Love the people there. They have such a big heart for animals. Special shout out to a lady named Sandy. She puts the extra 1000% into the 💯 they deliver in saving the defenceless friends that sometimes get left behind or mishandled. Thank you guys for all you do.

I adopted a chihuahua puppy from them 8 months ago and when I found out that no one had adopted the little boy I adopted him as well. I read a negative review just now and I just want to say that my experience was completely opposite! They consulted my vet, checked out my yard, contacted my leasing office to make sure I was allowed to have pets there (I was but I had to pay a $300 pet deposit). Since then we have closed on our new build and installed a privacy fence. The babies are thriving! I would not hesitate to adopt another doggie from them! They are stellar!!!

Very helpful although they couldn't help me place some puppies that were dropped off at my house (4 of them that I'm still burdened with can't find them a home nor can I feed them I already have 7 of my own) I was heart broken that they wouldn't help me but she was nice about it.

Talked to an older woman this morning about placing a dog and she was very short and rude with me. "I don't have a spot and don't know what else to tell you." I get that this is a frustrating time for shelters, but I'm frustrated as well. Being rude isn't helping anyone.

My husband and I went there to get two cats. They had us fill out forms and did nothing with them. They did not contact our vets to verify that we are responsible pet owners. Although we waited and waited to hear if we were going to get the cats we had chosen. During that time we were getting things ready at home. Toys, food, beds, cat proofing the house so they wouldn't get hurt in their new home. Finally we had to call them and they turned us down without giving us a reason. We were very disappointed. We started our own search and finally found two feral little kittens. We brought them home and have been patient and working with them. They have learned to stay in at night and we are now working on daytime. It has been a hard task but it is worth it. It's sad that this pet shelter isn't interested in finding the sweet loving pets a permanent secure home. I wouldn't waste my time at the Poteau pet shelter hoping for a pet, there are other avenues.Peggy T

Applied to adopt a certain dog on June 9. After not hearing from anyone, I called on June 17 and was told they would have approved, but saw in picture I sent that there was a big hole in my fence. I explained that it was no hole, but a storage shed and the fence was attaced on the sides. I then waited until today, June 26d, and called them again. The said "sorry, but there was another applicant that was more suitable. Got on the phone to Sequoyah, gave them a list of my preferences, and they had a dog that was just what I wanted. I am now a dog owner, and it took less than 3 hours!

Friendly staff. Location is a bit out of the way and it's wrong on Google map you'll drive right by it. But they were very helpful taking in the little pup we rescued from the highway they said they have no problems finding a home for him. Good job humane society thank you so much.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. NOT HELPFUL. DIRECTOR IS RUDE AND ACTS "BOTHERED" THAT SHE WAS CONTACTED. UNPROFESSIONAL. DID NOT CARE. TOOK DAYS TO CALL BACK. AFTER I FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS TO GET HELP W A DOG, I NEVER HEARD FROM HER AGAIN. IM GOING TO RESEARCH WHAT AGENCY LICENSES THIS SO CALLED "SHELTER." DIRECTOR NEEDS TO BE DISCIPLINED AND IMMEDIATELY FIRED. THOSE POOR ANIMALS. I WOULD NOT ALLOW THEM TO CARE FOR STUFFED ANIMALS. I'VE LEARNED THAT AROUND HERE YOU GOTTA REALLY CHECK PEOPLE OUT. HER HIGHER STARS ON REVIEWS HAVE TO BE FAMILY OR FRIENDS.

This please is AWFUL AWFUL!! I can’t take care of my puppy anymore because I’m pregnant and they gave me attitude and yelled at me to leave because I can’t just bring my dog up there. There’s reasons there’s no photos of this place on here. It’s dirty. The people are rude and just as gross as the inside of the building. DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMAL HERE.

Not to sure which old lady I spoke to but she told me I should have just killed a kitten rather than saved it and processed to insult me on letting nature take its course on a healthy kitten

I work right across the street from them and they seem like they're pretty good to the dogs. I see them playing with them and actually taking them for walks. They let them out of their cages for time to run around and play with each other... they seem pretty happy in there.

I have visited the facility, the people there love and take care of all the animals. There is a real concern that they fulfill the responsibility of finding good homes.
