We try to support local small businesses as much as possible over the big chain stores because the little guys are who built this country. This is little hidden gem is a great little Mom & Pop grocery store that's been here for a long time. They do their own butchering onsite and stock some of the name brands as well. My Grandfather butchered for them back in the 50s and maybe the 60s. The meat selection here is good and they're not gouging folks like the big chain stores. Check out the deli case too as they have some nice selections and the folks behind the counter always greet you with a smile. We'll come to Freed's as long as they're open.

Freed's is a wonderful, small family grocery store that has a great atmosphere. They offer the best & freshest butchered meat. Often visit for hard to find items & the family vibe. Can get a bit pricier than WalMart but you're paying for the special attention & superior quality AND service.

Family owned - best meats in town done by real butchers. Reasonable meat prices especially for the quality, regular grocery prices a bit higher. They also sell boar's head lunch meats and cheeses which is a plus.

Great butcher! They have great sales on meats and seafood often! Their deli is fantastic and sell great quality lunch meat. They also offer random made items as well from the deli, just last week i got a hot pepper salad that was fantastic! Typically they have hoagies made and ready to grab and go! The store is very clean, well kept and staffed with very friendly and helpful associates!

If you're familiar with the wider aisles of a chain store, you may be uncomfortable your first time. But let me assure you, if you're looking for fresh produce, fresh meats (and a butcher!), and/or a good deli (they cut cheese thinner than anywhere else I've been to), give this place a try-- you won't be disappointed.

Super convienent and friendly. Selection is not huge, but it is still has hard to find/local items. I don't get lost in here. Meat is really fresh and never "old" looking/tasting. Always involved in community! My favorite grocery store !

Freeds has a good selection of what you might need and try to carry some local goods including Speakeasy coffee. They are well stocked with packaged goods and their butcher is great. Their produce section is small and sometimes not very fresh. We have a great time looking through the clearance items at the end of the produce isle.

This is an awesome place to go for ur meats. They have crazy good sales on steak. They've got fresh produce, short lines, if any. You can water cooler bottles from a vending machine type thing outside. And everyone there is pretty nice.

Best meats around. Helpful, courteous, clean, stocked shelves.... Prices are higher, but worth shopping here. Butcher cuts the meat to your standards. Treated like you're the only shopper there. Thanks Freeds

Freeds is a great family owned, smaller store. The meat department is excellent. The deli, produce and frozen departments are small but have a nice selection. Keep your eyes open in the deli area for the nice selection of store made baked goods.

Easy to see this is a family owned business by the personal attention given to their shoppers!! Super fresh deli items and products throughout the store. Freeds is also committed to community with events, donations and sharing their facility space with other community service organizations. An amazing local business run by amazing people!!!

Always my go to grocery...BEST MEATS & LUNCH MEAT EVER...many items you can't find anywhere else...employees are always ready to help if you can't find what you are looking for, or if you need any other kind assistance 😉 I personally have been shopping there since I got married and had first baby, and she will be 40 this year!! So way to go Freeds!

Friendly local market. Carries just about everything an average shopper needs. Sells some locally made products and has very good meat and deli counters. They also support the community: host blood drive vans, fund raising events (girl scouts and charity groups).

In the days of long lines, few checkers and overall a terrible shopping experience Freed's stands alone. More selection and better prices than Wawa, they often have great specials (that you don't need a club card to get), they take coupons like everyone else too. And if there is more than 2 people in line, another checker line is opened. They bag your groceries, and cut their own meat. They have great deals on tasty steaks.So be a comparison shopper. Compare the value of the time you save, the stress you reduce and the quality of the vitals you procure. Avoid the "factory farm" grocery stores, and help keep a treasure like Freeds in business in OUR community.

Freeds is the best small grocery store in Gilbertsville. The Deli is great, try the pork barbeque and the cold salads. The staff are very friendly and it's clean.

Nice local grocery store. Best for quick pickups rather than a large shopping trip because there isn't a lot of space or huge selection. No on-site bakery, but has a deli. Good prices.
