different during pandemic times, plates, cups, utensils used by everyone walking in the door, are washed by hand, not steamed for bacteria and such. Its more like a place that makes you feel at home and your are eating right from your kitchen, but strangers cooking and serving it without sanitation....

Came for lunch around 1 PM. A lunch special of fish with mac and cheese and creamed cucumbers was advertised on the sidewalk chalkboard. The wait staff informed me that they were out of Mac and cheese and cucumbers. I guess you need to get there around 11 AM to ensure getting the special. Any how the bacon cheeseburger was great and the fresh cut French fries were top notch. A great place for breakfast also.

A friend and I were stopped at the Big Savage Tunnel and 2 other cyclists told us about their delicious meal at G.I. Day Room. It sounded so good, we high tailed it to Meyersdale in record time, pedals spinning. We found the fresh cut fries and fresh (not frozen) cheeseburger to be out of this world. Can't wait to go back.Wondering if they're open on Sunday.Would be good to have their hours of operation posted.

Awesome, friendly people. The food here is amazing and inexpensive. Better yet it is made with fresh potatoes and eggs and whatever else right in front of you. Coffee is good, and the iced sun tea is unbeatable. Just remember it is cash only.

Diner hits the spot for breakfast. Right on Main St, reasonable prices, friendly service, smoked sausage, and smily face pancakes with pure local Somerset County maple syrup.
