This place ROCKS! I’m a professional dog trainer and use a ton of food in training. Their raw food selection is incredible plus they carry biothane long lines…I’m in love! I LOVE everything about this store! I live in Eugene and I make it a point to stop here anytime I head north to visit family in Washington. Staff are hands down some of the most kind and knowledgeable people I’ve met in the pet industry.Their product selection is impressive. I’m a huge fan of their extensive options in relation to minimally processed foods and treats. It isn’t just the same rotation of brands that are seen most places, for example: Acana, Open Farm, Stella & Chewy’s… which I do appreciate certain aspects of, but it’s so awesome to be able to learn about other companies that are running smaller operations.I could go on, but it’s probably best I stop here. Everyone here is so knowledgeable and helpful. The staff clearly cares about your pets’ nutrition. Despite not living in Portland, I make a point to come here every time I’m passing through. They have a wide selection of raw foods, varied treat options, and the cutest toys.Thanks for being my Portland touchstone! My dogs appreciate your expertise too.

We are transitioning our kids from BARF to the Prey model, and this wonderful place carries the ingredients. We drive 2.5 hrs to stock up, or we stock up on our way from PDX. 10% off your order when purchasing at least 20# of frozen food. Very affordable buying here

Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. We have two Irish wolfhounds and feed them raw. I was picking up some food a few days ago and had an incident with my pups and the slider of my car opening up on its own, and then 250lbs of 10 months old IW’s jumping out in excitement. I grabbed their collars and held on for dear life. I screamed for help and within seconds an employee and customer were there to help me. I can’t tell you how grateful I am. And then another employee came out and hung with them while I took care of my order. Between the great product they sell, the wonderful staff, and the customers who shop there, they have a customer for life with me!

I started coming here recently for all of my raw food diet needs. They basically have everything I need, except a few supplements. The staff have always been super friendly and helpful in starting my journey into raw feeding. My puppies love it!!

Meat on Burnside is one of the top premium food stores for cats and dogs in the greater Portland area. My friend’s great dane loves to visit once a week or so!They have a very helpful, courteous staff that makes every visit to the store quite enjoyable. The selection of foods (particularly their raw section) is second to none, and their prices are very fair for the quality you get in return.Meat also has a great selection of treats and toys, which makes it great for one-stop shopping for pups and kitties! They also have a discount program on certain items and you earn points on each purchase, which saves you even more with the more you purchase. A/A+

Meat is the best and my go to pet store for my dogs in Portland! I went in looking for a very specific product for tick prevention. They didn’t have it, but ordered it for me and it arrived within a few days, and the manufacturer threw in a few bonus items. The staff is also delightful and super helpful.

The absolute greatest!!! I live in Gresham & I am more than willing to make the 20-30min drive to come here & pickup supplies! I love their wide variety & selection of foods, toys, supplements for BOTH cats & dogs! Their big thing is helping to make it easier to provide your pets a raw diet & having lots of options for you, and that they do! I had no idea where to start with getting my animals started with adding fresh meats to their diets that I felt safe giving them! I then found this awesome place last October on the way back from the pumpkin patch lol!I can't recommend this place enough! All the employees & owner are all so incredibly sweet & helpful! Prices are pretty typical for being in Portland area, so don't expect big chain pet store prices, but the quality is well worth the price!

This place is the best! Heidi and her staff are very knowledgeable about pet nutrition and they genuinely care about every single animal (and their human purchasing assistant) that comes through the door. They take the time to ask about your nutrition concerns, talk to about some recommendations for food and supplements, and won’t let you leave without samples and a plan. Heidi and her staff do so much to raise money for local causes and shelters and that makes me feel even better about spending my money here. We love Meat!!

I had haven't been inside, the times I visited was during the 6' apart Covid shut downs. Some businesses were opening on a lmtd basis .I'm thankful MFC&D were operating limited during the Covid. True dedication to the welfare of people's pets ! They set up a table outside the shop and they would bring you your order. My little Chihuahua Sissy is super lucky her kidneys are starting to go. She's 17! Green tripe is a perfect food for dogs with kidney disease Meat for Cats and Dogs was open during the Covid. The people I met were friendly and knowledgeable and they had what I needed, the green tripe. I ordered ahead ensuring the item would be ready. Meat for cats and dogs sells green tripe ; it comes packaged fresh frozen, ready to go.I'm 100% recommendingMeat for Cats and Dogs to people with cats and dogs. All I've tried so far is the green tripe, and I'll be trying more. I'll be visiting again soon and this time I get to go inside

I was so impressed by the customer service! Right now, during Covid 19, they provide on line orders for curbside pick up. I wasn’t aware of the changes, so as I walked up and realized that I was doing it wrong, the employee who helped me was more than eggar to help!I forgot to buy my dog a present for his 2nd birthday! So I handed her $17 in cash (All I had on me) and said “grab whatever you can for $17”She returned after a quick few minutes and had put together the best Assorted gift bag For my pup! I was saved!!!! The items she picked out were amazing and my dog loved them!We have always, and will continue, to shop at Meat! Thanks for your help!

They are always friendly here. We usually can find what we are looking for. They are one of the few pet stores that have raw rabbit nuggets for cats. They also have this pretty neat rewards program where I believe if you buy a certain number of bags of food you get one bag free.

The employees are informative and not pushy. The inventory here is extensive, which to some (like me) may be overwhelming.I usually don't seek out or accept help from pet store employees (generally speaking - they have no clue what they are talking about and aren't informed enough to make recommendations). I did not find this to be the case at Meat for Cats and Dogs. The employee who assisted me was well informed about what they carried and helpful in my decision-making process.I will be returning and recommend dog and cat owners to check this place out. Your pets will thank you.

I spoke to a very knowledgeable staff member named Raven on the phone about what I could do to help my ginger cat and his urinary problems, they were so kind and helpful! When I went into the store they remembered me and gave me even more advice/recommendations/sample products! It was so reassuring to speak to someone who had gone through the same thing and validated my frustration with the pet care/options offered by a traditional vet. It’s always a lovely experience and I can’t wait to go back to let them know all their recommendations worked for my chunky orange cat baby.
