Travis and Tom have been great to work with , I have a small tank and so it’s a little more maintenance but their knowledge and understanding and help to keep our salt water tank in tip top shape are beyond helpful. My two young daughters spend hours watching the fish and we love spending time in the store checking out the amazing selections we cannot put in a small tank but the store is always clean and full of great fish for any size tank!Even if you want a ray or two !Thanks Travis @ upscale Fish and a reptile 🐠 🐟 & 🦎

If you like salt water coral and fish you can frequently find some hidden gems in the tanks. They won't usually have fancy names or price tags but if you're willing to give the coral some time to color up you won't be disappointed. Only reason for 4x stars is that the coral tanks some times look like they need some attention, some frags have slow tissue necrosis and some pests can be seen. If you quarantine and dip you'll be fine but don't risk it otherwise.

Let me start by saying that if you are looking for quality salt water fish and corals, this place will not disappoint. That being said, the reptiles they keep are in terrible condition. Their cages and water are filthy, they are sickly, missing limbs and housed incorrectly. They have a leopard gecko cohabitating with a tortoise! No way to track heat or humidity, feces everywhere, no proper hides or climbing places for certain species. I have never seen animals in such terrible conditions. I am heartbroken for these poor creatures. I honestly don't know why they even bother having them in store. Their saltwater selection is the star and is on point, they should not be keep these other animals. It's obvious that they have no idea what they are doing with these animals or they just don't care.

Love there damsel collections. Oregonians hates damsels for some reason.Also beautiful corals cheap 15$ frags and reptiles looked healthy.Also appreciate the staff not asking a million question and allowing me to take my time.

This is a cool little store. It's a great place to get salt water fish and supplies for a very reasonable price. They have a pretty big selection of coral especially hard stoney coral. Also they usually have a pretty good selection of clams which from what I have noticed at other stores is kinda rare. This place has been around for a pretty long time as well so their tanks are very mature and full of life. The staff is extremely knowledgeable as well. I have only ever seen one guy working there but he definitely knows what he is doing. If it's reptiles or reptile stuff you seek this is probably not the best place to go. They usually only have maybe 3-5 reptiles to choose from and have barely any supplies. But if you are just looking for bugs (crickets or worms) they got you covered

Awesome saltwater shop! Tom and Travis focus on helping you achieve success for your aquarium by starting with where you are at and understanding where you want to be.For example, certain animals cohabitate well together which creates a cascade for how you can design your aquarium so you maximize the awesome animals and corals you want without adding ones that will cannibalize what you are creating.They frequently get new varieties of corals, fish and invertebrates including some I haven't seen at any other shops in town.Very relaxed vibe, no pressure approach.Definitely my favorite saltwater shop! 🙌

Reptiles are in HORRIBLE condition. The tiny unsuited enclosures are neglected and left to grow piles of mold. Fish tanks are disgusting. What looked to be spider egg sacs on the wall behind the tanks. Repulsive place, stay away!!

Owner’s obvious antisocial tendencies aside, the reptiles aren’t in great shape, fish are meh but corals are ok. Definitely a place to avoid, there are better stores with knowledgeable staff in Portland. It’s worth the drive to protect your tank!

Great place to purchase all your reefing needs. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly but not harassing and pushy. Give you honest answers to questions instead of pushing sales. Good selection of both new and used tanks and stands as well as equipment. Owner will also order you whatever you want or could purchase off sites like Marine Depot for slightly less . Corals are always a bit less expensive than other places. As with all stores, be sure you quarantine your animals before placing in your main display. Most of the time there are no noticeable signs but most people want to blame the seller. Stop in and check them out!

Really solid selection of corals and saltwater fish. Could use a bigger selection of equipment, but you can pick up water and used gear at a great price. The staff has tons of experience and are very helpful. They have reptiles too which is cool.

We were just in the area coming back from Lincoln city to Bellevue and decided to check out the tropical fish store nearby. The place looked very cool inside and definitely more saltwater fish and reef than fresh water. The price were very reasonable and manager said they always have deals on corals buy one and get second one for half price most of the time. They have a lot of unique and cool pieces for corals and fish there than most places. I purchased a huge 10"-12" carpet anemone for $90. I will come back sometime this summer to get more. If you're around this area go check them out. Staff were very nice

Great fish and coral selections! New inventory seems to be pretty regular and he clearly cares for the fish since they always seem to be quite happy! A little selection of reptiles as well including geckos and some tortoises and the occasional snake as well. Great local resource for getting Watters (salt and fresh) at $1 per gallon! Just be sure to bring some 5 gallon buckets with lids! They also have a small selection of essential tools for building an aquarium or cage for reptiles. I just love walking in and seeing the Russian tortoises in their area below the corals. I just wish they had a bigger tortoise roaming the shop to add some personally!

Do not support the poor husbandry of this shop. The tanks are small and dirty with far too many animals in a tank. There was even a dead crested gecko left in its enclosure. These reptiles are in such poor conditions it’s disgusting. No humidity or temperature gauges in sight.

Came here by accident and didn't know it was Saltwater only. I only keep freshwater at the moment. Tom is very knowledgeable about saltwater fish and it was a very educational encounter. Will be stopping by again when I start keeping saltwater. 10/10 reccomend stopping by if you're new to the hobby and want some pointers from an expert.

The owner is really cool. Super nice guy. I love the display tanks with an amazing turtle and big stingrays. Great place for saltwater tanks or just a cool place to check out if you got free time. I’ll definitely be back.

Unlike most stores specializing in marine reef aquariums and supplies, Upscales seems to resent its customers. I've been in three times, and each time the personnel were extremely reluctant to answer my questions about caring for a fish/invertebrate, pretty much expected me to know all about it and not bother them unless I was handing them money. "Whatever we have is over there," with a shrug, was pretty much the answer I got about any supplies I was seeking. And the tanks seemed pretty overgrown and sometimes in need of cleaning.They have some beautiful clams and marine fish, but after making a fairly expensive buy from them and STILL getting the shrug treatment, I won't buy again. If you're in the PDX area, I'd strongly suggest going to Woody's Seahorses or Wet Pets instead.

My tank is cycling so I couldn't really buy anything but Tom was awesome and gave me a lot of information. Prices looks great and the selection was really good. Will come back for corals once my tank is done cycling

I work at a local pet supply shop in Sherwood and I send people looking for aquatic/reptile things here all the time because I had a great experience with the staff when I was younger. They have great supplies and I got my very first crested gecko here, it's super cute and I'd recommend checking it out!
