We have been coming here for 2 years now. They are well stocked and all your pets needs. Always come here for the frozen dog food, turkey tendons and some other treats to try. They have a very friendly staff and their goods are always well priced. Our dog Peggy loves it here, too.

Super knowledgeable about older pets' dietary needs. I have an older cat that is having kidney issues and they were able to give me advise on additives to food (home cooked foods like yam or pumpkin) to lower the phosphorus levels in the foods she will eat so her tummy can handle them... Cats are so picky.

We love Sellwood pet supply!!! The staff are warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. If you bring your pet in, they will genuinely compliment them. The store is easy to navigate and has displays that are adorable and change seasonally. They high light local brands. Their selection is pretty thorough especially since it’s not a huge shop. I love that they have local events, and the monthly newsletter with $5 off coupon. If you have a pet and are passing through Sellwood, I recommend popping in!

The best, most neighborly little shop anywhere. The staff are genuinely friendly, helpful, and so happy to help problem-solve for the right solution to your visit. New puppy too exuberant for a traditional leash? They've gotcha covered. Dog treats/toys not lasting long enough? Check. Fabulous unicorn plushies? Checkity check.

Kind, helpful and knowledgeable staff. I have rabbits and they actually have a rabbit section! Good quality items, the selection is limited and prices can be high, but it's the best spot to pick up any needed items quickly. They even often have critical care available which has been a life saver on many occasions. Love this spot.

SUPPORT LOCAL! Sellwood Pet Supply has been open for 20 years and has a much better selection than Mud Bay nearby, which is a chain store that tends to open locations right next to established independent stores. I picked up a few fresh baked cookies and frozen pet cupcakes for my dog’s birthday. Super cute, and staff was really friendly and helpful.

I've never been to a pet store and thought "man, I need to write them a glowing review" before today. Best stocked, best laid out, most Portland-feeling pet store I've ever visited. Toys, beds, fancy water bottles, jackets, costumes (it's October), an excellent grooming section-- I say all this from a dog person perspective, but I also noticed cat and bunny stuff. Loved the shop, will stop by whenever I'm in the area.

I am a regular here and I LOVE this place. Ilene is such an INCREDIBLY knowledgeable person about all things pets…the best person they could possibly have working there, helped me soooo much. Went in and had the best customer service! Terribly kind and very officiant! When you walk in they have a hand sanitizing station and a very kind greeter. I found all the products my cat needs! Great store. Dog friendly and the staff always have a smile and a treat for my pup. They are also really knowledgeable about their products. Every Saturday afternoon they offer nail trims for $7, and a little extra if you want a dremel. Audrey is great with the dogs, even my bully who doesn't like having her paws touched. She gets it done in 10 minutes and my dog loves seeing her.

I love this pet store. They always ask before giving my pets treats, which is appreciated since one of my dogs has a very sensitive tummy. Not every store does this and its a small thing that goes a long way. They always have really high quality stuff and give excellent recommendations. If you can't find what you need they can usually order it or help guide you to an appropriate substitution. I tell everyone to go to this store and always hear good things from people who go. My pets would not be as spoiled as they are if not for this place and the wonderful staff there.

Nothing like horrible customer service to cause a bad review.I purchased a “tough ‘n’ treat dispensing ball” for my dog. She spent 30 minutes on it and then decided to rip it apart. It remained in tact except for the giant rip in it. I took it away and chuckled and thought, “Wait till I tell Sellwood Pet Supply.” All my dog loving friends assured me, “Of course they’ll be sympathetic. That’s why you buy local. Customer service!”I went today and explained what happened.They first went on the defensive. Well, yes - we don’t have a guaranty on these products and neither do the manufacturers. We can’t guaranty what one dog will do to a toy versus another. Before I asked for anything, the woman at the door said, “I can’t give you a refund, but a generous 30% discount on something else.” I was disappointed, but that’s better than nothing I guess.Then I went to the counter to process my transaction, and that’s when the clerk started to lecture me. “This is one of our best selling toys. The trainers we work with know exactly how this toy is to be used. This toy isn’t meant to be given to the dog unsupervised (subtext - if you had been watching your dog, this wouldn’t have happened).”At this point, I said - “Maybe you could just put a sign by it, saying that it is destructible by some dogs.”He said, “No, we aren’t going to do that. It’s one of our most popular toys.”I shop local as much as possible. I went out of my way purchasing $100s and $100s of unnecessary things at this store, even during the pandemic - I did what could.This toy cost $14, but was purchased with others in a transaction of $117.00.I wasn’t even expecting a refund or store credit, but I DID NOT need a lecture on how it was my fault.I’ll shop down the street at the other pet shop.

This is my favorite pet store in Portland. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, not at all judgmental, and super helpful.I have a 50 lb dog who needs a very specific diet due to allergies. They helped me find good options and allowed me to order a bulk box of the food (which they now carry in stock regularly.)Their selection of food (including frozen and raw), treats, toys, and accessories are top notch.

$8 hassle-free dog nail trims offered every Saturday beginning at noon. She’s great with both of our pups.The store itself is very cute and well-curated, but besides the unique and awesome nail trim deal it is a typical boutique pet supply store and the items are priced accordingly.
