The wife and child bought a couple of fish from here and were happy. The fish were dead within a couple hours. I returned to the store not looking for a refund but for help understanding what we could do better. The associate older male just flat out told us that it wasn't his fault! I want to be clear at no point were we blaming him. He kept insisting it was not his fault. We were merely looking for advice for some neon fish! Very Rude for a small business!

This is the kind of fish store avid hobbyists search for! Rows and rows of mature aquariums with plants and healthy algae housing a great variety of fish in excellent health. These are the types of fish that will acclimate well to any well kept aquarium. Can’t wait to return again, even with the 45 minute drive from Winston Salem.

The owner is super helpful will answer all the questions you have without judgment and has a great variety of freshwater fish and shrimp all at great prices and all are very healthy in well setup tanks the owner Peter is a great guy like i said isn't scared to talk to you and answer questions hard to find small business like it this is my new favorite place to shop for my aquariums no doubt looking forward to my next visit

The owner is top notch! Very knowledgeable about all of his fish. A nice variety of fish. I didn't know that I could put a puffer in my cichlid tank and I'm thrilled to add a new addition! He works very hard to keep the shop running by himself and I'm happy to have a local fish expert who cares about his customers!

I have been trying to call and visit this store but I can never get an answer by phone. Even when I physically went to the store on several occasions, during posted business hours, they were closed with a note on the door.

Great store with a good selection of healthy fish! As for some of the other reviews, I think the prices are reasonable. This hobby has gotten more expensive like anything else… As for the owner being “rude” he seemed fine to me. I could see where you might get that impression, but I don’t think he means anything by it. As for his advice, if you don’t like it nobody is forcing you to follow it, just nod and agree. He was technically right about the rainbows, they should be in a male female pair at minimum. If not more females than males.

I stocked a 125 gallon aquarium with community fish all purchased from this store. Absolutely no regrets. The fish were optimally healthy in the store as they are now. Very happy to influence fellow fish keepers to visit this location.

Prices are a bit high, but they usually have a good selection of fish. I have kept fish as a hobby for over 25 years, but I'm always told that I am doing it wrong. I don't go here for advice, just the good selection of fish he has. My last 2 trips were actually uncomfortable. I love small family owned business, and given the chance,will always support them. But I don't think I will be back. He asks how I set up and maintain, then tells me I'm wrong, and should do it his way. I miss Barbara, and I'm very sorry for the loss of a sweet,smart woman, she was definitely the personality of Sunshine Pets.im not insulting the store at all. The fish are healthy,and very well kept, I just wish he had more respect for his customers.

My fiancé and I love this place! We buy all of our fish and products from here. Peter and Barbara take very good care of their animals and will not sell you any sick fish, they’re all treated. They have a great selection of fish and other animals. If there is a fish you want and they don’t have it then they will order it for you. We will never buy our fish anywhere else. Best customer service and you can tell they truly care.

This is the new Local Fish Store for me. Best fish around. Huge selection of freshwater fish. Best cichlids I have seen from a pet store. They are well taken care of and most of the males were showing color under 3 inches. Super happy with this store!

The owner Pete is a nice guy and easy to deal with. They have a good selection of healthy looking fresh and salt water fish. The tanks are clean and I have not seen any dead fish in the tanks or stuck in the filters. They have mice that I am assuming are for feeding other animals. They also carry black worms. Once and a while they will have ferrets, birds, and I think a hedgehog. The store is not open on Monday and opens at 1 pm the rest of the week.

I went to Sunshine Pets for the first time on 4/07/21 and was amazed at the fish selection. The owner was as kind and helpful as I have ever seen! He was so knowledgeable about all the different fish! The place was clean and well maintained. I can’t wait to go back today for my saltwater tanks!!

Went to this store yesterday. The guy was very rude with my buddy and I. I wanted a boesemani rainbow fish from him. He would not sell me the fish because he always gets stuck with the females. So he says if you want the male you have to buy the female with it. Which I thought was not right then he always says I do this for a hubby I don’t have to sell these fish this is my fish room I have other income. He always smelled like he was in a bar all not couldn’t even complete a sentence without slurring his words. I will not be back to that store. Very disappointing because he has so very nice fish.

Excellent pet store. Lots of variety of fish way more than anything in the Asheboro area. Looks like everything receives excellent care and they are knowledgeable about what they have and can help you make decisions about building your tank. Lots of supplies and plants etc also.

I love love love this pet store. The owners are exceptionally nice and helpful. They always have the supplies I need. Possibly the most important part...They keep the store immaculate. Fish tanks are completely clear and clean. All cages are clean and have the proper bedding in them for the animal and the cages are not overcrowded. Kinda sounds like I'm picky but after going into the Pet Barn in South High Point and seeing how the animals are treated there...It makes me appreciate these things a whole lot more! Thank you Sunshine Pets for taking such good care of the animals you sell.

I love this pet store! I buy all my cichlid fish from here and they are all very healthy. I haven't had one get sick yet. They have a lot of different fish especially for saltwater. You need to just go by to see their saltwater tank. It's beautiful!

Waited over 45 minutes for service to buy some fish. My 16 month old is screaming by this point, we asked the guy working there if he could assist us next and he stated he would be with us in a minute. After helping the customers he was with he yelled out who’s next and two guys jumped in front of us. While he was working with them, my child is still screaming, my husband asks if we can please have assistance next and informed him that we had previously asked for help when he called for the next people. He stated that he didn’t have time to figure out who was next and that was our issue to figure out amongst ourselves. If you have a place of business that requires you to assist customers individually you should have a much better system in place to ensure you get to everyone as they came in. I do realize the man was pretty busy with customers however don’t put the blame on them for not knowing how to go about getting assistance. Due to his nonchalant, uncaring attitude we won’t be back.

Very experienced and knowledgeable in their animals. I recently got me a bearded dragon they were very helpful with finding my kids a pet and were very friendly. They helped get me everything I needed for the new family edition. I will continue to go back, I love this shop.

You'll find mostly aquatic "pets" here. Prices on animals and merchandise are somewhat reasonable.There's just not a lot of variety here. If you're going to sell pets, you should have necessary items in stock for those pets (food, housing, bedding, etc). We went in to buy some birds once and left without purchasing because they did not have a proper birdcage for them.The store feels oddly set up and hard to navigate, even though it's very small. Some redecorating/rearranging could attract more clientale. It looks like a pet pawn shop.Staff is really friendly and helpful. I wish I could give a higher rating, but I feel an honest review is more beneficial to all.

This place is awesome, the owner is very nice and trys helping with any questions you have, had knowledge of everything thing he sells in that store especially the fish.. He's usually in there alot by his self, so if he's alone and busy, I just wait and walk around looking... I usually go in for reptile stuff and food...

I can get what I need for my pets dogs, cats, birds, fish, and more! Plus look at all the pet's and other stuff they sale. The aquarium fish is the best assortment I've ever seen for sale anywhere, both salt and fresh water fish and supplies! Awesome place to shop or just to look around!

My daughter told anyone that would listen (including myself) that she wanted a puppy more than anything for Christmas this year. I searched various forums (animal shelters and Craig’s List, etc) in search of the perfect puppy for her. I fell in love on 12/1/17 when I ran across a white and black chihuahua puppy as it shares the same birthday as my mother. I subsequently placed a call to Sunshine Pets only to find out that they were closed for the evening. I in turn left a voice mail expressing my desired interest in the little fellow. I in turn received a phone call from a lady named Barbara at 8:19 AM on 12/2/17. This is important of note, because Sunshine Pets doesn’t open until 10:00 AM yet the owner (Barbara) took the time to return my call prior to opening the shop for the day. Barbara had all of the puppies vital information and took the time to patiently answer each one of my questions. I confided in her that I was absolutely in love with the puppies and herself considering her caring and patient attitude along with what I saw online. I then shared with her that my daughter would absolutely love one of the two puppies for her Christmas present given their overall cuteness and shared birthday with my mom. I then asked Barbara if she could please hold one of the puppies for me and that I’d be in at 4:00 PM to pick him up. Barbara then said, “I can do you one better. I can send you a few pics of them both and your daughter can choose which one she likes the best. I’ll be certain to hold that one for her.” I switched up my plans as a result of Barbara’s excellent care and service so as to pick up the puppy (Oreo) sooner rather than later (1:00 PM as opposed to 4:00 PM). I couldn’t help myself from giving Barbara a hug when we entered the store as she truly brought a smile to my daughters face in helping make her and my Christmas extra special. Please stop by Sunshine Pets for whatever your pet needs. Please be sure to give Barbara a hug in doing so and let her know that Dedrick sent you.
