I just have to come on here and give my utmost thanks to ARK rescue. Back in December I rescued a cat at the time named “Amelia “ who has really become THE BEST decision I have ever made. She (now named Arla) is the sweetest, funniest, and in my humble opinion…. the most gorgeous cat to ever walk the earth. She has been so patient with my two toddlers and literally brings me untold joy. Working with ARK was a great experience. Getting to come in and sit with the cats and see their separate personalities and see who was the “right fit” for me and my family was a great way to enter the adoption journey. She had a rough go of life before coming home with me and so quickly came out of her shell and gained weight and is now just the epitome of health and happiness. I recommend ARK to anyone who will listen and I am forever thankful for them, for finding me my best friend. THANK YOU!

(1 YEAR UPDATE)Cleo now only responds to the name "Stink," she is still living it up and has many toys and a very large cat tree. She has a younger brother now named Biff and they're best buds. A few months after adoption we noticed some breathing issues and turns out she has asthma. I am SO glad she ended up with us, asthma is very hard for cats, my sister is a vet tech and we can properly care for her. Again I am SO THANKFUL for ARK accepting us to be Cleo's owners, I feel it was meant to be. If you adopt from ARK just know you may end up with a best friend and adorable family companion (ORIGINAL REVIEW )We adopted our cat Cleo from ARK back in March of 2023 and she is the sweetest little cat ever. The adoption location is so adorable and staff was super friendly both online and in person, when we went to pick up Cleo there was one person working and she did a fantastic job helping us and giving attention to all other customers. If we plan on adopting another furry friend we would adopt from ARK again. Here is some pictures of Cleo living it up since being adopted

My friends and I come in at least once per week to visit the animals, and it's the best. The rescue encourages sitting and loving all of their kitties, and they also have the cutest, sweetest pups for adoption. They also have a little store full of toys, collars, leashes, bowls, etc which is a great way to support their mission. Please come and visit them, and take one of their precious babies home!

We adopted a very sweet kitten for my mother-in-law through ARK. ARK Pet Rescue made it so easy! They had clearly given “Sugar” wonderful care during her foster care as she warmed up to my wild boys immediately! She was up to date in all of her health care needs! ARK does some amazing things for animals in need in the community and beyond! Thank you for all your amazing work!

The best place ever! I just go there to hang out with the animals! The owner Daria is so nice and made sure we had all the stuff for my puppy Pepe! And I could tell they were sad when he left which just showed how much they love their animals animals here! 👍🏻 Totally a thumbs up! Pepe has been the best dog ever. We just celebrated his 1st Birthday and he is happy and healthy. Great place!

We adopted a sweet girl named Honey. ARK Pet Rescue let us adopt her who was experiencing symptoms of kennel cough. We did not know this when we adopted her. We have a senior dog at home. He now has kennel cough and WE have to pay for it. We don’t even know if he is going to be okay. They were fully aware that we had this other dog at home. And let us adopt a sick dog. They have so called “vets” who come and look over the dogs. But the vet that we took her to said that they probably don’t even have a licensed vet on staff. I’m sure they take their animals to get checked out at veterinary offices. But if they took our dog to the vet they would have said SOMETHING about her non-stop coughing and runny nose. WE had to pay $133 for her kennel cough treatment. And we have to pay again for our other dog now.

Wonderful rescue - if you're looking to add a furry friend to your family, I absolutely recommend checking ARK first! They genuinely care about the animals they have in their care.

This was such a cool place to visit! There's a big tortious walking around, a few dogs, one could say greet, adorable guinea pigs, and a kitty room with places to sit and pet friendly kitties. The staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable! I immediately fell in love with a puppy, and my son found an outfit for his dog at home.

I've never been to a place that cares more for animals than ARK. They have the nicest staff, coolest shop but most of all really want to see each living thing that comes through their doors find a loving, permanent home. It's obvious from the moment you step through the door and are greeted by their staff. I will always make this my first stop when looking for new furry friends!

I was going to be a foster mom but failed with my first foster. ARC was so great about setting me up to foster, making sure I had all the supplies I needed and supporting me when I wasn’t sure I should adopt. Zeke is my best friend and I wouldn’t have had him if it wasn’t for the great staff at ARK. It breaks my heart to think about how close he came to being euthanized and I am forever grateful to Daria and the staff at ARC who saved him and six others, and arranged for them to come here from California to start new lives. Photos of his first day and now. ❤️❤️❤️

Love what they're doing here. I realize that there's mostly volunteers but it's very hard to get in contact with someone there after a rescue. Our kitten needs to get spayed ASAP. We email, no reply. Try calling, they're not taking phone calls. Never had this problem with the animal shelter when we adopted there.

Below is the advice I would give a friend. This review is both to encourage better investigation for the adopter, while challenging ARK Pet Rescue to up the level of conversation and transparency they have with the adopter. Take into account that ARK is a small family business with limited resources. We want them to flourish! So, the objective is to provide constructive feedback. It is vital to the adopter that you research your options against other adoption organizations and rescues before making a decision on a future pet. Since ARK didn't readily divulge some of the information that has impacted us these last couple days, it is of vital importance to your adoption experience that you ask for a thorough record of vaccination, a list of what medications the pet has been given (current and past), and what health issues the staff has noticed. While we appreciated the staff's courteousness and friendliness, this was about the highest level of insight and professionalism we were offered. They are wonderful people, however, I believe that vitally missing here is a proactive conversation with an adopter regarding the background of the animal. To their credit they did provide a complete medical record at the time adoption was initiated, but I encourage you requesting this BEFORE adoption as part of your evaluation. It was only after bringing our puppy home on New Years Eve, that we were made aware of serious vomiting and diarrhea (every 2-3 hours for the last two days). Her record showed an anti-viral and anti-biotic administered the previous week leading us to believe she could have been showing pre-existing illness not divulged. The area of improvement I can see for ARK's operation, is to have a 1:1 conversation with the adopter (history in hand) as part of a pet visit. This would have given us a chance to notice that the pup was already on an anti-diarrhea medication, and ask deeper questions as to why. (In just two days we have incurred a large veterinary bill for visit, GI tests, and medications.)The current agreement between ARK and the adopter indemnifies ARK from any illnesses at the time of adoption, additional veterinary fees, etc. (Understandable, as as they are a pet rescue and not a breeder.) However, the drawback to a release of liability with such one-sided indemnification, is that an informal "don't-ask-don't-tell" policy can arise, a lack of transparency, and perhaps a more relaxed standard of infection and cross-contamination prevention. I am not claiming this is the case, just that it could be.I encourage the adopter to ask rigorous questions, look for markers of cleanliness, question any that seem below best practice, and record any information that was not divulged during your visit.ARK is young for a business (2020) started by a college student. I love the bold choice for the owner to chase her dream and passion for pet rescue. I hope my feedback leads to increased professionalism and transparency, creating more promoters and great success.

I will never adopt from this "rescue" aka puppy mill and I make sure to warn others to avoid adopting from them as well.In March of 2023, this year, I adopted a puppy who was around 8 weeks old at the time of adoption. Like everyone else, I paid $700 for her. At the time of the adoption, they told me she had runny poop and she was very much bloated, they chalked it up to be coccidia. I followed as they instructed and treated her for it. Unfortunately, she only worsened. After only having her for 3 days, I noticed her appetite was depleting and she was rapidly losing weight. I took her to an emergency vet when she started to projectile vomit what little she had left in her stomach. The vet ran tests and confirmed she did not have coccidia but in fact did have parvo. I have another adult dog at home who was exposed to the environment and the adopted pup. Prior to her, we had no problems with parvo and fortunately, he did not get it from her. I informed ARK immediately and asked that they reach out to those who adopted her siblings to warn them they may have been exposed to parvo as well. I assume they didn't do so as they didn't respond to that. I attempted to warn other on their FB post and they promptly blocked me. My puppy was then hospitalized where I did everything to keep her alive. Unfortunately, she died merely ten days after I had adopted her. I was told that I did not have her long enough for parvo to have been contracted from my property and to develop symptoms so rapidly; the vet confirmed that she had gotten it prior to adoption.ARK's communication was very much lacking and only responded when I pressed urgency. While I would have taken legal action, my funds were completely depleted after taking care of the pup and the only thing ARK offered was her adoption fee, which I agreed to only $600 as the other $100 was a holding fee prior to her adoption day.Unfortunately this is not the first or the last incident I have heard about after the death of my pup. I got in contact with two other women who experienced a parvo puppy from ARK within the last 2 years and have had MULTIPLE encounters of people who have adopted sick animals from ARK. While I understand shelters are riddled with illnesses, I have NEVER seen one be so problematic in multiple ways and lack any empathy for those they hurt.I cannot stress this enough, please notice the red flags and read the reviews to your rescue.- Ark has had multiple negative reviews about the care of their animals- Their "contract" makes sure they carry NO liability for your animal as soon as adoption is done. Most rescues will offer their services if your pet is deemed sick shortly after adoption.- They do not practice with licensed vet, rather, they are friendly with one and take advice- Vets will NOT count their vaccinations as true vaccines as they are subject to not being stored or given to the animal properly.- They are puppy and kitten seekers. While they do adopt out animals of all ages, they primarily look for puppies or kittens to bring in as they are much easier to adopt out and can be adopted out for a lot more than an adult would.

LOVE this pet rescue!! My husband and I go every few months just to hang out with the animals. It's a lovely calm environment. The cat room is pretty awesome if you want to chill with the cats. The boutique has great quality products too.

I called today to ask some questions about a dog i adopted and ask about the litter as well. Got a very crappy attitude from whoever was working today, it was absolutely ridiculous. Not happy with the service considering I was trying to get help, will not be contacting again!

We had a great experience adopting our pup through ARK. One of the best decisions we’ve ever made! It is very obvious that Daria and her team care a great deal about all of the animals and try so hard to rescue as many as they can. We love to go visit and love on the ones in the shelter whenever we are in town. We love the shelter and how clean it is. The animals are well cared for. They also usually have kittens and puppies if you’re set on starting out with a baby as well as older animals too! Please adopt, don’t shop.

They have a room full of outstanding cats! The owner is sweet and friendly and let us just hang out with the kitties. We bought cat toys just to play with the little monsters!

UPDATE: Like several others, we have tried to reach out to ARK to have our puppy neutered and can't get a response. They don't answer their phone or emails. I've been trying for over a month. It was supposed to be covered by the adoption fee we paid, but now we're going to have to pay again at our local vet.Original review: We had a great experience adopting our puppy here. They were very easy to work with!

We adopted a puppy back in March. He was 9 weeks old. When we questioned his ribs showing, the lady said his mom was skinny and lanky, so that was just his build. He has put on weight and after several months, his ribs no longer show! When we questioned him having runny poop right before we left, we were told he had just had a diet change. We took our puppy home and he pooped 5 times in a short period of time and each time it got runnier and then we saw blood. After taking samples in to our vet, we found he had Giardia and Coccidia. The Coccidia infection was so bad, it required two treatments to get rid of. When we let ARK know, they made no comment. We had been warned by one of their former employees to not adopt from this rescue and I wish I had listened. Our puppy can’t be kept in a crate as he becomes extremely anxious and poops in it. He then steps in it and gets it everywhere as he claws to get out. We can only guess his time as a rescue and conditions at Ark behind closed doors has led to this. We have been dealing with trying to get reimbursed for paying for him to be neutered and for the first month of pet insurance they charge you and promise to reimburse you once you get the pet neutered and show proof. We did so and Daria said she would Venmo me. We gave her my Venmo and 4 digits of my phone number for acct verification only to find out she paid the wrong account. To this day we have sent many messages and emails, trying to be reimbursed to no avail. Not our fault she did not verify it was the proper Venmo account. We have always rescued and this is the first dog we did not get from the Oregon Humane Society. If you are looking to adopt, please look elsewhere. I would like to think these are good people who are trying to help dogs but given what we have heard from an ex-employee and from our own experience, I think they have other motivations. If nothing else, they need to take in fewer rescues to provide appropriate care for the animals in their rescue. A $700 adoption fee SHOULD allow them to provide proper vet care for these animals & for that amount, you should be getting a healthy pet. I have heard they pay to have negative reviews taken down, so we will see how long this stays up. Hopefully in the meantime, it helps people seek out other adoption options.

We adopted a puppy we had seen on Petfinder. She was so sweet and snuggly. We were told she had been around cats, dogs, farm animals, but it was very apparent that she had never been socialized and she is terrified of everything. She came home with meds for “a little runny poop”, she weighed 8 pounds at 9wks. You could see ribs and her hip bones. It’s been 2weeks, she now weighs 11pounds at 11wks, but is being treated for Giardia, which we are assuming was her “runny poop” issue. We have cats and another dog in our home and small kids, I would probably have still adopted her, but transparency about a sickness that spreads to other pets and humans would have been the right thing to do. Also they say all of their pups are microchipped, but they took her back and did it right as we were adopting her. And the paying for pet insurance even though you pay 600 to adopt and would have to only go to their vet makes it seem like it too good to be true. Luckily we found an amazing vet and did not want to say anything negative, but we got the results of the fecal test and decided we needed to let other people know. It would have been awful for my kids to get attached and then us have to give her back because she was sick and the shelter did not disclose it.

I am so grateful to Daria and tell everyone about this place. We live an hour and a half from ARK on the coast. We adopted a puppy and she got sick. I contacted Daria and she happened to be in my town that day on her day off. She offered to come pick up the puppy and take her back for treatment, saving me over three hours of driving with a sick pup. She showed up with dogs in the back of her pickup truck. She was using her day off to take shelter dogs on an outing to the coast! She kept our puppy for a week and nursed her back to health, getting up every two hours in the night to tend to her. It was clear that this is more than a business, it's a calling. The store itself is clean and really cute. The animals look happy and well tended. We took our puppy back yesterday for a shot, and there were two kittens who were incredibly bonded. ARK has decided, in the best interest of the kittens, to waive the adoption fee for one of them to ensure they stay together. This place is the best and I'd give it more stars if I could!

My hope is that ARK has improved its practices in the time since we have gotten our beloved cats. But I want to give you a little bit of context for the 2 star rating. In 2021 we adopted 2 cats from ARK. We have been super pleased with our animals and love them to bits. However, both of our cats were not spayed as they had assured us they were upon further inspection at the vet. We never recouped anything from ARK. They were very unresponsive to multiple attempts at communication and we even came back to the shelter and we were told folks in charge would call us. We eventually wrote it off as not happening. In addition to this oversight, our second cat was very sick when we got her from this shelter. Ringworm, ear mites and a nasty respiratory infection that lingered for months even after daily treatment. She is all better now, but I can't help but wonder why this shelter even allows animals in that condition to leave their premises. I understand that shelters are breeding grounds for these types of illnesses, but there is a level of responsibility of the shelter to manage the illnesses and provide a level of care before getting animals to families. At a minimum we should have been made aware of our kitties issues so we could have made emergency vet arrangements. The time that passed before we could get her to the vet was painful for her, and I feel bad about that. I don't expect ARK to be responsible for the illness, but the fact that they didn't know or check before adopting her out troubled me and the vet who treated our kitty for these issues.Even with all that being said, I truly believe in the mission of ARK. One of our kitties was going to be euthanized at a shelter in California before being brought to Oregon. I ameternally grateful that ARK stepped up and rescued her from that situation, and she is able to live a wonderful life with us. I do not doubt the love for animals that ARK has, but I do doubt that some of the vital procedural steps to running an ethical animal shelter are being done 100% of the time. I see they reply to comments often saying they are always improving, and I believe that to be true.NOTE: I see that they now have Pet Insurance added in the first month and this is a good addition.

It took time bit Darla and the staff at ARK Pet Rescue stayed with us for the long haul! Chewy was so very sick when we got him and it took a village to get him well. That itty bitty bundle turned into a wonderful pup! Thank you for all you did for us! Shots, vet visits, neuter, helping us at 11:30 pm when he was so sick! You folks are awesome!! 💞

We came close to adopting a sweet puppy with the ARK. They were so supportive and understanding when we decided it wasn’t the right time for us. I was so thankful for their kind volunteers! We will start with them when we are ready to finally adopt our next pet! It’s a great organization!

I have helped Ark with fostering 2 mama's and their babies. The first one, I ended up adopting the mama and my daughter adopted a baby. Yes I was a fail but we love Delila very much. She is so perfect. She came with 5 babies, from the streets of Mexico. The second mama was not well and many of her babies didn't make it.Sadly when they are rescued you don't fully know what their condition is. The rescue is taking a risk but wanting so badly to help these babies.I do hope that you will take a chance by adopting. ( YES more than likely it will be a mut.
