I stopped here for lunch on new year's day. It was busy and had a vibrant atmosphere. The grilled haddock fillet was great and well done. The spicy cole slaw had a nice kick. Service was good and fairly quick. Seems like a nice family friendly restaurant.Parking: More free parking near park.

Overall, it was not a good experience. The food was sub-par, and we all were left with upset stomachs that night and next day. I had to ask for a drink menu at a bar... My $11 cocktail (prices not listed on the menu) didn't seem to have much, if any alcohol in it. I understand that prices are increasing everywhere but the food was not worth the price point. The waitress did not do a good job either. After we got our food, we did not see her again until she was giving us our checks. And then trying to pay in cash was obnoxious (the waitress had to make change out of her tips/cash in her little pad), but there is a fee for using a card. I also expect my change to be given to me without having to ask... I work in a restaurant and this is not how the experience should have gone. Maybe some days are better than others or maybe they treat locals better, but I will not be back. It also was not that busy.

I went twice during my stay in OIB, and the food was great both times. Specifically the crab cakes are really good and not too pricey. However, the service was TERRIBLE both times. The first night I spilt a little of my drink, and the waiter did not come by to check on me again. I ate the rest of my meal with water on the table dripping to the floor and without a napkin since I used mine to try to clean up the water. On my second visit, the first half of the service was good, and the waitress even came back to check on how the food was (which did not happen on the first night). About halfway through the meal, our waitress disappeared. We waited over 30 minutes after we were finished eating to pay and leave, and in that time the waitress reappeared and stood talking to her coworkers for an extended period of time. I would you get takeout.

Boy howdy, where do I start? Pelican’s Perch is definitely a bar and from what I hear they serve food as well. Let’s just start with the negatives. First of all, I have never seen a single pelican perched in, or around, this establishment. False advertisement? Maybe. But what they lack in avian clientele, they make up for in their friendly service staff. All off the staff at the Pelican’s Perch are welcoming, friendly and dare I say beautiful. The most notable among them however is Taylor. Taylor (she/her) is a wait staff member who goes above and beyond the call of duty. She is the best waitress I have ever been blessed to be around. I wish everyone I dealt with in my daily life had the same gusto that Taylor has. This restaurant is blessed to have such a gracious and wonderful waitress.

Service and food were great! We went to two other restaurants that had 2 hr wait, this place got us seated within 10 minutes and we were acknowledged by the waitress immediately. Our drinks and appetizers came out quickly (we had the Pelican bites) and our meals followed shortly thereafter. Our party had chicken tenders and fries, shrimp quesadillas, OIB shrimp tacos with spicy slaw (must try), fried shrimp, and the Pelican dip.

My favorite local restaurant! The menu is delicious with many different choices. My favorite is a special night which starts on Thursdays during off season. The comfort food, chicken pie with southern sides is delicious!! The perfect home-cooked meal with friends at my favorite local place. Can't wait for the summer at Pelicans Perch!

Cold beer and nice food. I had a burger, it was great with 8oz lean ground beef. Menu has a broad selection. Friendly prompt service with a smile. Indoor and outdoor seating. Pelican’s Perch also has a nice selection of seafood.

Food was decent. Probably wouldn’t recommend cheese fries as they put nacho cheese on them, unless you like nacho cheese….oyster po-boy was good. Service was slow but it was a busy day so I’m complaining. Was couple minutes from walking back out bc we were almost 20 min at table with not even an acknowledgment.

We ordered the Pelican Bites (battered & fried bite-size pieces of Haddock) for an appetizer, and the Pelican Dip for the entrée. The Pelican Bites were very good, but the Pelican Dip was even better -- generous portion of shaved steak with onions, bell peppers, and provolone. The flavorful au jus made the sandwich even tastier. We ordered it with a side off Sweet Potato Fries (which came with Apple Butter dipping sauce). One of our favorite places at Ocean Isle Beach. Terrific staff, too.

Very poorly managed establishment. I first went to order the ocean Isle sampler then they told me that the jalapeño mozzarella balls were now an up charge even though it is on the menu, I would have to stick with mozzarella sticks if I did not want to pay the upcharge. Then I went to order the hamburger steak with okra and mashed potatoes which I was told by the waitress was on their special list for the day. Mind you this is 1 PM then she comes back 20 minutes later and tells me that the okra is Not available and then with less than four plates in front of us, and took almost 37 minutes to get our food, I did not eat it sent the waitress to do his dirty work and wouldn’t come tell me that they didn’t have the okra if you’re the owner of a restaurant and you’re in there and you don’t have two items that are on your menu. Wouldn’t you come and tell the guest yourself gutless. I will never return to this establishment and will tell anyone any chance I get to never go to This place

Very nice bar and grille. Convenient walk for many visiting or staying in Ocean Isle. Staff was very courteous and kind. Had the BYO Burger and it was delicious. Prepared perfectly. My wife greatly enjoyed the crab cake sandwich. They have the best kids menu in terms of selection and quality vs. any restaurant in the area. Nice bar as well. Definitely worth a visit if in the Ocean Isle/Shalotte/Holden Beach Area.Parking: More parking in additional lot besides restaurant.Kid-friendliness: Awesome kids menu!

Such a great outdoor atmosphere! We thoroughly enjoyed the live music, friendly staff, and most of the food. The she-crab soup was not very warm, but tasted good. Fried shrimp was tasty & hot.The price of things was quite a bit more than I anticipated, given the casual atmosphere and grill-type menu. $70 for 2 fried shrimp entrees (with cole slaw and a side of soup), 1 Coke, and 1 water.It cost the same as an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet (with crab legs) for 2 people. (We had that a couple days later. )Overall happy with the experience, though.

Strawberry salad is spectacular ! It is always on point . My friend and I ordered club sandwiches with two different sides .The potato salad is slightly sweet with a touch of celery . The mac n cheese was so good and was the first thing eaten . You can tell it is homemade and it was sprinkled with extra cheese ! We often go during lunch , and you can always find a seat to eat .Even though it has a bar area , its totally cool to bring your kids in for a quick bite to eat. The atmosphere is laid back and relaxed and its one of our go to places :)

It’s that time of year when almost everybody is closed so we swang by what used to be an old reliable.As others have mentioned, whatever they’re doing to the wings these days is a crime against chicken: gristly, chewy, burnt-oil-tasting can’t be covered up by all the sauce in the world.The grilled chicken on the salad lacked almost any seasoning, and was very tough.The jalapeño bites are just nauseating; I’m perfectly fine with frozen cheese sticks so I get why they switched to these - good concept - but the execution is awful. There’s a queasiness-inducing interaction between the peppers and the cheese that tastes very artificial.The hush puppies are hard enough that they are better used being loaded into a potato gun.They do make a very nice side salad, especially at the price, and the cheeseburger cooked to order is very well done.But, those wings are just awwwwwffffuull, and the inability to do basic fried food competently is really puzzling for this area.Service was excellent and it’s a nice atmosphere but won’t be back any time soon.Oh, almost forgot: the 4% credit card surcharge was a nice surprise!

I got the buffalo and sweet chili wings, six of each. They are not crispy and we're cooked just enough for me not to gripe about them. (Sometimes the non-crispy are undercooked). It came with celery and carrots and blue cheese dressing. Wife got the strawberry salad and liked it. I got a draft IPA. Bartender was nice enough. Not real crowded. No where in this town is real crowded. Prices were reasonable. I would go back.

Wonderful service from Pelican's Perch and the server Taylor! I had fried chicken tenders and was grateful for non-seafood options on their menu. The rest of the party enjoyed margaritas, draft beer, and the OIB Tea cocktail as well as their own meals. We sat outside and enjoyed the music and meals we had. To be waited on you must walk inside and let your server know you plan to sit inside or outside before sitting and being asked for orders. I think some patrons don't know this and therefore leave poor reviews.Overall: 9/10. I would recommend this restaurant to any island-goers who want a place to eat and drink central to the island or near the main road.

We had a wonderful dinner with fantastic service! After a nearby restaurant cancelled our reservation for 20 people, we called Pelican’s to see if they’d be able to squeeze us in. Not only did they make space for our huge family group at the last minute, but we had the best service! Thank you for the good food, frequent beverage refills, and super friendly and efficient service! We forgot to ask the server her name, but she was awesome!

As were person's below, my wings were horribly dry and had that bony mineral taste of wings recooked too many times . But what really made them awful was the sauce.Unlike the person before, ordered not mild, but rather the hottest sauce they had. It was not only now very hot, but barely edible. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. It had almost a vinegary ketchup flavors. Barbeque sauce was the only thing I could think of, so I laughed when I later read the other reviews description of it tasting like barbeque sauce.I love barbecue, but not this sauce, whatever it was and, whatever it was, it was was awful with wings. The fact that both my hottest you have and the other reviewer's mild sauces thought it tasted like barbecue sauce suggests something amiss.I liked the restaurant otherwise. The drink was good, the atmosphere relaxed, the service was fine for someone like me killing time and wanting my own space. It seemed the servers liked their jobs and each other.But the wings were the worst wings I've ever had and wings are my default American restaurant/bar food.I am not sure if someone gave me the wrong sauce, but even if they were in serving me that sauce, it was awful.I suggest a better sauce recipe and perhaps new source for wings.
