The staff here are very helpful. I still don’t have a pet of my own yet but will do soon. I came by and ask lots of questions regarding the needs of puppies and was help very throughly. The staff was very patient and did not mind answering the many questions I had. Very excited for the day that I get my puppy and will definitely get all my puppy food and treats here.

this is my favorite pet store in portland. they have such a good selection, the staff is always friendly and helpful, and best of all, it's union! me and my husband can afford a dog in the first place because of our unions, so we always want to support union businesses :)

Great Pet Store in NE Portland on Mississippi St. The staff here is amazing, everyone is friendly and all dog customers are given copious amounts of attention, treats, and pets. Great selection of food and pet products, and every month they have either an adoption or some kind of fun social event for pets and their owners. My go to place in NE Portland to get things for my dog.

This is my best girl's favorite spot in the neighborhood. Great selection of food and treats for your furry friend. Super, super nice staff. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. Even after no longer offering my doggo's favorite treats. We still make a special order whenever she runs out. Stop by and let your fur child decide. I bet they won't be disappointed.

We’ve been going to Salty’s for the past year and always recommend them. Both our cat and dog are pampered by their amazing selection of single ingredient treats and safe, well made toys. It’s been especially helpful that they sell cat toys individually (like a $3 mouse toy or $1 scrunchie ball) as we can test if our cat even likes the toy without spending a ton. They also take special requests like when we asked if they sell frozen, raw chicken feet and they ordered a pack for us and called when it was ready. Amazing people, amazing products.

I had a small independently owned dog store I loved to go to when I lived in a different city. I am happy to find something similar in Portland! I didn't get to fully browse the store as I was just stopping in quick to get a few specific things. But the staff was very helpful without being pushy and only showed me what I wanted to see.Overall very nice atmosphere and I can't wait to come back with my pup. I imagine I will be back in frequently with their great service.One of the few places I have been to in Portland that still requires masks and limiting the occupancy of the store. I am sure some people will give them grief for that. But good on them I say! shows they care about their employees as much as it does their customers.

They are descriminating. It is October of 2022 and they are requiring masks. They don't make allowances for people with asthma or other issues that make mask wearing difficult. I definitely won't be spending my money here.

Pono Puppy and I enjoy this pet store. (We are allergic to Commercial/Conglomerates that feed poison knowingly to fur babies)They accommodated me (which ain't easy being a War Vet w kinda serious PTSD) and Pono Seriously enjoyed their treat hidey toy by front door. Cleaned it right out if am not mistaken. Met the Owner, tho she didn't say so... Which is kinda nice. 💓We are headed back now... Pono has outgrown collar #2. 🙄 AND... They offer a better price n repeat purchase special on his favorite Duck Rawbble. Which is nice cuz that stuff is expensive, like Gold.

We struggled to park with the construction that was going on that day. Finally after sorting all that out, we made it into the store. We were asked to mask upon arrival, cool no problem, they pointed out the masks I put one on. However my toddler's did not fit. They mentioned they were out of small sizes and to carry my child around if I didn't have one. Unfortunately the last thing that was on my mind since the mask mandates are no longer in affect was his mask.Truly he has a hard time keeping it on anyway. Toddler are not always willing to compromise.I was super frustrated with the idea of not being able to manage having to hold my child and the dog while I shopped so I decided to leave instead.I respect any business and their policies, but making it a little more accessible for us parents would be so helpful.When I pulled the store on Google search, this was not mentioned.Thankfully I was able to find a second store that was super accommodating to the struggle of puppy and toddler shopping. We truly just needed puppy food and were looking to support our locals VS. a chain pet shop. This post is for any parent- It's tough some days, so a good heads up is truly helpful so here you go.

Went in to have my dog sized and fitted for a new no pull harness and raincoat. Alex was absolutely amazing, and patient and we tired a few things in and walked around the store, and with his help left with a front lead harness and rain jacket. The very first walk since, absolutely ZERO pulling from my dog for the first time. We had slack and she stayed right by my side and did not mind the rain jacket at all. Best customer support and experience I've ever had at a pet store. I've bought several expensive harnesses, Puppia, ones that go over her nose she'd fight to get off etc, and having one sized specifically to her odd "mutt " body being short but long legged and slim, best fitting harness I've owned. Great place to take yr pets! HIGHLY recommended, and thank you Alex!!

Friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff and reasonable prices (for adorable toys and high quality food)! They have The Most Effective pet smell neutralizer I've ever used. Their social media presence is cute as well :) They love pets and it shows!Edit: with the new wave, salty's has continued to require masks and prioritize community health and safety. This is genuinely my deciding factor of where to buy cat food. Thank you, staff!!

I don't give reviews unless they're earned and this store deserves 5 stars. I used to go to their sisters store, "3 Paws" on South waterfront. They closed in June and I was hesitant to go across town. Today I did and it was worth it, they even transferred my favorite employee there. The lady who helped me was nice and not pushy, the store even had a kiddy pool for dogs when it's hot. I won't lie their prices are high, but the products are local and quality ingredients. You can go to Dollar Tree and spend $1.25/item and get more, but it wouldn't be good for your pet. And you'd likely be supporting huge companies, I'm ok spending a little more and buying local. They also remember me from 3 Paws 🐾 and I like that. They asked about my dog and remembered her name. All these things matter to me, you have to decide what matters to you.

Salty's always has a great team to help find the right treats or foods for your pets. If you consistently buy the same food you get the tenth bag for free. They are very dog-friendly and very conscientious of covid safety.

The staff here is so friendly and helpful, every time I walk by my pups want to pull me in because there are always treats and lots of friends to greet.They also are happy to special order items that they may not usually carry which has made our lives way easier as there are some pet products we use daily that just aren't carried in many stores.I've gone in multiple times with pups at home not feeling well and they have been able to help me pick out what they needed and each time it seems to do the trick and helps my dogs feel better in no time.Absolutely recommend going here for any and all pet needs and also just to meet the friendly staff.

Small store with a decent selection of natural brands, but not as much as larger natrural pet stores. Dog food was mostly small expensive bags and not a big selection of the larger bulk dog foodm There is no parking besides limited street parking. Also they force you to wear a disposable mask eventhough it isn't the law anymore. Overall not impressed by price, selection, lack of parking and mask mandate. Appreciate it being natural and raw focused and also being family owned. Major fail on the masks.

Don’t purchase from here. I attempted a return of a food (unopened, I purchased from another store that let me return it and replace it) that made my cat vomit while on vacation. They didn’t have the other food I normally use and told me they don’t return and only accept store credit. I’m out of town so this does nothing for me. They didn’t offer any other solution. It was kinda baffling. Wouldn’t ever go here or recommend it to someone in the area. Mud Bay is way way better anyway.

We’ve been loyal customers for a decade and recently an employee chased our three year old over to me and unkindly told me that everyone must wear masks. They also spray sanitized a pet toy she was admiring right in front of us with a lot of aggression. We won’t ever be returning.

I love this pet store, and so does my pup! Everyone who works there is so welcoming. They take the time to ask how your dog is doing, they remember us each time. It's a great place to stop in for a healthy natural treat for your dog .
