I'm not the best person to rate them, as I'm lactose intolerant, but they do have food I can eat, drinks (including really good slushes), and usually a couple of options for me in soft serve. The lobby is the typical roadside ice cream shop dining room, with plenty of natural light. It's in a nice neighborhood, in the quaint city of Waterville, Ohio, right on the Maumee River. Some friends of mine have had the regular ice cream and say it's really good, so I trust their opinions. I've had some of their sandiches and fries, and have no complaints. Definately worth going to if you are in the area, or travelling through on the highway.Dietary restrictions: Low fat, zero fat, sugar free, and lactose free options, but vary on availability.Parking: Decent amount of parking on site, with a large parking area in the shopping strip next door.Kid-friendliness: It's an ice cream parlor, what else is there to say?Wheelchair accessibility: No steps to navigate, and the employees will assist with rhe door if needed.

The service is amazing. They gave me bowls for the kids' cones without me having to ask, and when I forgot an item from my order, they ran it right out to me. Forever our favorite place.

Good place to get ice cream! Nice little family owned business. Staff are friendly but sometimes they seem like they are in a grumpy mood but other than that really good place to get ice cream treats! They also have alot of great signage artwork that will catch your eye inside and will make your mouth water for the dessert

First time visiting this ice cream shop even though I have driven by it hundreds of times in my life. It was awesome. Very clean, has a slight nostalgic old ice cream parlor vibe inside. The two employees were very nice and helped me with choosing since I was new there. The ice cream was delicious, very smooth and creamy. I will definitely have to stop by more often when passing by.

I enjoyed my mint milkshake it tasted good and not like chemicals like some places. The line gets long fast though but it's a nice local ice-cream place.

1st time at the Sweet Retreat in Waterville and looking forward to going back! Great service, variety of ice cream and toppings, and surprising value! My grandson & I both enjoyed a good sized cup of ice cream with customized toppings for less than $5 ... So good; such a sweet surprise!!

Nice place to visit in Waterville,Ohio. It had been awhile since we had been there but the customer service was friendly with a smile as I remembered. They were efficient and the ice cream was delicious. I got a banana boat and my husband got a chocolate shake. I definitely would recommend this ice cream shop.

They have the best turtle sundaes I ever had.I am a turtle sundae lover, so I've tasted a lot of them from many places. Sweet Retreat is worth the drive no matter where you live! Quality ice cream is used and that makes the difference!

Good ice cream, pretty raised front flower bed. This is a basic town ice cream shop dealing primarily in self-serve ice cream. Before 2017 it had a small eating area indoors at the front. Renovations removed the seating area for a new front entrance. Portions are average size and price. Fairly busy in summer months, but not packed. 4-6 picnic tables outside.

Best place for ice cream in the area. Local shop that has supported the community since 1998. Mostly soft serve ice cream with some popsicle-like options. Their turtle Sunday is my favorite and don't forget your four legged friends!

If you're in Waterville, this is a must stop ice cream shop.Either a standard twist or a more health conscious Wow Cow to the perfectly indulgent Turtle Sundae, this place satisfies the sweet tooth. Pricing is good, but even better, a polite, knowledgeable staff.Also, the chicken salad sandwich with a Boston Cooler is a perfect meal at lunch.

Small town ice cream stop with some lunch items. Hot chicken is tasty as is their chili dogs. But please save room for ice cream - they have it all. Any sundae or combo you'd like.

Google led us here from our camping trip at farnsworth metropark, and boy were we happy! I had my first gluten free ice cream cone since I was diagnosed with celiac disease (gluten allergy) and their ice cream was so tasty on top of the surprise cone! Staff was extremely sweet & helpful. The next time we come down from Detroit, Sweet Retreat will definitely be one of our stops!

After a lovely, but hot time kayaking on the Maumee at Farnsworth Park, we decided that ice cream would be a great way to cool-off before the drive home. Happily we found Sweet Retreat near downtown Waterville. The menu board offered a large array of snacks, sundaes, shakes and other ice cream treats (I think both soft-serve and hard-dip are available.The two young adults working the counter were personable, polite and efficient. They cheerfully and enthusiastically answered our questions about the various offerings. My friend got the Buckeye sundae which she said was very good. I ordered a chocolate peanutbutter shake. It wasn't on the menu, but the servers readily offered to fix one...and it was delish.Alas, to maintain proper distancing guidelines, their air conditioned and sparkly clean lobby was closed for eat-in, but they have lots of tables with umbrellas for those who wish to dine on site.We found a shady bench to park on while enjoying our treats. The service is swift as demonstrated by how quickly we observed other patrons and families going in and out (we decided they were regular customers who knew what they wanted).So, if you're looking for a cool treat in Waterville, I recommend Sweet Retreat.

I am not from around here, but always come here when I have the chance. Wide variety of stuff to choose from. Soft server portions are good, and different specialty choices. Amazing staff as well!
