Very cool store. Employees were super helpful. We went to the counter with a bag of treats and they told us not only was the bag on sale but told us if we bought another one we'd get a nice discount! They also have grooming stations that you can bring your dog into and can do yourself. Very cool.

The staff is wonderful. Katie always greets people and remembers me. She knows what she is talking about with the fish, she gives honest advice about your tank set up and never tries to sell you something that won't work for your tank size and the fish you already have. All of the staff have been friendly.It has a large variety of fish and my number 1 selling point for any store that sells fish...it has to be clean and free of dead fish. There are many other big box stores in Anderson and the Eastgate area that are a mess, the fish are an afterthought, not at Pet Valu on Beechmont. We have dogs and there is a great selection of food and accessories.

I went in to use the self service dog wash and I'm so glad I did! Not only was the price really cheap, it was also super convenient! They have it all! There are lots of different Shampoos and deodorizers, even medicated ones, that they provide you to use at no extra cost! The tubs are big and easily accessible, it was very clean and organized and they even have an air dry system you can use to completely dry your dog after towel drying! I was extremely impressed. They even have treat jars filled in the wash area so you can reward your pet as you bathe them. We will definitely be returning and I highly recommend!!

While bathing my very large dog ,the cashier was very helpful getting items for me that were very helpful and useful for his bath. Needless to say when we were done my dog didn't want to leave more out of fear of hights the sales lady and groomer lady helped me get my 175 pound dog out of the tub . They were wonderful Thank you so much.

Love this Pet Valu! Got my little hamster from here back in September, and he’s the best little guy around! The manager here is very polite and friendly, and the staff is overall great. Never have had a problem in terms of staff. I love stopping in just to browse and look around.

I l8ve these folks there. Awesome employees and very knowledgeable. Works well with me and with educational needs for my fish. Holly has been so helpful cannot say enough about her and the other employees as well. I have been into pets for 40 years and by far this is the best pet store I have experienced!!!! I send a lot of folks to this store. I recently got a rescue cat from them and the price was only 25 dollars and came with a lot of coupons and free bag of cat food!!!! How awesome is that!? Best wishes for their store and I will give them all of my business!!!!! Thank you Holly!!!!

Nice store for what it is and what it's been through. I used to work here and loved my job. I still shop here but only because they are the only pet store locally that has my specific cat food but 85% of the time I've got to go to the next closest one (Eastgate) just to make sure my cat is fed. If you're willing to drop dubious amounts of money at an overpriced pet store this is your place.

The washing stations are always clean and ready for you to wash your pet. They provide the shampoo and other conditioners. The towel are convenient to predry a soaking dog and they are replaced promptly by a very attentive staff. Our dog has long hair and the availability of the blow-dryers is definitely helping ...

Unfortunately, I have to edit my review:Even though I still believe this store has a wide selection of pet products, two of my past three interactions checking out at the front kiosk have been sub par, and one of which I found alarming.In two of my past three visits, attention to the customer service desk was less than attentive. The first case happened several weeks ago. I waited a couple of minutes, but was then greeted at the desk and the employee apologized. So, I brushed it off as a one time deal, and assumed this is not the norm. Everyone makes a mistake.However, when I visited yesterday (8/9/18), I waited for five minutes at the kiosk, and no one even looked my way. Another customer waited behind me, and when I let her know of my wait time, she asked an employee for help. Another three minutes goes by, and nothing, even after being made aware that there were customers at the kiosk. So, I went and flagged down a different employee, explained the wait time issue and asked if she could do check out. The response was indifferent, but at least we were able to cash out.The only reason I bring this up is because if I were an owner or manager, I would be alarmed at how few eyes are watching the store front. If I weren't as honest of an individual, I could have easily walked out of the store with merchandise, and the employees wouldn't have been the wiser. I do enjoy this store, but I feel that this is an issue that needs to be addressed.

While this store has decent service, the employees clearly don't know how to care for many of the animals they have. I had a bad experience buying gerbils from this store. First, the employees would pick up the gerbils by their tails (which is incredibly dangerous for them) and their housing was completely inadequate. But the real problem came when we purchased gerbils, and the pet store claimed to have sold us two males when they had really sold us a male and a female. We realized the mistake before they breed, so it turned out okay.This is a decent pet store as far as pet stores go, but I wouldn't recommend it.

There are many pet stores around the city. However, this location, and pet value in general, is a better experience than others. While much of it's competition provides the 'walmart' of pet stores experience, pet value is more of a boutique; offering actual usable advice from it's well trained employees. They have anything that the other stores have. The difference being that they also offer more upscale items such as pet food that is higher quality as well as safer for pets. The store itself offers a wonderful atmosphere that creates an environment of a one of a kind pet store experience. This particular location is very enviting and makes you want to keep coming for all the wonderful things they have for all you pet needs. The dog wash station is particularly nice!!

Manager was rude. 1st time I went in with coupon she said they could take it. Went back with same coupon and she berated me in front of other customers. Said we don't take those any more. I told her she had already said they would take it. She said "well, now we don't". Very nasty person. I was totally embarrassed. I'll never go back.

Stopped by here to pick up a few guppies for a new tank and could not have been more disappointed. The tanks were FILLED with dead fish. All of them. I have been visiting Jack's Aquariums and various pet stores for decades and have never seen anything so disgusting.I ended up just going to Petsmart...but I couldn't help but remember the long lost days when Jack's was filled with awesome fish tanks. :(

Well at first I went to this store and bought a few fish, at that point they were very informative and helped me learn that my tank was not ready for certain fish (that pet smart failed to inform me about). I continued to give them my service until recently when I purchased two bunnies from them. I am VERY sad to say the bunnies have passed away, seeing we became very connected with them even in the short time we were able to spend with them. We followed the instructions they gave us for caring for the bunnies and looked up information on caring for and feeding them. They also had a full room in our house to run around in and play in that was completely empty. Sadly one day we walked in and out of no where they passed away. After calling them they rudely informed us that the 15 day return period had passed and they could no longer do anything and said their passing must have been our fault. Seeing we followed what they told us on the bunnies care and also looked up how to care for them I don’t see how they could completely blame us. After doing more research on adopting bunnies from pet stores I soon found out many people recccomend to adopt from a shelter because of the irresponsibility of pet stores in ensuring the breeders care for the animals and ensure they are not sick. I will no longer be giving this store my business and look forward to adopting a bunny from a responsible shelter.

The staff is pretty knowledgeable, but some have been kind of abrasive about price matching. I like that they carry my brand of dog food, because it can be tricky to find. Overall it's been a good experience here.

Love pet valu! Lots of animals to look at including rats and birds and kittens for adoption. They have all the toys food and treats money can buy. Healthy and high quality things that are worth it. The only thing is that when it comes to things like rodents, the staff isn't super knowledgeable. I dont blame them though. Definitely do your research so that you dont harm your animals.

Wow! What great service. They remembered my son and what fish him and his mother had bought. Even remembered that he had a rewards account. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Definitely would recommend them.

Washed both dogs myself. Store provides the shampoo towels water and blow dryer. Not busy. In and out without a line. Three sinks. If your dog isn't friendly go during the day.

Jack's is expensive. I'm not going to sugar coat it, some of their stuff is overpriced too. I can get a lot of the stuff from here elsewhere for cheaper. So let me begin by letting you know what you shouldn't go here for. Supplies, go elsewhere and get more reasonable prices. What you SHOULD go here for is your live animals. Their fish, reptiles, anything else you might want. Even though their supplies are overpriced, I still find myself taking my business nowhere else. I may travel out to find cheaper supplies but I would NEVER shop anywhere else for buying new fish for my aquarium or hermit crabs for my crabitat. I find solace in simply knowing right away that they care for their stock of animals and I won't introduce ick or some other crappy contaminate or something to my creatures like I might from Walmart. Jack's, despite its prices, has a loyal customer in me and that won't be changing any time soon. I don't take my business elsewhere and I would recommend this place to you regardless of all negatives that might have been mentioned.

I love the fact you can bring your pet in and give them a luxury bath for inlt $10 they provude great shampoo and have alot of treats and basic nessicties for all the babies the staff there are very welcoming and friendly. I intend to be a weekly regaular costumer from now on

What a headache. The self serve wash station was a mess. Hair everywhere. When the staff was addressed, they had NO CLUE what their job compossed of. Maybe the customers could do a better job of handling the issues.
