Im so sad my poor aussie got shaved after I specifically asked her to trim him with shears and to please not shave him or buzz him and she didn't listen. And she didn't mention knocking his leg. They also charged me $57 and I'm not impressed

This store has been known to have issues for years now and its sad to see that it only just gets worse and worse. A couple months back one of the mgrs was yelling at an employee in front of customers which has happened multiple times and is completely unprofessional. The people who run this store are emotionally abusive to their employees and severely neglect the animals. Recently this company also went through a big loss one of the Managers sadly passing and ever since the treatment towards employees has gotten worse. Checks off every box for a hostile work environment and they choose to lack communication due to pettiness. I recommend you find somewhere else to go for your pets needs because these people are rotten to the core.

Terrible management both at store location and corporate. I’ve seen things in the grooming shop that should never have taken place in a professional environment. I’ll never shop/work there again. The workers don’t get the respect they deserve or the equipment necessary to do the job. There is a confirmed problem with propane leaking into the ventilation system in the groom shop and also a standing water issue that I doubt has been resolved. They don’t require any other vaccines aside from rabies which makes the place a cesspool for disease and infection. The time it takes to sterilize the area is not allotted in between grooms, most of the time workers will skip it completely. They always use the same sterilization agent, which is not recommend Because the pathogens can grow a resistance. It is recommended that the sterilization agent be alternated every three weeks but they have never done that once. I’ve got a mountain of information that I’ve collected, but these are just some of the highlights.

Hi - I am writing to let you know how incredibly disappointed I am with your La Grande, OR grooming department. First, the price was raised to what I feel is a ridiculous amount for this area for a 10lb dog. I had my dog groomed there a few times over the last year or so. First I paid $49. Then, I was charged $55 yet my sister’s dog that is twice as big was charged $50. Now, it’s a minimum of $65.I made an appointment 2 1/2 weeks ago for Wednesday June 7th. When I arrived, I was told there was a mixup; that they tried to call but had the wrong number. Considering I had been there before, my correct number should have been in the system. The woman says she can give me an appointment for Saturday, June 10th.I didn’t think they did grooming on Saturday but I went ahead and scheduled. I just knew it would get cancelled. Sure enough, at 8:30 this morning, the store called and cancelled.I will never shop at this Petsense ever again.

Do you want your dog to be eaten?While shopping here one afternoon, there were two fellow customers, both with dogs- a larger one and a smaller one. As the larger dog approached the smaller one, the smaller dog started barking, while the larger one remained unphased (keep that in mind, cool as a cucumber). An employee at this Petsense emerged by the folks with the dogs, while the little one continued to bark, and made some very unprofessional remarks towards the little one. "Do you want to be eaten? That big dog could eat you if it really wanted to. I don't think you want to be eaten." And other very odd statements to that effect. Standing there, shocked that an employee would say that to a customer's dog, the owners also looked very distraught. Even if the comments were made in a 'lighthearted' manner, that's still an extremely awful and unprofessional thing to say, especially as a representative of that company. Extremely disappointed and repulsed to say the least.

I took my dog to have her nails clipped today and it was a pretty good experience the Groomer did an excellent job. The cashier name Victoria has excellent customer service skills ! She interacted with my dog and me and my dog who isnt a people person took right to her. She was helpful showing us different toys and treats. I am moved to writing this review because its been so long since Ive gotten customer service this good. I feel like I either have a great experience here or it isn't so great. I wish it were consistent because the good experiences are really awesome.The positives: staff are friendly and helpful and they have a wide variety of things in the store. Staff are typically fairly knowledgeable and willing to help you find what you need.The cons: sometimes it takes a long time to find someone to check you out and they are out of crickets and meal worms more often than they have them in stock. Crickets often die the same day they are purchased. I'm at the point where I'm going to bite the bullet and spend more on shipping my own crickets here. It costs more up front but at least my gecko will have a reliable food source. I wish Petsense would order more or more frequently because I know I'm not the only reptile owner struggling with feeding their critter here.

DO NOT SHOP HERE. Petsense has been misleading the Union County community for at least the past eight months regarding their partnership/donation situation with the only animal shelter located in Union County-Blue Mountain Humane Association. Petsense DOES NOT donate ANY supplies/food or make monetary donations to BMHA and has not in at least eight months. Donations are going to rescues located in Pendleton and Baker City. This is information that has NOT been disclosed to members of the public/people who think their donations are going to BMHA. There was a donation jar located in Petsense that had BMHA's logo on it, and BMHA has not received any of those monetary donations and Pensense refuses to disclose (1) how much money has been donated that was supposed to go to BMHA, and (2) where monetary donations have gone. PLEASE do not shop here. Support local stores that actual partner with and donate to the only shelter located in Union County.

This is about the store side of things, not the grooming.I went to pet sense today in order to get our new dog some supplies. The customer service was good. But I went to look at the fish (my favorite part of coming to any pet store.) All of the betta's were dull in color! (Which means they are severely unhappy and unhealthy.) I had to do something so I picked the saddest looking one, to take home with me. There aquarium section was not good either. Anything recommended for betta's were not the best choice for any fish. I grabbed some supplies that are only temporary. I am really sad that a pet store can treat fish like this. I am ordering off of Amazon for what is needed for this fish.They also never set home a sheet of paper with any care instructions which should be a must for new fish parents, expeshally for young children.

Had good grooming experiences last year with Karla but haven’t seen her the last couple of appointments. The one star I’m giving is for her, she’s awesome. Customer service now is terrible, I see other reviewers with similar experiences. Sorry I won’t back as Karla was great but i don’t like being treated like I’m inconveniencing employees with my business.

Clean store great employees. Love the gal in back...does great job with our dog and clipping nails. (Kat)Toys are very expensive can get same thing a mile down the road atleast 75% cheaper..also don't plan on a direct answer when waiting for a product to come in that you need..I got told item be in 2 days...nope then told me 3 more days...nope not there...so got my money back got one at another store way cheaper...same item .

Terrible! Lost all of our service! The groomer was absolutely rude and did a horrible job with our toy poodle today. We knew he had to be groomed down a lot but not only was it uneven, he was down to almost nothing and it looked like he was treated badly as he has some cuts/bad razor burns. She was also very sassy and had a bad attitude with us and if she is that mean to us, I was very stressed about leaving my dog with her and her possibly hurting him. (Which he did have some bad razor burns). We will not be going back. We paid $51 as well and got a better job done in Vancouver, WA at a pet-smart for $40. Our dog was not happy leaving here and neither were us.

Ordered an item through the store in La Grande. I was told I would get a call about my order and also price matching but received no call. I waited over a week to call as I know it is the holidays and and there had been several road closures, so it might take longer. When I called, employee advised she just got a shipment and would call and let me know about my order. Once again, no call. I waited two more days and called. Employee stated that they were unable to order the item I needed after all. This was an item I really needed. They knew they never even placed the order and didn't bother to let me know so I could keep trying elsewhere. I will definitely not be shopping at this store again. Poor customer service in my opinion.

I really like this store. The employees and management are very knowledgeable of their products and can offer solutions to any pet animal question you might have.They carry products for dogs and cats as well as pet birds, reptiles, and fish. If they don't know or don't have it, they'll refer you to someone/business who can help!They also have kittens for sale that are adoptable through the local animal rescue.This is a store who really IS a part of the community. I patronize them whenever I can. I hope you can too!

This isn’t the place to go if you want your dog groomed. We live in Elgin and had an appointment for both dogs to get groomed, and when we arrived we were told by a VERY rude groomer that they wouldn’t groom one of our dogs. She refused to do anything for us, and now we can’t do anything we planned to do in town because we have a dog in tow. If you’re looking for a groomer, I strongly recommend elsewhere.*side note: Carla has always taken good care of our dogs and is a good groomer, but you can’t make sure you get her, so it’s better off not taking them in the first place.

I love this place! We were traveling through and our dog needed a bath and trim. What usually takes her normal groomer 3 hrs,took a hour and they did just as good if not better. Very friendly and accommodating staff. When we head back we'll stop back in! Thanks to all of you!

Greaatt service always i have been in there so many times! Two of my.fish did get sick but one of them is thriving like no other. I also have bought all of my stuff for my kittens from there and it all works amazing

Really cute store and great selection of items, they definitely have some stuff you can’t find anywhere else. However I felt some of the prices were a little high and one of the toy dog balls I bought was very poorly made and I had to throw it out after 5 minutes of my dog playing with it. Over all I think it’s a great addition to town and I hope it does well.

Everything is a little over priced for our rural economy here in the Grande Rhonde valley, and it certainly doesn't help this store when less than a mile down the road the same products can be purchased for considerably less, with the exception of a few specialty items. The customer service associates are very friendly. The difficult part is finding an associate, and getting one of them behind a register. Unfortunately, it has been my experience on every visit that nobody, I mean nobody, is in any kind of hurry to ring up a customer.

I usually have an okay experience here but when I went in the other day both employees were in the room together talking and no one greeted me or asked what I was looking for so I wondered around. No one was watching the store from the register which I feel is weird. I had a question so I stuck around the register for a few minutes but neither girls came out and continued chatting. It’s really unprofessional.

It would be nice that you guys get more live crickets and mill worms in. You know that they are in high demand. The little amount you get is gone within a hour . I had to go to baker to get again.
