The doctor was awesome. She was still willing to see my lil guy even though we were very late for our appt time. It was our 1st visit at this location. The doctor seemed very sincere about caring for my lil guy and really took the time to look him over to get acquainted with him, his medical history and current needs. She also gave my other 2 lil pups attention and treats even though we weren’t there for them (they were his emotional support team because he has high vet anxiety). Her assistant was also amazing and pet loving. They make a great team. The front desk clerk was also great. She was very understanding of why we were late and instead of making me feel bad about it and have me to reschedule (as most vet offices do nowadays) she told me she’ll let the staff know we’re here to see if they are able to see us.I just spent well over $1100 at the other big chain pet hospital that is located inside the other big chain pet store and even though they did a really good job on my fur baby the service was horrible there. Not once did they take us in an office to speak, instead they conducted there business with me right in the lobby even while other customers were there. Also, they’re doctor never came out to introduce herself to me or speak to me in person. ***VetCo’s*** customer service is a thousand times better, and to me that means everything! VetCo made me feel like my pets matter to them not just my payments. 💕 💕I had already planned not to continue on with my membership once this yr ends because of the lack of availability of appointments. But after this visit, I decided as long as I’m able to schedule here with this doctor, I will renew my membership again. I highly recommend them!

I went to the Petco, in the Salem Oregon center st. mall area. I was helped out by the Petco employee, and all. I was there at Petco , about a half hour before they closed., in the check out line, in front of me , was a Brown skin girl, and she was the prettiest girl I've ever seen... and I just been thinking about her, and I was hoping maybe I could find her just to say hi.

I needed a new groomer for my Daisy the Doodle. A friend recommended Sarah at Petco on Center St. I'm glad she did.The check-on process was easy; they were efficient and thorough. Sarah listened attentively to my instructions and the end result was exactly what I wanted! I don't know how to upload her photo, but I assure you she's the cutest mini labradoodle in town ;-)

I brought my tiny elderly cat in to be euthanized in late December. The staff was kind but the experience was troubling. The process itself took an inordinately long time and my cat suffered. To start, I think that the medications used were too much for my cat’s small size. The sedative made her vomit violently and it seemed to take forever to get an IV into her vein. I spoke to an outside vet later, who told me that she believed the protocol used was not all it should have been. She seemed troubled herself. I offer this review in the hope that Petco will re-examine its protocol for euthanizing small animals. I’m sad to think my cat suffered unnecessarily. Katherine Daniels

They staff were very attentive and helpful, no complaints there. However, the frozen fish food section was severely understocked.Being that it is frozen items with a long shelf life, it should never be unstocked.

My son and I both used your store bathroom and it was disgusting! By far one of the filthiest bathrooms I've ever used. It was obvious that it hadn't been cleaned in days or maybe weeks. It stunk really bad as well. The sink was disgustingly dirty, as was the toilet. There were no covers for the toilet seat. I didn't want to touch anything in that bathroom, including the faucet to be able to wash my hands. Unbelievable!

This is the only chain pet store I like in the Salem area. They take care of their fish and reptiles well. They are super nice here too. I do my own research so I don’t ask them any questions about animal care, but they seem to know what they are doing here. :)

Hello Petco-- goodbye PetSmart. So ends 35 years of shopping PetSmart. Our 16-year-old Miniature Poodle, Muffin has been banned from the grooming salon for life. She is my service dog for PTSD as per Doctor's prescription. I'm my wife's sole caregiver. She suffered a major stroke in 2007-- just two months after Muffin came into our lives. She's the glue that holds us together. Terribly matted, needing a professional grooming She missed two appointments both of which were rescheduled by the kind PetSmart Groomers. I called several hours before each of those appointments explaining that I could not leave my wife home alone as she had suffered a seizure which hits every two to five days. They were kind and understanding.You guessed it-- same thing happened for our third appointment EXCEPT that the employee asked me to hold a moment-- Then a woman manager came on the line, all business with a tiny bit of consternation in her matter-of-fact voice. "Muffin is no longer welcome here."I don't blame her one bit,, perfectly appropriate. Obviously we had wasted the time of the grooming staff there for which I apologized profusely. I told her that I understood completely. I offered a solution. I asked if I could please pay in advance for Muffins grooming fee. To which the unnamed woman manager said nothing. Taking the hint, I politely closed out the call and thanked them very much and apologize for wasting their time. Live and learn, what I will do is call Petco now to arrange for Muffin's Grooming. I will let them know that there's a good possibility that we may not make it to the appointment as I may need to call at the last minute to reschedule. I will offer to pay for her grooming in advance.Not to cast aspersions upon PetSmart, but I wish the manager could have accommodated us because I've always chosen PetSmart over Petco. I've been a loyal PetSmart customer for 35 years. Life Changes, from here on out our number one choice will be Petco. Enough said.

Took my two cats and my small puppy in to vetco . They care about your pets and are very gentle and kind. What I thought was going to be a terrible chaotic trip with the three turned out to be not so nerve wrecking like I thought it was going to be thanks to them .

A lot of the snakes are mis labeled and are over priced for what they are. The snake that I bought no one could tell me if it was a king snake or a milk snake. As the tag had it labeled as both. This isn’t just this store it’s all petco’s are like this.

I feel like how a Petco's betta fish display is kept is a litmus test to how well taken care of the rest of the animals are going to be in the store. I was impressed with how cleaned and active they were. Often I see betta looking like they're sitting in their poop for days on end, but this wasn't the case here. Also this was my first time seeing glow in the dark betta fish and my mind was blown.The other animals seemed really well taken care of too, I noticed various species playing with enrichment toys in their cages and having minor things like mixed substrate to benefit the animals. I'm usually not a fan of Petco and haven't gone in one for years because of my previous experience and frustrations on how the animals were kept, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. In fact it made of big impression on me, and I'm more willing to use the stores again, not as a last resort.Now what really impressed me was the employee I talked to. Her name was Anya. I was with my cousin in the store; she's a recent college graduate and she's interested in going into veterinarian work. This information is important because of our conversation with Anya.Anya approached us and asked if we need any help, we had some questions that she answered and we talked a little bit about the fishes, birds, and snakes. During our conversation, it came up about my cousin's interest in animals and being a vet. Anya got really excited, and then told her about petco's newest vet tech program and provided her with the information and resources for this path to join petco's employee family. She mentioned that Petco is opening a vet tech program that is hiring people and teaching them how to become vet techs, which would greatly help my cousin in her goals. I really appreciate it the time Anya took to connect and discuss this career path with my cousin.Overall it was a very lovely experience, and even days later my cousin and I are still talking about it and are preparing her for applying to various Petco's that offer that position. I appreciate the time this employee took to help us with what we're looking for in store, but to also help with resources and information regarding programs and jobs with Petco as well.

Love this location! We’ve always taken our Golden to Petco for grooming and just recently started going to Center St instead of South for convenience. Sarah is absolutely amazing. She’s patient, gentle and always listens closely to our requests.Thank you, Sarah!

I would like to start by saying that I love the Vital Valley Nutrition fresh Dog Food I get from here not to mention the discount you get if you buy 4 or more at a time, whenever I do I come in the store I love how everything is organized, the staff is friendly very knowledgeable of the things people might have questions of. Love bringing my pups every now and then whenever I get a chance to.

Sierra was the absolutely most wonderful person. She made sure I was a rewards member to get the good deals on my kitties food. She gave the best advice for harness training my kitty in preparation for her vet visit and spay. She complimented how wonderful and spoiled my girl is and how I am doing a great job. That was the best reassurance i could have ever gotten. She is absolutely the most kind person.

Products are well stocked. Staff was not very knowledgeable regarding the products they sell (told me their dog cookies did not contain sugar. They contain both sugar and high fructose corn syrup). Good on products. Bad on advice.

I was there to take my dog to the vet. It was just to get her vaccinated. The process was short and sweet and to the point (pun intended). Don't expect anything else when you bring your dog to get vaccinated here. The checkin took longer than getting the shots and the appointment time was 12:36 which I thought was weird at first. I have to say the vet and assistants were very nice and handled my dog very well. When you understand this appointment is for vaccine only and not anything else this is actually pretty amazing.

Store is clean and staff are friendly (even with my skittish dog) but the aisles are soooo tight in some places I can't get my wheelchair through effectively limiting my ability to shop to about 60% of the store. Very frustrating

Went in for a check up for one of the many cats we have with Dr Demarco. She is a wonderful vet treats the cats like her own. She will be hard to replace when she retires. Autumn is her helper and she is great just as well.

Tonight after going to PetSmart and getting terrible customer service, we went here. Me and my daughter are looking into getting a bearded dragon. The employee Austin was very helpful and friendly. He was also very informative. I really appreciated all the help we received. We will be returning.
