The Cottage is great, but it comes with a couple of caveats that you need to be aware of ahead of time.First, they really care about the animals, and you will get top-notch care for your pets at the best prices in the local area.BUT they do not take appointments for basic services (they do for surgery and other procedures), so be aware you may spend more time than you want to, waiting for your turn.Second, you should also be prepared to be judged, and they will hard sell you on things you may not want. For instance, I own two indoor/outdoor felines, and every time I visit, it is clear that they do not approve. I always get the feline leukemia and FEV tests (and luckily, they are always negative) but much is made of getting the tests and then they forget to share the good results with me when my boys are clear.As long as things like this won't bother you, then this is your place. They can work miracles, and all in all, after coming here for more than a decade, I can honestly say they deserve all 5-stars.

Brought my small old overweight dog to the clinic to establish Care and because she was favoring her back leg. Wasn't pressured at all. Everything was approved beforehand and discussed at length. I was shown respect and courtesy. My dog was treated with kindness. We live in Wilson but will make the drive without hesitation.

I took my senior cat in today and they were short staffed but it was a pleasant visit and Nicole (im assuming a tech) was very knowledgeable and very compassionate. I’m not sure what the doctors name is but she was very detail in explaining my poor babies sickness. I will be going there again.

Dr. Riggione and Nicole are great! Our Yorkie Poo has been coming here since he was 1yr old and he is now, 11! We have always received excellent care and the doctors are all very knowledgeable and caring! However, Nicole (vet tech) is amazing! Nicole is very warming, smart, knowledgeable, personable, and hands own! She is definitely deserving of high praise and a raise, lol! Def ask for Nicole and Dr. Riggione for your pets needs! They explain what's best for your pet in great detail and will make sure you really understand before you leave the office!!

Great Prices - Be prepared to wait as they do not schedule appointments.Update: I've been going here for about a decade and over the years I've had a variety of experiences. To be honest there were times that I swore I'd never go back. (I mention this because of negative reviews) But now I am glad I didn't switch to another vet.It seems that the vets on staff changes with relative frequency. I believe this is part of an internship program (just a guess,) and this accounts for the variation in service satisfaction. Service is usually friendly but patience is required. If you are the type of person that is always in a hurry, this may not be the place for you.My experiences in the last year have been incredible. Two major traumas, one euthanasia and regular check-ups.I have a cat, Elvis, who suffered massive trauma about seven months ago. It's a long story but I know that the care he received at the Animal Cottage saved his life. This is not an exaggeration.He seems to find trouble because we just had another visit where he impaled himself on something and ended up with a 3-inch incision with staples. The bill was $400... anywhere else it would have been double that.They will always give you the most realistic treatment options without trying to increase the bill and you will know what the cost will be before they begin treatment.Most importantly they really care about the animals. Their compassion has helped with the care of several elderly pets in the last couple years.Another note, they are now allowing people to wait in the lobby, but you can still wait in your car if you prefer. I appreciate this because Elvis doesn't appreciate the canine clients.

Went to get Kasper fixed. Didn’t happen.Take him back in 2 weeks.Really nice, did what they could/couldn’t do. Right thing to do. Called me explained what was going on. Really nice people.By the way Kasper had a virus, upset stomach and worms. After giving him his meds he will be going back.

Thanks Dr. Riggione for saving my little girl Dixie. I'll never been able to thank her enough for all she did and never gave up on her. I'm a 1st time fur baby mom and they made me feel so comfortable & guided me all the way through getting my little one back to health. ALL of the staff (especially Brooklyn) are very caring. One of the vet techs called to check on my baby the next day. They all are so helpful & very informative. I would recommend this vet to ANYONE who wanted great care for their 🐕!!!

They have gone above and beyond what they should have. I just told them we had lost our ,feline, Luna and they sent me a card with all the signatures of the vet. Tech’s and even the very vet. That did her surgery signed it . I will never forget that. Thank you so much.

This clinic looks for money and money only.I had my girl friend bring my dog in for a rash and they told me he wasn’t up to date on his shots. She let them know I was aware and would be taking him to his actual vet for the shots (the price is better at actual vet). They took my dog back multiple times to be seen until finally the doc shows up. After the doc tells my girlfriend what she believes is wrong with him and how we should proceed she informs my girl friend that i have a $300+ bill. My gf asks why she (the doc) informs me he got his vaccines and test done as well hence the reason for the price. My gf told her I didn’t want any of that I only wanted the treatment for the rash. She told my gf “No, you said yes”. After some back and forth of “yes you did no I didn’t”. They proceeded to have a minimum of 4 other people tell me “you said yes”. None of which were present in the room during the conversation for my dogs care. So I call the clinic to ask them why they give vaccines to dogs without consent of the owner and I was passed from person to person to be told no she said she wanted the shots. When I asked if your calling my gf a liar no response was given. I then informed them that I know your lying to me to protect your people. The person on the phone simply told me she said yes. Meanwhile they tell my gf she can’t take the dog outside to call me while I’m at work demanding that she leave the dog untill they receive payment. So now I’m forced to pay just to get my dog back. In closing I hope they close down or that they find better people for the job.

Absolutely horrible experience..I was looking to have my 16 year old,8.5 pound Dog out to sleep because he was in so much pain and had lost all his bodily functions. I was devastated to say the least...So they told me to come right over no problem..When I get there they proceed to tell me that it was going to cost me about $265 bucks!!! I was in complete shock! So I told them sorry but I can't pay that, she then said well they could take $20 bucks off if I could provide proof that me Dog was up to date with his rabies shot..SMH!So again I told them that I couldn't afford that and I thought that was the craziest thing I had ever heard. I then told them that I would have to decline and find another vet to go to ...She had the nerve to say " Mam please make sure before you leave that you can't afford it because that was the going rate everywhere and I won't not find it cheaper anywhere... Just a FYI I ended up going to a vet in Kinston that charged me $57.50!!!!!! PSA BEWARE "They(The Cottage) are clearly trying to CASH IN on people's misfortunes!!!!! I have never in my life be so upset, angry and disappointed in a place 😡

I had an emergency where a rescued went into labor and a puppy was stuck. I called my regular vet of 5 years and was told that they wouldn't touch her w/o an approved "Care Credit" application or payment. They didn't even ask me about her condition or care about how she was.I called Dr. Manning's office and within 10 minutes he returned my call and told me that if I brought her in he would help with the stuck puppy and evaluate her to see if we needed to do a c-section.His first concern was for the animal, not the all mighty buck!! From this day forward I will be using Dr. Manning for all my animals vet needs.

WORST VET EVER! If I could give negative stars, I would. Charged my father roughly $2000 and gave him several different diagnoses for his beloved Papillon, all were the wrong diagnosis. They assured him that there was nothing showing on all the tests except infection in the intestines. Took him to my vet for a second opinion and received the correct diagnosis in one visit for a cost of Only $200. He had a huge mass in his chest. . Sadly, my dad had to make the difficult decision to have him euthanized . The 2nd vet didn’t even charge him for the euthanasia becausethey felt so bad that my dad had been soaked by this greedy clinic. I fully believe this clinic took advantage of my father even though they either had absolutely no idea what they were doing or they knew and just wanted my dad’s money.

I was hesitant at first because of one of the reviews stating about the vet only being concerned about the money. This is the closest vet clinic to me so I decided to try for myself, besides, there are more great reviews here than bad. They have not disappointed me and my Diamond! Dr. Gaona has helped Diamond feel so much better. The staff has been absolutely amazing! Everyone is super nice! This is our new vet clinic. As for the prices, every vet is expensive soooooo.....idk how you can get around that. The choice is always yours to pay it or not.

The sweetest little stray kitty adopted us. He came to us very sick and just stayed. I had an appointment somewhere else and was late bc I couldn't find him this morning. They wanted me to reschedule-which I understand-it was my fault & they have a schedule. I called Cottage Animal Clinic. (I have a friend that goes there) I'm so thankful they take walk-ins! It does take a lot longer, bc it is first come-first serve. But, sometimes you just can't schedule & plan everything in life. And this little guy was sick a needd help. Everyone there-staff and vet were exceptionally nice and helpful and were glad to help. I will be returning and will be glad to wait. Just also wanted to note I did have to wait a little extra longer bc they had an emergency. I like it that they give emergency situations priority. It's reassuring to know that if my kitty is ever having an emergency situation he will be a priority. 😻 Also, I really appreciate that they let you know how much things will cost before they do anything.

Wonderful and professional veterinary clinic. Our family have four fury loved ones who's health we just do not trust with anyone. After researching area vet hospitals we heard from several people about The Cottage in which we kept hearing how wonderful and reasonable service they provided. After taking our four legged family members there for care we could not be more elated with the care and highly recommend them for your vet care needs!

My family and I had to make the difficult decision to put down our beloved 12 year old Ellie. Even though we had never been here before, they were able to accommodate us right away. Very compassionate and caring ladies working there and we couldn’t be more grateful. We left feeling at peace and that’s worth more than anything in this world. In my opinion I truly love this clinic. There staff are kind and very easy to communicate with. I personally would recommend this clinic. Yes, patience will be needed but there trying to keep you, and themselves safe as the virus is still going around. Yet, they still are able to manage with even two people. Our pets are being taken care of by professionals and thats whats important at the end of the day. I would like to lastly thank the clinic for all its done, my pet enjoys the vet visits to your clinic.

I’ve been coming to Cottage on and off for most of the 13 years they have been open and I won’t take my babies anywhere else!! My senior girl loved Dr Manning, so when he opened this practice of course we went where he went! After Dr Manning retired, I tried other local places worried it wouldn’t be the same. I do miss hearing his unmistakable voice in the back talking to his various patients!! But since returning to Cottage years ago, nothing has changed about the affordable quality care my pets have gotten. There are some wonderful veterinarians there and the staff is fantastic! I won’t recommend or go anywhere else!

I have used the cottage for my dogs and I even continued to use them after they misdiagnosed my dog, and I had to put him down. I recently got a puppy, a puppy that has ALL vet records a puppy that I just wanted to get flea/tick and heart worm preventative (he's already on it and was due today) I was told even with all of his records that I couldn't get the preventive without being seen and I couldn't be seen, at a walk in clinic. I went to Lake Wilson and was able to get his flea/tick and heart worm preventive WITHOUT a vet visit. Seems like the cottage is becoming money hungry, even though I've spent A LOT OF MONEY THERE. I love the actual VET at the cottage but the receptionist is running people away. lets not forget to mention if theres ever an emergency they'll make you pay before touching your animal, thank you for turning me away today I found a compassionate place to take my new puppy!

I am very dissatisfied with the treatment I received here recently. I brung one kitten that was dropped off in our driveway received a voucher to get him fixed yet the clinic would not except the voucher causing me to schedule an appointment in another county after I had dropped him of drove 20miles home only to find out that they don’t honor vouchers but left my catLethargic. This is an outrage for my elderly parents to deal with because they were on day short of a $17 dollar vaccine which they promised to pay when smokey was picked up!! We mis Dr. Manning that took care of our pets. The new so called doc wall isn’t there for our babies but only cares for all the money he can take from us treating our fur babies!!!
