Everything is priced really well, particularly many brands of high-quality dog food (Orijen, Fromm, Stella & Chewy’s, among others).

This is one of those places that seems to have everything. The owners are there 7 days a week and if they don't have what you need on their shelves, they'll order it for you. With traditional hardware stores disappearing, in service and selection, Gladwyne Hardware provides an experience the big chains just don't anymore.

Bait and Switch on Black Friday! I went there specifically because I received a True Value circular in the mail, with this location and URL specifically listed as the location for the sale items. The flier had a 50% off any non-sale item (Weber grills were the only exclusion) as a Black Friday special. I saw in the flier that they sold Blue Buffalo dog food, had a hungry dog out of food, so off we went specifically to get dog food with the coupon. BUT the owner would not only refuse to honor the coupon on the dog food, he wouldn't even let me use it for the other item we purchased (a magnet). He claimed it wasn't his coupon and that it must be for some other True Value somewhere. I explained, to no avail, that this coupon was attached to a circular which arrived in my mailbox with "Old Gladwyne True Value Hardware" and ONLY Old Gladwyne True Value Hardware listed on it. I would have left without buying anything, but my dog was hungry and I didn't want to have to go anywhere retail on Black Friday. But, this is classic bait-and-switch. I was literally lured in for something specific as advertised and once I was there, I was told that it was not available in any shape or form. I will NEVER be back and I am a Gladwyne resident who generally spends more money at hardware stores than any other type of retail (old house a.k.a., money pit, which is why I need to use a coupon to feed the dog!). Bait-and-switch is illegal, unethical, and generally bad for business. Don't patronize a business that uses shady tricks like this.

Great store. Priced as well as Home Depot and Lowe’s. They have almost everything that the big stores have. The husband and wife are super nice and helpful.

Gladwyne Hardware has EVERYTHING! We can go for plants/flowers, dog food and light bulbs…and come away with adorable holiday decor and outdoor recreation activities (sleds, kites!)!!! The owners are so kind and knowledgeable, and they will remember you and the sort of things you are interested in—ask, and be treated to their laser focus on what is in stock, And if there’s anything they don’t have, they will help you find it!

Every time I come to visit my daughter and she has a chore for me , I can always find the much needed item at this Hardware store. The Asian owners are helpful and know their stock and that old timey feeling is still present here in Gladwyne.
