Overall, it was a satisfactory experience. However, I would have appreciated it if they had provided me with an estimate of the costs before proceeding with the treatment. The total charge for the medication for my cat's UTI exceeded $400, which was a significant financial burden for us. Nevertheless, the staff demonstrated exceptional kindness and compassion, which helped alleviate my concerns. It is worth noting that the staff at this establishment consistently exhibits remarkable courtesy and professionalism, making it one of the most pleasant public places I have encountered. I express my gratitude to all involved for their assistance.

The staff understand triage, even if the public doesn't as much. The front desk were 2 of the nicest gals I've interacted with. Very kind, cordial & matter of fact. Dr. Ryan & Hannah LVT were good to me & my dog. Dr Ryan listened to my history for my dog & she was quite amenable to my thoughts & suggestions. I feel that my dog was given the appropriate amount of time & treatment for the issue that brought us there. Urgent care or emergency visits are stressful even under good conditions but it was a GOOD visit & I ended up following up with my vet a few days later, as Dr Ryan had suggested.

Please understand this is based on our true experience. They knew we had a litter of pups we made it very clear over the phone and before we drove 28 min. I truly feel the staff at MetVet in Girard did not make us feel welcomed or comfortable. Roberta was not rude but made it very clear she was not worried about our puppies but if I had the proper cash. Roberta was throwing ridiculous numbers to see if this would turn us away. Well it did, because she also ask us to choose the pup we thought was worth saving. What?! Staff seem clueless working around litters. The minute she seen I had Rottweiler it’s like her mood and words shifted to focusing on how to get us to lose confidence in their abilities and focus on saying maybes and the price will add up for each pup individually instead of as a litter. She said you might want to choose which pup is more important. Roberta never looked inside to see the pups at all. She made it clear that each pup was going to cost us 150 per pup for them to look at. After that I felt she and the front desk made sure we felt uncomfortable with the all the maybes and definitely the prices. MetVet in Girard truly profiles their potential customers and obviously their animals breed also. Can we just have knowledgeable and competent Vets staffing in the Ohio area! I will share this experience with friends, love ones and Residents. Hopefully those people will do the same and tell a friend. By me sharing this experience to 2 other people they will share this with 4 others and that 4 hopefully tells 10 more people about how we lost 2 additional pups coming to Girard MetVet it truly was a waste of our pups life. Staffs energy shows how unhappy they are with their job at this MetVet location in Girard. My Fiancé and I were able to save the remainder of our pups on our own and by the power of prayer. This allowed us to relax we were able to gain confidence in ourselves and was able to think… We bought everything we needed to save the remainder of Candies pups! Amazon and Petsmart had the incubator, alternative milk, etc…. The power of prayer and the internet helps. I say use your money to buy what you need. We have an appointment with another vet in Austintown that has litter experience for a first visit for the mother and her pups. Like it should be even if it’s an emergency situation. Fees might be higher but should not be charge as individual pets. MetVet I’m Girard should create a price for exam fees for mother and litters and of course there will be additional cost if other things are done.MetVet in Girard needs to DO BETTER.

We were in need of care for a neighborhood cat that we have recently adopted. She was having difficulty urinating & in discomfort . I called 3 vets & angels , no one could or would work her in. Thank goodness for med vet. Without them seeing her I’m not sure if she would be with us today .Dr. Ryan & the techs were amazing. Everyone & everywhere is short staffed . They are doing the best they can & are providing a much needed service. Thank you for taking care for our sweet cat . We appreciate you!

I feel like an improvement could be made on the bedside manner and overall friendliness. The ladies out front were wonderful but the vet left something to be desired. I am not sure much care was taken to evaluate my cat. There was a lack of organization and communication in regards to when my cat was taken to the back. In the room, the vets approach of "What do you want me to do?" Was distasteful. I am not paying money for you to ask me such things. You are the professional, with the degree, and I expect to receive a service in return that will help my cat. Very disappointed with the vet and his approach. I am use to my vet who actually likes to problem solve and take care of animals. I was fine with the 4 hour wait as I understand the different priority levels. But it was clear the vet was not invested in helping my cat and just wanted to get us out of the room. I am glad it was not a life or death situation because I would not trust my animal to be taken care of here. Would not recommend, better to just drive to Pittsburgh.

I had a wonderful experience with Mahoning Med Vets, yesterday. I thought that my Great Dane was bloating. They took us in immediately. Took beautiful care of her, and we were in and out in an hour. Turns out that she had an upset stomach. The staff was very thorough and kind, and I would highly recommend them in any emergency.

One of thee worst emergency vets to go to! Do not waste your time here. Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital Akron has a much better manner of handling your animals, bed side manner, and quality care. I have seen first hand the care and extra mile Metropolitan Vet goes not only for the sake of the animal but for the owners also! This facility refused go the extra mile for the sake of the animal. A easy wound cleaning was not an option, just a $50 bandage. If you can't financially afford this facility your waiting at their convenience to get discharged. I get and understand the priority of other animals care, but there were hardly anything others there while we waited 2 hours just for them (vet tech) to become rude and with us! Improvement is needed in this facility!

We were able to be taken in within the hour. The doctors gave us all our options on what we can do to help our dogs. I really liked that they sent a girl in to talk to us and her dog had parvo before as well and said he is healthy now so that gave us hope hearing that from her. All the staff was very friendly including the woman at the front desk. They were also all very friendly to our dogs.

The way I that I felt that myself and the other pet owners were treated was unprofessional. There were several mix-ups with who owed what and who received what medication to take home. I was given little time to review my bill and when I left I was given another pet's medication. They clearly have a passion for what they do, I just hope they can improve and help pets and owners make hard choices more efficiently.

As I sit in the car waiting for the paw print of my dear Teddy, I wanted to shoutout the staff for their gentle, kind care tonight before it sets in and I don’t want to think about it. I brought Teddy in with a repeat heart failure exacerbation knowing that he may not leave. He was taken back immediately and examined by the veterinarian quickly. Dr Paglia discussed her thoughts on his prognosis with me and we agreed that ending his suffering would be best. We were given a room so I could say my goodbyes, and all technicians and Dr Paglia were extremely professional and respectful. Thank you to the team for helping my Teddy cross the bridge peacefully.

Staff was friendly and thorough. Our dog Cinder was examined and treated in a timely fashion. MedVet followed up the next couple days inquiring about her status. Their concern wsa greatly appreciated.

My pitty decided once again to shatter the dining room window in the hopes of getting to the squirrel he seen outside. So once again we were rushing him to the vet with glass injuries. This time was not nearly as bad as the first. I called on my way in. The lady I spoke with got all of my information prior to arrival and upon arrival he went right back. The entire trip took about 2 hours but he needed to be put asleep to get his stitches. The girls were all nice. I wish they updated me a little more while we were out in the lobby waiting but they were extremely busy the entire time we were there. The trip was expensive (definitely way more then what his normal vet charged for a much more serious surgery) but it was expected for being an emergency vet. I did see on the bill they discounted almost $200 dollars so I definitely thank them for that. My overall experience was good for the situation we were in.

If you have an emergency and need immediate care, the staff there is very knowledgeable and qualified. The issue with the company is that they take your pet from you and do not allow you to accompany. I have never been to a vet service that required me to be separated from my pet. That is unacceptable.

Had to take my best friend here to have him euthanized. Everyone involved was more than caring and helpful. My vet couldn't do it and from the private room here to the vet who did the procedure, everything was top notch. They even brought in a plate of turkey and other things for his last meal.Thank you for making this process memorable.

Got my puppy on a Friday and he started acting weird Sunday night so we took him to this establishment and they did a parvo test and he tested positive for parvo so he was seen then I had 2 options without any blood work to see how long he has had it or anything of that nature. They said first option was ship him off to a hospital ($1,500 every 24 hours he was there) or that day fee, I don’t have 1500 just laying around so I had to pay a deposit for him to get treatment so I payed $600 deposit and they pump him with fluids and 2 shots and tell me he has a 50/50 chance and he passed away 2 days later. If I would’ve known he wasn’t going to make it I would’ve put him down before he went through all the pain he had but no they didn’t want to do blood work they wanted then money so I got rob….DONT GO HERE please, if you love and care for your fur baby they have other options

We had a scary situation with our dog and it was nice to find an after hours facility closer to home. We were treated with promptness and compassion and everything was explained throughly. We never had a long period of waiting and we left with medication and follow up instructions that were clear. I would definitely recommend them!

The doctor had to come from. columbus which I didn’t understand that, which made it tough as we were there to put down our dog and now we had to wait. Although there was a delay ( life happens to us all ) the staff including the Dr. made us feel cared for and did everything to make us feel comfortable on this tough day. Many thanks to them for that, I don’t know how you do it.

I've read all the bad reviews and I'm sure there was a ton of passion in those. But I'm here to give a 5 star review also with a ton of passion.I ran into MedVet holding my 12 year old Beagle mix princess scared she was having or had had a stroke. Within less than a minute, a triage nurse had Rosie in the back for evaluation. I received a text about 20 minutes later telling me she was stable and all her numbers were within normal range. Did it seem forever to see a doctor, sure it did, but it always does when a loved one is hurting. Dr. Paglia and the staff did an absolute fantastic job diagnosing that Rosie actually had vestibular disease, which is a dogs version of vertigo and not a stroke. We were able to bring Rosie home to rest and recover. Needless to say, Thanksgiving didn't start the way we wanted, but we couldn't be more thankful for the staff at MedVet

Please save your time and just drive to Akron or another ER vet. Not honest about how the pets are kept. I heard my cat be put back into the same vet carrier I came in, when they gave him to me he was covered in his own pee.. When brought back to discuss with the doctor, she did not mention the medication she was sending home nor helpful in providing insight into care.

This was the only place I could bring my dog that was open on the weekend. She was brought in for swollen ears. After a google search I thought she had ear hematoma. Upon first entering we were told there was a 3 hour wait. Someone did come to waiting room to see my dog and stating the same thing I thought. Ear hematoma and surgery would be required. We waiting in our truck since waiting room was full. We got a call about 1.5 hours to bring dog back in. They brought her back and checked her. Upon calling us back in to see the Dr's findings it was diagnosed as a allergic reaction. Dr was very friendly, kind, compassionate and gave a thorough explanation to his findings and why and how he came to them. She was treated with shots and released with detailed instructions for home care and meds to take. The price was reasonable for the service received. I would go back for future emergencies. Dr Brad Whitis is amazing and very much appreciated for taking such good care of our girl. The other staff that was interacted with were great.

I am appalled at the poor quality of care we received at the Girard, OH location. I arrived with my injured dog who was very much in pain. They took him back to “triage” and then I waited for almost 3 hours before I was taken to a room to meet with the vet. When I finally speak to the vet, 20 minutes later, I’m told that they have done nothing yet and wanted permission to sedate my dog and do X-rays. These people left my poor, scared, pain-filled pup alone for all that time. Why couldn’t he have sat and waited with me? They wanted me to wait several more hours and pay $500 for X-rays, $200 for sedation, plus the visit, etc. My pet has medical insurance that covers 90% after the deductible, so the cost was not a factor. I just didn’t trust them to sedate my dog without killing him because they seemed so incompetent and cruel to keep me separated from my dog so long. I asked instead if they could give him something for pain and I would see my vet in the morning. 90 minutes later I still didn’t have my pet. The place is horrible and should be shut down. Will never return. The Akron location, however, is exceptional.

The staff is rude. I called at 4pm asking if I had to make an appointment or if this was walk in. They told me walk in so I got there at 5pm. I saw the QR code and was going to do it but got pulled around to the front inside the waiting room. The lady asked why I was here and upon telling her she said ‘well you didn’t talk to me. So, I guess I’ll add you.’ Otherwise she was nice. However, your intake nurse (name starts with an R) was extremely rude. My dog was sitting at my feet and was shaking a little because he was scared, had an open wound on his side in pain and in a new place. She scolded me telling me that my dog wasn’t confident and I wasn’t doing a good job. That I needed to do better. I explained to her that he was in pain and also he is a harness dog (she put the leading leash around his neck and I’ve never done that so he wasn’t familiar with that.) also, he’s part poodle. They are cautious dogs. I sat there for 2 hours with no info. Then met with the dr, he had surgery and then when I went to checkout, I paid and was told to move over so others could pay at the same time a lady brought my dog out to go over instructions. I couldn’t even ask any questions. That should of been done in a separate area. This was my first time here and I’m disappointed and angry. The doctor was nice. Also, I told the front desk, the dr and again the front desk at checkout that he has 2 vets. One in Austintown/Leetonia. They said they would sent records to both. They never did. Leetonia called me worried the next day asking if everything was okay. I had to call back and request the records to be sent. Neither of the vets were happy with how we were treated but unfortunately they said that this place is the only option. Do better.

Took my dog into this facility on Thanksgiving, upon administering a par Vo test on him as soon as I walked in the door sitting there for two hours they then charge me $379 to start examining my dog after that. Then to tell me that they are estimated $1200 just to look at him, Do not take your animal there and waste any moment of their life or your time. Certain standards should be kept as far as cleaning and dealing with people. Thanks for robbing me of $300 and not helping my dog whatsoever

First off... I’ve never left a review for anywhere before but really feel people should know how bad this place is!Our dog was hit and ran over by a prowler at 10:30 pm, he was bleeding out his mouth, all four legs were bleeding badly and his breathing was so labored. I really didn’t think he’d make it through the night so we rushed him to Girard Animal hospital. They took him back and “examined” him.30-40 mins later we were put in a room to wait for what ended up being some girl with a itemized list of procedures and estimated cost of over $1,600. At this point I asked to speak with the vet. He comes in and says my dog is ok, just “Superficial scrapes” nothing that even needs stitches. Wow, did I over react! I thought he was on deaths door! So we decline the $1,600 in tests and ask how much to bandage him up, over $200! No thanks! I’ll do it myself at home! So we got our dog and paid almost $350 for NOTHING!The next morning we took him to see his regular vet, Thank God I did because he needed stitches in his leg, staples behind his ear, he had 3 broken ribs, a punctured lung and many more injuries. Can you imagine how much pain my poor dog was in?? Yet that quack at the Animal Hospital said he was fine! All they care about is making $$$$!!!Wish I had read the reviews before taking my dog there!

There were not a lot of people needing immediate vet attention when I was in there, but my experience was very positive. The staff was very attentive and handled my issue quickly. This was the first time I ever had to take an animal for emergency care, and I would go back if needed.

The vet, Maggie Ryan was very very kind and sweet. She spoke with us in the nicest way while still letting us know that our cat was sick and the outlook wasn’t good. We had to put our sweet girl to sleep and although it is absolutely terrible and we wish we could hold on to our baby forever, they really made this process less awful. They gave us her little paw prints, a nose print, and a lock of her fur. I wasn’t expecting all of that but it has honestly helped so much. I could tell they cared about my Boo and they understood how hard it is to lose a pet.
