We live in Hood River and when a family member had to unexpectedly enter the hospital, we had to find boarding for her dog right away. A nearby kennel agreed on the phone to take her, but when we brought the dog in, they declined to accept her, requiring a fecal test which no other kennel we have patronized have required. No effort was made to determine whether they could make an exception due to the circumstances.We scrambled and found Eagle Caves. They were very understanding of the urgent nature of our need, and took the dog right in. They took great care of her, and gave us regular updates. They were understanding when we had to extend the boarding. The true nature of a provider is made evident when you have an emergency. We are very happy with Eagle Caves. Fees were very reasonable as well.

Upcharges after you've already paid. Doesn't put them in the area you pay for. Trimmed my dogs nails without asking and charging me for it. And the icing on top was a shock collar being on my dog without my permission which I would never permit, he said "She barked to much"..... will never go here again!

They were wonderful with our kitty, even when we had to board her longer than expected due our being stranded out of town because of bad weather. And worked with us on the extra costs.

Good place for a short stay. Had to find a kennel near my lodging and this fit the bill. Real decent boarding prices but beware of any extras 'cuz it'll cost. The dogs seemed content when I picked them up but were glad to get outta there. Who's dog isn't though, no matter how classy the digs!?

Eagle caves was able to accommodate our 2 big doggos very last minute and they were very well taken care of! Our younger dog has never been without our older boy and they were able to put them in the same kennel (it's larger I believe) so they could be together. They played with the other dogs every day and even got groomed while they were there! I've never seen my shepherd mix fluffier!! If I need a boarding facility again, you'll be the first I call!!

We had a wonderful experience with Eagle Caves Pet Resort. We had a situation come up and had to leave town for a week and Greg and Annie took in our dog Ripken not only on very short notice but with patience knowing this was his first time being boarded and away from us for so long. They offer a great experience for both pet parents and fur kids and are very affordable. when we picked up our fur kid he was happy, healthy and in great spirits! We will be using them for all our future boarding needs. Highly recommend

Great place in The Dalles to drop off Max. I like it because you can take your dog on a long ride from pdx and then leave him in The Dalles. Both times max was well cared for. The second time we came to get him he didn’t want to leave.

We have been sending our dogs to Eagle Caves for close to 10 years. Greg & Annie love animals and our pups look forward to staying with them. They provide a wonderful home away from home for our fur babies!! Their facility is clean, air conditioned and has a beautiful outdoor play area for the pups to have lots of fun!! It’s nice being able to leave town knowing our pets are being well cared for.

Our two big canine boys seemed to have a great time here. Greg was very responsive, empathetic, and knowledgeable. He even let us know of a great place to go play after we all left the resort. It was great the dogs were able to get a large room together and some time to play. I’m sure it made them feel more at home. Our boys were well cared-for, and I would use Eagle Caves again.

I boarded my pup here for a week and was very pleased. I have never boarded my dog before and the owners were sure to answer all of my questions and show me their facility. They were both very professional and passionate about their business. My dog was well taken care of and came back to me in a happy condition. I wouldn't hesitate coming back.

We have boarded our small dog here a few times and have been very happy with the great customer service, grooming and health of our dog after his stay. We especially love the dog report card, which details the activities of our dog's stay, as well as the friends he has made during his stay. (We also appreciate the updates on how he is doing during extended boarding times.) The kennels are also much roomier than any other place we've used, and the facility has been very clean each time we have been there. We have only good things to say about Eagle Caves Pet Resort. A special thanks to Greg who takes a lot of time to answer questions and alleviate any worries you might have about leaving your pooch!

My husband and I have boarded our dog at Eagle Caves Pet Resort (ECPR) for more than two years. Our dog is happy and healthy there, and she is excited to see Greg and Annie every time she goes there. I trust them to care for our dog.Also, since staying at ECPR, our dog interacts better with other dogs, and she is easier to walk.ECPR's grooming services are terrific too. I appreciate the care and attention that they give to our dog, and quite frankly, every other pet that I have seen them interact with. I would pass on leaving my animals here a 2nd time. Thought it was strange they had no lights on inside. But when I visited my pet after 24hrs and there was no heat and the staff didn't seem to care I realized I made a mistake by using this business. Also its not a 24hr rate. If you drop your pet off at 4pm and come back at 4pm the next day you will be charged an extra 4 hours as there is a noon check out. I'd not recommend this business.

We have really tried to give this place a chance as it is the only affordable game in town. But when my wife picked our dog up just now he was wearing a shock collar without anyone checking with us first. That is absolutely not ok. Will not be giving them a penny more of our hard earned money. Don’t waste your dollars here

It is with a heavy heart that I write a review of a this business in the dalles where I received sub par services.My two dogs were dropped off at this business on 3/25 and picked up on 4/1. They were dropped off with a large orange bucket of food, their beds, and a variety of brand new toys and treats for their stay.When they were picked up i immediately noticed how skinny they were, but we prioritized getting them home and didn’t check on their items until we got home. We have a fill line drawn in their bucket so we can keep some tabs on their eating habits. There were less than 20 cups of food missing. 2 large breed dogs should go through 10 cups a day. All the toys and treats were unused.The website states that there will be a detailed report of dog activity and eating habits which we did not receive.My fiancé had to go back the next day for a dog item that was left behind and wanted to ask the worker questions about the care they received. He recorded the conversation and received verbal acknowledgment that the owner was alright with being recorded. During this conversation she was asked about the dogs eating and feeding but had multiple contradicting answers that included she gave them some one else’s food, that she didn’t approve of how we fed them, and that she was feeding them but could not remember any instructions on feeding we gave multiple times in person and on the phone. When asked about the treats and toys she brushed it off and never answered. Same response when asked about the report service listed on their business website. This review is necessary because we never want any other pet parents or their doggies to go through this.

I generally go camping/hiking with my dog for the 4th of July weekend to avoid fireworks but a situation came up that required my attendance for Saturday to Sunday (7/3-7/4) and it was late notice. I made the reservation via phone around 4 pm on Tuesday the 29th. I did not read through the website, as I was in a bind and trying to get a reservation before close of business. They were not my first call, other kennels were full. Even with the 3.8 stars, I figured it's just one day/night. They took my reservation over the phone. Nothing was said about them being closed on the 4th or about the no refund/credit deposit. The next day I got two emails - one saying they are closed on the 4th so I have to pick up my dog on Monday and the other a confirmation with the changed dates. I also got a call/voice mail but it was just 3 minutes of back ground noise. I tried to call several times but no answer. I conceded to the Monday pickup but really didn't want that. I live out of the area and had no plans on staying an extra day and wanted to get up in the mountains with my dog to do some hiking/camping that night. But I conceded via email however I still wanted to talk to them to confirm some details such as drop off/pick up times as they changed those too and there is some conflicting info via the times and what is on the website about being charged more and I wanted to confirm there was not any fireworks in the near vicinity...and a few other things as I LOVE my dog and wanted to make sure he would get good care. I finally got in touch with Annie Friday morning. I was very professional, kind and even tried to make a few light hearted jokes but also to state I wasn't okay with them changing my reservation without consent and would have appreciated the opportunity/time to consider alternate options. Annie was rude, seemed very irritated with my questions, just overall lack of compassion, lack of friendliness, lack of professionalism and ended the call telling me I should call my vet/drug my dog and that she was too busy to deal with me and hung up. It felt ALL wrong. If they treat their customers like this, how do they treat our pets? So I cancelled the reservation via email and changed my plans. I stated in the email that I would like to have my deposit refunded and if they did refund - then I could just chalk it up to a rough week, no harm/no foul, forgive and move on...HOWEVER, if they did NOT refund my deposit then I would give them a poor review as it would be clear that lack of refund is basically a Go F' yourself from them. It does state on their website the no refund "credit" deposit and that they are closed on the 4th, so "legally" they are in the "right" however ethically/morally they are not. And there is no need to credit me as I will NOT use their services and I do not even live in the area. So yeah, not really a "credit" but a "no refund deposit"...which regardless of legalities...is in my opinion, theft, especially in this case, changing a reservation without explicit consent. Therefore I DO NOT RECOMMEND this business. Very unprofessional, poor customer service, poor response, lack of genuine kindness and at the end of the day, when it comes to the care of our loved ones, human and non human - nothing matters more than knowing they are safe and with people that have compassion, love, kindness, decency. Furthermore, after reading how they respond to EVERY review that is less than 5 stars - downright bullies, so ugly, SO petty, no accountability, no compassion - just defense and offense. I have blocked them from my email/phone. Ultimately, this review is not for them, it is for the customers, the Pet Moms and Dads that want to support businesses that care - care about you, care about your pets. Eagle Caves is in my opinion, based on my experience - not that kind of organization.Response to response, I was not "emotionally" charged, I have phone logs to prove they are lying, I never called "from the road", my cell did NOT drop calls and no "weather" issues. Good grief, pathetic!

We have been taking our new addition Akira to Eagle Caves for about 6 months. So thankful to Greg and Annie for their great care and knowledge. We take her for daycare and boarding if she can't go with us. Its nice to know she is in a safe and caring environment. Greg and Annie are awesome. Would be lost without Eagle Caves pet resort!

Thank you thank you thank you for taking such awesome care of Punkin Pie while we were in California. She was not traumatized at all that we were gone. She obviously had a great time. Thanks for your genuine loving care of my pup! You are the BEST!!!!!!!! Every time I bring my little pup to you folks for a groom or daycare or boarding, I always know she is in great hands. It is obvious to me your love and kindness and compassion on animals. Always a pleasant experience and very comparably priced. Thanks again!

First time using this facility for our two fur babies. Normally I use a dog sitter, but we were in a bind and needed someplace near where my husband is working. I tried calling on a few separate occasions during their stay to check in on them, but nobody answered the phone. Maybe just short on staff, but still. Anyway, our dogs came back freshly bathed (per our request), but I have no way of knowing if they received the play time we paid for and the only feedback my husband said he received about their stay was that one of our dogs whines too much. Just didn't give me the best vibe.

Absolutely awful management. Very unprofessional. His receptionist called my dog “difficult” upon first meeting her and called my wife a “Karen” for leaving a 3 star review. He is not open to honest feedback. Honestly he is lucky he is one of the very few places in The Dalles.

Response:Gregory, I thought that the full day of emails and harrassment and name calling would have allowed you to fully vent. (I have the mean name calling emails for anyone to see. There were about 8-10 of them.)However, I see that you are here, in my opinion, degrading me. My complaint regarding your wife stands, and I told you that she attemtped to console me. Yes, there were a few tears, but, a breakdown no. Sir, at this point, my honest opinion of you, your wife and facility has turned into quite an ordeal.And, by the way, her tail continued to bleed for several days. And, again, Sir, NONE of our animals have ever had an injury.I will ask you again, to stop continuing this unprofessional behavior, and spend some time 'tail-proofing' your facility.A person is expected to be honest with a review. And, never has a business owner harassed me through email, and now on the review, for my honest opinion. I am sure that readers that see this will find it more disturbing than my review itself. Good Day, Greg!Edit: The owner, with concern for loss of business during pandemic recovery, emailed and asked that I add that they were groomed well. He felt my words were harsh and could cause them loss of revenue. He added that they are dogs, not china.***I am very upset, as is My Husband. Upon registration, I explained that our one furbaby is hyperactive and strong.However, I arrived to find her bandaged! According to them, her tail is long, active and strong. It has been her whole life! And yet, NEVER had an injury!I am not yet sure what recourse I have, yet, I definitely don't feel I should have been charged the full amount. $650, and one of my babies is injured! I will NEVER do business here again.

My dog banjo goes to eagle caves pet resort a couple days a week and he seems to really be loving it there ! Gets to play with all other dogs and gets some exercise in. Great place to bring your dogs, highly recommend and such a friendly staff always smiling faces :))

I was on the fence about writing a review for eagle caves because I didn't want to be harassed like they did to my daughter's post. But after reading and hearing more horror stories about what has happened to other owners dogs while staying at eagles cave pet resort, I would recommend Lana's Kennels in between the Dalles and dufer. At Lana's kennels you will be amazed how moving and caring they are. Don't be fooled by eagles cave, take my advice.

5 Starts all the way!!!! I have been taking my German Shepard there for over a year and she is always so excited to see Annie and Greg both! She can’t wait to get in for fun with all her doggie pals! And comes home happy, healthy, and well taken care of! My husband and I work full time and were looking for a fun, safe place for are furry loved one to have a good time and get the attention and love she receives at home...this place nails it!!! They treat her like their own! It truly shows in Kona’s face and demeanor when we come get her and how she reacts to going back in the morning! Annie and Greg mean the world to us! Keeping our loved one safe and cared for is all that matters to us! We love this place and will always recommend to anyone in The Dalles that needs and quick sitter for the day, of regular weekly daycare! Thank you for all you do in our community!

Worst place to take your dog if your dog likes to not be caged all day! My dog came back bleeding on the face and happy to be out of that place! They seemed to want us to put our dog on drugs and have him drugged up all three days he was to be there. The man at the counter seemed to have a terrible experience with my dog and said he would not take him until he was on medication.So we took my dog to the vet and the veterinarian said to try a collar that calms down dogs. We had went back and he proceeded to say he would still not take the dog and said that our vet could be wrong with the collar. Once we had left he proceeded to call our vet and then called us saying we needed to get a second opinion. The staff is terrible and i can't image how rude they were to my dog.

My goldendoodle literally starts squirming with joy when we walk up to ECPR and leaves smiling and exhausted!The folks that run it are super nice and accommodating and the prices are super reasonable.Great all around, happy to have this service in our community :)
