We had a great time booking with Hocking Hills Adventures. We booked a shorter trip the day we went. The river was calm and relaxing. My son and I rented a tandem kayak on this trip and we loved it. The souvenir shop was full of cute shirts and trinkets. We ended up buying some really cool stuff there. The staff was super friendly and informative. We will definitely book again when we come back and will also book the longer trip.

So disappointed in how poorly run this livery is. We had a group of 7 reserve kayaks on Labor Day. Nobody checked our IDs when we checked-in, so anyone could have said they were a part of our reservation. The front desk gave us a paper to hold onto and give back at the end of our trip to ensure everyone was off the river before closing. There was no safety discussion with their customers and no mention that the river water levels were so low that you had to carry your kayaks/canoes across rocks at certain areas of the river - I live near Hocking so I wasn't shocked since I knew there hadn't been a lot of rain - but for anyone that traveled would have had no idea of the river conditions. A 2-3 hour trip took us 5 hours to get through because the water was so low. While the livery cannot control water conditions, they can control the communication to customers about this.We reached the end of the trip at 5pm and were greeted with no one. There was no one down by the river exit to help people get their kayaks/canoes/tubes out of the water. It was clear that no one had been working that area for a while because it was so backed up that our group couldn't reach the bank to dock. The photo I've attached shows only 1/3 of all the equipment left by the river. There were empty kayaks and canoes floating down the river because it was so crowded. Our group had to crawl over kayaks and canoes just to get to the bank. I'm shocked that this livery thinks it's acceptable to close early and let customers fend for themselves. When we reached the office and saw it was closed, we realized there was literally no one there to ensure their customers had exited the river safely and that everyone was accounted for. What's the point in giving people the paper at the beginning of the trip if there's no one there to collect it at the end? Someone who wasn't a part of our group was panicking because the office had held his car keys while he was on the water and he had no way to get them back since the office was closed and there were no employees around to assist.I've been kayaking more times than I can count and I've never experienced such carelessness in regards to their customer's safety. I'll take my business to Fox's livery and avoid this mess in the future.

We spent a weekend here with friends! We had a great time. Bathrooms/shower house were decent and fairly clean online it said they close but they were open the whole time which was nice. The campground wasn’t busy at all we were the only camper on our side. We did have some rude loud people arguing across from us but it was entertaining and made us feel like we were back in Toledo 😂 the go carts and mini golf weren’t bad. Staff was friendly and helpful. We definitely plan to come back again. My only complaint is the grass needed cut on our side and the road through the campground was pretty rough to drive on! Most the trails and site seeing was within 30 mins which wasn’t to bad.

We made reservations to ensure we had kayaks and it was so simple! Everything was done online so all we had to do upon arriving was tell them our names & get our paddles and head to the bus. 7 mile trip down the river so awesome!!!

Take the 7 mile trip and stop to take the short hike up to the rick bridge. Its totally worth it. We kayaked, but canoes and rafts were also an option. The water was flowing and easy to navigate. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful day on the water.

We had a large group for a family reunion and HHA made the booking process easy (plus a group discount); they were also very accommodating with changes- we added one person and then canceled at the last moment and they were very helpful. Our trip had to be changed the day of due to river conditions but they refunded the difference and it turned out the shorter trip we ended up on was perfect for our group. I'd definitely go with HHA again!

We stayed in the snapper cabin, played mini golf, rode go karts and did the 7 mile canoe trip. Best trip ever! Ben at the campground went above and beyond making us feel welcome and helped with anything we needed. Ryan at the canoe livery was amazingly helpful and gave us tips for other local spots to check out. Everyone we came across working with this company was incredibly pleasant, even with the heat and covid going on. Highly recommend hocking hills adventures!

This was our first time here at this campground. We stayed during the week (on a Tuesday - Wednesday) in the Fall (October) and we were thrilled. There were only 3 other families staying in the campground and they were all on the opposite side. The sites weren't labeled too clearly, it was tough to see exactly where we should set up. I don't think we set up in the proper spot but nobody was around so it worked just fine. We ended up right by the river, near what I guess is their 'beach'.You do need to check in, just down the road, which we didn't do (thought it was a no-contact check-in...completely wrong on my part). Staff did come by that evening to make sure we were supposed to be there. They were friendly, not upset at all, told us to have a great stay and that was it!The sites aren't really separate from each other, you can clearly see everything in the other sites around you. Not bad if you don't mind it, we prefer privacy so we were glad nobody else was there.Plenty of port-o-lets but it's a primitive site campground so no running water, no flushing toilets, no showers...which is fine. Again, primitive camping. There was a site across from us that had a ripped tent and some other items that had just been abandoned. Looked like it had been there a while, surprised it hadn't been picked up and disposed of. Other than that not too much trash. I would recommend putting trash cans or a dumpster somewhere. If they were there we didn't see any.It is close to the road, a train track is across the river (it is a live track) and not far from a highway / busy road (not from the area, looked like a highway to me). While it's not silent the road noise isn't too bad.Speaking of roads, the speed limit is 5 mph in the campground and you really have no choice but to do that...so many dips, holes, etc in the dirt driving path! Not a complaint, just know you will have to go slow and if your car is lowered you may have some issues. But who's camping in a lowered car?Would we stay here again? Maybe. Not on the weekend and not during the busy season when it's full...that's just not for us. We had a clean, safe place to stay with friendly people that came by to make sure we were supposed to be there. What more can you ask for?

Get place to stay if you don’t want to spend a lot but have the necessities. My boyfriend and I stayed two nights for our anniversary on an electric campsite, in total we spent $74. This campsite had very nice bathrooms/ showers. Sometimes there’s a line for the bathrooms but if you go at an odd time you should be fine. They also have mini golf and a fun center for kids. The only thing that didn’t meet my expectations is the “beach” near the primitive campsites. There’s not much of anything there.

We did the Crockett's Run Tour. We did the 9 am float. It said to be there a half hour early, but that was not needed for the first float of the day. Staff arrived at 8:50. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The parking is in a field on the land next to the the main building. You take a small foot bridge over to the waiting area. They had restrooms on site, fitted us for life vests and paddles and took us to the drop off site. They helped us get into the canoe safely and sent us on our way. There had been quite a bit of rain before our canoe trip so the water was higher than normal, but made it so we didn't have to get out of the canoe to move it when it bottomed out (which happens a lot in the summer) There were some little rapids which made it fun. Due to the higher water, our trip was about 1.5 hours It was very peaceful. There were a few limbs in the water which made it fun to navigate around them. The water was very clear in some places and there was little trash along the river. Overall a GREAT trip. Would suggest trying it! We will be back!

It’s really an adventure for first timers for canoeing or kayak here. The water is not shallow or deep. And water flow is normal. It took us 2 hours to finish 7 mile trip. It was fun.

You can still have fun in the outdoors. They are following distancing and wear a mask when you can't distance in office area and on bus. Helpful crew pick out a kayak or canoe for your trip. River was low and shallow in some areas. Wear water resistant type shoes cause you will be walking part ways to return the craft you used. Too shallow to float up to return right now. Bathrooms at site need some attention.

It was a perfect day for us to go and it made the trip even better! Check in process was up to date with social distancing. The bus ride was packed full but everyone had masks on. The crew was professional and courteous. It was such a beautiful relaxing time. The route provided a lush tree lined creek to floaton through. There were nice shaded areas and some spots that were uncovered. People were having a great time. They were pulled off to the shore side and there were areas where it's like a beach for resting, eating, and drinking. If you want more privacy just float on by. The creek is big enough for all. It's worth the trip if you live near Columbus Ohio. It's only less than an hour drive. I had a great time and will be going back again soon!

What a fun girls trip we had. It's a long ride, pack a lunch, and be prepared to have to pee in the dirt 🤦‍♀️ there's no bathrooms as you float for miles. But we had such a good time!!!!

Booking was easy, customer service was friendly and the trip was fun! I did the 7 mile kayak which had some difficult spots to navigate but overall was really enjoyable.

We've been twice in the last two months with large groups to canoe. The staff handles everyone quickly and efficiently with appropriate social distancing measures. We really enjoy the Hocking River. Its runs swiftly enough to carry you down river most times without needing to paddle the whole way and is deep enough most of the time so you're not walking and dragging your canoe.

We had to schedule 24 hours in advance, which sounds like a great thing... This means they'll be organized and have a plan right? They'll have all this set up and ready to go for tommorow, smooth sailing! we schedule for 1. We arrived at 12:30, 30 mins early. They were running a little behind they said "because we're short on kayaks". We ended up waiting for an hour past our time we were supposed to be on the water. Finally at 2:00 they put us on a bus to go the water. They managed to miscount 11 kayaks... So now we are standing in the sun for another 30 mins still waiting on kayaks! We should be finishing up right about now and we haven't even touched the water yet. So after standing there for another 30 mins they pull up with like 40 kayaks... From a customer perspective.. every single thing company is responsible for was mishandled. Parking was awful. Waiting around was awful far far beyond "a little behind". The life jackets looked like they haven't been washed or used in decades. The employees seemed to hate their jobs, or just hate how heavy the kayaks are I dunno. The saving grace here for me was Lou, the manager, did come out with the 40 kayaks. He went up to everyone there that wanted to complain. He took full responsibility, apologized, and said he'd do whatever it took to make it right. I think that's a pretty big deal. This clearly is not the way he wants things to run. And for people thinking about coming here I think it's important to know that Lou is not just looking to make money. He ultimately does want you to enjoy yourself. Hopefully there's improvements. The water was great. I don't give them credit for that though, not like they had anything to do with it being created. I had a good time. It would be a great time with another company though.

A fun adventure for sure! Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Went with all the kids in the morning and had so much fun I took my girl in the afternoon. Two "7 Mile" trips in one day but it went by too fast. Highly recommend.

The staff here were pleasant, and very helpful with us when we checked in. We had managed to reserve the wrong days for our memorial weekend trip camping in Hocking Hills (our own fault), and they were very understanding. They managed to find us a gorgeous primitive site as an alternative for our camping and we had a wonderful time there camping in the beautiful forest on site. The restrooms were immaculate and site was well maintained. Definitely staying there next time we're in Hocking Hills.

Although I did not have time to enjoy all of the activities offered at this campground, it was a very nice place for tent camping. The check in staff and staff throughout the campground were friendly and helpful. The beach area was close to any of the campsites and may of the sites are directly along the river. The only reason it did not get 5 stars is because you can't safely walk to the more well known Hocking Hills attractions (although it is a very short drive). The price is great and it is not packed full of people or super rowdy. This will be my go to for tent camping in the area.

This use to be or go to livery in the hocking hills. I can't count the times we've been and loved it. I still want to love it for many reasons. Unfortunately, the last two times we've been, we've had to leave and go to the other livery. The first time we asked that they haul our kayaks and we were told they weren't doing it on that particular day. It had nothing to do with the river, they were taking other trips out. It wasn't extremely busy either. We tried a second time to have our kayaks put in by them, but the price was much higher per kayak than we had paid the previous time at the other place. We took our family of 4 elsewhere again and saved quite a bit of money by doing so. Again, I want to love it. I just don't want to waste time and money by continuing to stop there and then going elsewhere each time.

Such a fun trip! You can spend the whole day out on the river canoeing or kayaking. Prices are reasonable. We had a lot of fun and we were able to make a whole day out of it. Highly reccomend doing this!

We camped at riverside campground during a calmer weekend. The campground was fairly empty, the roads a bit muddy, and there appeared to be someone living at the campground. But the porta potties were clean, the price was right, the view was nice, and it was a quiet campsite with lots of grass and flat spots for the tent. It was a little further from the state park than I realized. So overall a good experience.

My wife and I went kayaking here after I had been with a group. We chose a Monday so it would be less crowded. Drake took amazing care of us. We had originally picked tubes but decided a tandem kayak was a better option. Drake got us all the way together for a decent price and little to no trouble. If you are looking for family fun in the Hocking hills this is your jam! Ask for Drake, he's the man!

We had so much fun canoeing here! The prices are fair and the trips you can choose from are totally worth every dollar. The staff members are all friendly and helpful. It's a great trip to make! Highly reccomend you do the 7 mile trip and make a day out of it!

We did the primitive tent camping over Labor Day weekend. All we really needed for a 2-night stay was a campsite and a toilet, and we got what we came for. We are glad we ordered 2 campsites for our party of 5 sleeping in 3 tents because there was only 1 fire ring between the two sites (which wasn’t a problem for us). Our campsite clean and mowed (aside from a dog poop bag the trash pickup left in the fire ring) and was a short walk from the porta-potties which were the level of cleanliness to be expected during a busy weekend. The primitive campsite was next to the riverside which was neat, and separated from the main campground check-in, shower house, bathrooms, go karts, etc. We were unable to use the shower house due to long lines of people, but again, it was to be expected on a busy holiday weekend.

Awesome staff and well managed. This was our 2nd time coming to camp and it just as awesome as the first time. Go-karts were open but we didn’t get a chance to go because of the rain.

We camped here for the weekend and the campsites were well tended, clean and had a wonderful waterside view! People were around, but no one was too loud and there was a comfortable distance between campsites, great experience!

What a beautiful place! I have been there twice at the primitive camp sites. The sites are HUGE and well kept without losing that rustic beauty. I stayed there alone the first time and they made it a point to check on me before leaving for the day when the office closed. I thought that was so nice and I appreciated it so much! VERY friendly staff! It's my new favorite place and I can't wait to go back!
