My husband said let’s try a new restaurant today and I thank God we went to King and Queen. This Caribbean restaurant is phenomenal from the moment you walk through the door, first you have to take in the decor and I felt like I was on an island vacation about to be pampered! Our service was beyond amazing and the Pineapple Punch and food on a scale of 1-10 I give them a 20 because they really went above and beyond to ensure our experience was second to none! The best Caribbean restaurant in NC and a hidden gem. I can’t wait to go and experience their hospitality and kindness again! That Red Snapper, beef patties, chicken patties and shrimp and chicken pineapple bowls are delicious! Go check this amazing place out for yourself! Thank me later!!!!

Everything about this place was great from the people who run it, service & the food. The food was delicious & worth every dollar. The service was fast, friendly, I actually felt like I was at home. I had the Ox tails with rice & cabbage. Hell it was so good I took a plate of stuffed chicken/w crab meat vegetables & potatoes back to my hotel for later that evening. 🤣

I visited this establishment on 30 NOV 2023 with my best friend. We meet monthly halfway between Smithfield and Charlotte to catch up. This month we chose this place. I was excited to support a black-owned business, especially a Jamaican one. The reviews were good, and the pictures looked promising. We arrived around 1:30 on a Thursday, and there weren’t any other customers inside, which is fine. It’s the middle of the day, and most people are working. One other table came while we were there. The waitress greeted us and brought us drinks and a menu. When we asked for suggestions, she really could not suggest anything in particular. She did mention the salmon was good.My best friend got the stuffed salmon, and I got the oxtail plate. I don’t typically eat rice, so I wanted to substitute it for roasted potatoes and was told no substitutions. My plate arrived, and the oxtails were tender, but the flavor was just ok. It was not spicy, flavorful, or sweet like I’m used to, and the portion was small for $21 to me. I ate the oxtails but not the rice. The plantains were not sweet. The rice tasted like it was cooked in rancid or expired oil. The cabbage was ok. My best friend didn’t finish her salmon either. When asking for the check, I believe the owner or cook brought me a to-go box and asked if I didn’t like the rice. I explained the no sub comment from the waitress, and he informed me you could double up on something already included so that I could’ve gotten double cabbage instead of the rice, but that wasn’t an option from the waitress, so I didn’t know. But in my mind, that’s still a substitution, but whatever. After exiting, my friend and I decided we wouldn’t come back. We traveled 90+ minutes, and it wasn’t worth the drive, but I wish them much success in their business.Dietary restrictions: They don’t allow substitutionsParking: Parking is in a plaza type strip mall

I came on a business trip to NC from ATL and decided to give this spot a try. Trust after experiencing what I went through, I will NOT be supporting this establishment again. I guess the experience I had as a TRUE Haitian foodie threw this restaurant for a loop. You may be able to fool the residents of NC but I'm sorry you can't fool a patron from Miami and Haitian Restaurant owner with this poor excuse of Haitian Food. So we ordered poule fri with a side of diri cole and macaroni. This is what I took from my experience:PROS:Initial customer service was welcoming.Ambiance - clean and organized.CONS:1. The chicken had a red coating on it. It looked and tasted as if it was fried, sat in sauce, then fried again. Had zero seasoning/ flavor left.2. The "pikliz" is a salad with shredded carrots and dressing on top. Not actually pikliz. (I understand pikliz may have different variations in how it's done but it's not a salad. It should be pickled. Just don't call it Pikliz, say the meal comes with salad.)3. Had to pay for rice separately! This is a staple item for majority of our dishes. This should just come with the meal.4. The rice was mushy and lacked taste. I can't even explain how you could mess up rice as a Haitian restaurant!5. Macaroni looked like it was reheated. Despite other items tried and how it looked, I gave the benefit of the doubt for the Mac only to bite into cold spots.6. The sauce was not even sauce! They put straight oil in the sauce cup.7. No banan peze! I get it, sometimes you run out but let the customer know ahead of time so they know what expect. Not leading them on thinking the plate will come with it.Given all of this, now I would say she did show my husband the food prior to leaving. And if you're married.....you have probably experienced you're husband not checking things properly. So I didn't see/taste everything until we were 30+min headed back home to ATL.I was going to accept the defeat and not even say anything. I thought maybe we just got a bad plate but then thought what a disservice that would be to my own people. If you know better you do better. Plus I paid $30 to not even be satisfied, that's crazy. So called back to provide constructive criticism and request a refund. Rather hearing the customer out based on THEIR experience, I guess they felt a way about me saying the food was not up to par and went back and forth with me about what I tasted. This man even went as far as to say I'm not even Haitian (which i am) that's why the food taste like that. I don't know what it's supposed to taste like. LMAO. That doesn't even help your case sir! How do you mess up chicken and macaroni that bad that say someone who isn't haitian wouldn't enjoy it?! To add, I ended up vomiting shortly after eating the little I tried. TAKEAWAY: If you're visiting the area don't even risk it, if you stay here and need a Haitian Food fix.....cook it yourself. I can't believe yall let these people believe their food good. SMH.

Yesterday, I celebrated my husband's birthday with a special dinner at a restaurant. Our server, DJ, was very attentive and made sure we had a great dining experience. My family tries to dine in once a week and last night was a special treat. I ordered the Oxtails and blackened salmon bowl, which were both amazing, and the chicken patties were out of this world. DJ also created a custom drink for us called pink lady and it was the perfect addition to our meal.

Nice atmosphere. Family friendly place. We arrived at 9:00pm and we were advised to next time come earlier , because they only do to go orders the last hour. Ok , cool. Then we were immediately pressured to order immediately. There is an entire hour until closing time. StillCool. I ordered the jerk chicken … it was prettybland and dry. For it to be 20 dollars the food was not worth the price , in my opinion. My boyfriend ordered salmon with a side of macaroni and cheese, I ordered jerk chicken with a side of cabbage as well as one sweet tea and the price came out to be $63. Each additional side was $5-7 which is also okay, but the for the quality of the food it was not acceptable. As I was eating there a knat was found in my rice and I asked quickly to have my food replaced which they were nice about. I finished my night off with buffalo wings from a Haitian cuisine which the wings were great just not what I initially had the taste for. All in all the staff were pretty friendly , in the end. I just wouldn’t personally be back from the prices and taste alone. I do wish this family well and hope they improve as they move forward. :)

Place is empty, and I can see why. Called to mention a gratuity fee that I personally didn’t notice (20% on all dine in orders is crazy) and said it wasn’t a big deal but it is kind of a big deal that their online website doesn’t mention or include that information, considering that’s illegal when they also apply 10% gratuity to all take out orders too. So people that are calling over the phone and ordering online have no idea that they’re being charged gratuity. The owner decides to make this the servers problems when I called and then that server that he gave the phone to screamed at me that the website definitely has that and I’m “threatening them because I can’t read” (my partner paid for our order, not me). By the way, it’s really not on the website. She was yelling at me that she was looking at the website whilst I’m also looking at it and you can’t even get to the section where you can order so I can’t even see if it’s on there. You say “gratuity is included” but restaurants have to specify how much that is before charging, and online you don’t.I can’t complain about how a business chooses to make their gratuity if they list it properly. 20% in a dine in restaurant for simply dining in is ridiculous and that’s why you don’t get business. But 10% not being made abundantly clear on take out orders, that’s a new level of capitalistic crookery. But hey, I’ll leave you to yell at someone you do this to and let them file the paperwork to get this place shut down.I loved the food but when you act like this when someone is simply trying to let you know that you need to be more careful, especially when the owner is talking about not being able to have a license if he doesn’t have a bathroom in his business but then has things actually going on that will lose him his license like listing in the menu that the reason he does these automatic gratuities is because of wage needs. So you’re admitting that you both don’t pay your one employee well enough AND that you expect customers to make up the difference with or without knowledge of doing so.I was being nice when I was yelled at and hung up on. I assume this is because your business has faced this comment from people who weren’t as nice as I am. It’s really awful that the one place I can find to embrace Haitian culture accurately has such horrible people working behind it. But I guess four people being in the restaurant should be a sign that I should just walk out next time. The food might’ve even been worth the money, but you yourselves are rather distasteful people. I’ve never felt so slighted by people from my own culture before just because they want to get angry instead of maybe taking the advice that they should at least have that sort of gratuity posted on websites. It’s our fault we didn’t notice it on the menu, and I will admit that. We just would’ve have even gone here and have concern for our fellow customers that might order from this place and can’t see that.We will not be back, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the next person that experiences this reports your business. I’m just not in the mood to derail my own people that heavily, but there are consequences for the way you talk to people. Please don’t talk to the Consumer Protection Division the way you talk to us.

I drove about 50 minutes from Winston-Salem to try this place because I saw great reviews on TikTok. When I went in I was greeted by a very sweet young lady who gave me a menu. A gentleman approached me when I was ready to order (I think he’s the owner). He was such a sweetheart! He was so kind and has great customer service. He was also nice to my autistic son which also warms my heart. We even chatted a bit. He told me that he use to have a food truck and was thinking about starting it up again. I told him I would be on the lookout and that I hope he was able to. This was BEFORE I tried the food. He brought the food out to me at the bar and opened the containers to show it to me before bagging it up. I really like that he did that. I ordered the shrimp and pasta pineapple bowl (the presentation was beautiful), and the Oxtail. The food was DELICIOUS! The Oxtail were so tender and fell off the bone. The cabbage and mac and cheese were also great. My husband loved his pineapple bowl as well! It was definitely worth the drive and I will be returning with my family to dine in. He NEEDS get that food truck back on the road. Hands down the best Caribbean food I’ve ever had.

This family owned and operated restaurant is top notch and authentic! The owners are extremely hospitable and accommodated my family's large group on a short notice. They were so caring during our meal, it felt like being at someone's home. We started with a round of the Haitian Chicken Patties. Amazing, simply amazing. Those chicken patties with their veggies and their own bbq sauce fried into little pockets of heaven with a dipping sauce that compliments perfectly. I ordered the whole red snapper with the fried plantains and a spicy slaw. Our table also ordered the oxtails with rice & peas, plantains and cabbage. I wanted to keep eating because it was all so good but I was beyond full. All of their food is amazing, you get top notch service here, I will continue to come back and try new things. And not that they are an afterthought, but their drinks are really good as well! Not pictured but the Port Au Prince drink is really good, finished my drink before I came to my senses to start taking pictures!

Place was really nice, great customer service. Had the Jerk Turkey and Jerk chicken, the only thing was the jerk chicken flavor could have been better and it was a lil too much oil in the bowl but other than that the food was great! The jerk turkey was smack! The chicken egg rolls were good too. Loved the avocado sauce it came with. Will be back.

The food was ok. I ordered jerk chicken. Not spicy at first but it builds the more you eat; at least that was my experience and I'm pretty sensitive to spice. The rice was bland and I would've preferred more than just two plantains on my plate. The service was VERY slow, despite only one other large party dining in. I understand everyone is under-staffed but waiting an hour for food is disappointing.

We’re visiting family for the holidays and we were taken here. I got the Pineapple Hamburger and my wife got the Pineapple Bowl. My wife absolutely loved the pineapple bowl and the pineapple hamburger was the best hamburger I have ever had. The owner and staff are so humble and friendly and the atmosphere is very comfortable and inviting. I can’t recommend this establishment enough. Fantastic!!!!

When walking in I was greeted by the wonderful owners and staff. The food I ordered was amazing! it was so delicious! Haitian Mac and cheese with beans and rice and pikliz on the side my most favorite food items. Because I was tired and in a rush I wasn’t able to dine in but I will. I can’t wait to go back and sit to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere.Thank you for the wonderful food!

I've been here a few times and I wanted to respond to the lady from ATL. Some of the stuff she said I could agree with but some of the stuff she said was off. In North Carolina, there's not many Haitian places especially in the Greensboro-High Point-Winston-Salem area. King Queen Caribbean Bar and Grill is representing Haiti very well for them to be the only one in this area!1. Regarding the pikliz, the pikliz there is real pikliz and it's great! The chef does like to put the dressing on top. I believe you can request for it to be taken off and I wish you would've been able to try it without it. I hope they can start putting it on the side automatically for patrons who don't care for the sauce.2. As someone who has been here a few times, I too don't understand why the rice is something you have to pay for separately because like you said "This is a staple item for majority of our dishes. This should just come with the meal." I agree with that. I don't know I would order Poulet frit and have no rice that comes with the meal without having to pay extra.3. In response to this, "the sauce was not even sauce! They put straight oil in the sauce cup". I wish it was a sauce as well, it's truly just oil and seasonings mixed together. Hopefully the chef reads this and considers making some form of a sauce or even a broth where it's not just oil in a cup.4. I wish there was bene peze as well. I love regular plantains but I know that the banan peze and the pikliz would go so well together.5. In regards to customer service, the man is usually always friendly and nice and has great customer service. The lady who usually works there as well is sometimes a bit unfriendly and unwelcoming. It's almost as if she doesn't work in a setting where having good customer service is important.I love coming here and the food is great so I didn't want the lady's review to tarnish anyone's possibility of coming here but I also wanted to be real and respond to some of the stuff that was said.

Updating my original review. King Queen is the type of place you fall in love with the food and the service. Its almost that hidden gem you want to keep a secret but deserves to be shared. I woud definitely recommend giving them a try.I'd been wanting to give King Queen Caribbean a try for quite some time. I must say it was worth the wait. I was pleasantly surprised by the interior appearance and ambiance. The hostess / waitress was very welcoming and friendly. Our meals were delicious though my rice and peas could have been warmer. But thats my personal preference. I like my food the same temp as the suns surface when it hits the table. All things considered, I was more that satisfied with the taste, quality, and serving size of my dish. I'll definitely go back again.
