Review for the market only. It's a small market compared to the grocery chains, but they have what you want.Please do not get the shrimp salad, the chicken salad, the peanut noodles, or any of the desserts as I hate when they sell out!In all seriousness, those 'homemade' items are fantastic! The people there are great - personable and helpful.On days off, we usually grab a six pack and makings for a beach picnic all in one place.

Friendly staff greet you when you enter and you can have a look around this small market well-stocked with nearly anything you might find you need while here.We just needed a few little things like salad dressing, sour cream, a few drinks, and snacks. I saw a beautiful hand-made spinach salad at the deli section and took it in case I didn't like the BBQ my mom prepared (which I didn't) so this $6.99 salad loaded with fresh spinach, berries, cheese and sesame seeds, was a life safer. Huge portion, fresh, and low price. They had an equally delicious-looking Cobb salad I'd have gotten another day if here for more than one.They have all the other little sundries you'll need or anything you may have forgotten - laundry detergent, motor oil, key chain, etc.

Nice little general store. Decent fishing supplies and beach supplies. Food options are great. Didn't get to hit the fresh deli due to being closed but the self help deli sandwiches looked good. Went with this wrap and man was it delicious. Awesome flavor very impressed!Food & drinks: Delicious

To start... 8/27 my daughter purchased sandwiches etc for lunch and told me how good and friendly they are everytime she goes. The next evening after dinner my grand kids wanted ice cream from Fat Boys.... well the parking lot was full and I needed few groceries so we parked at grocery and went inside get few things (instead of going to a chain store spending less money) while my daughter took grands over for ice cream. We were the only ones in store no one in parking lot. We felt uncomfortable while shopping, feeling like they thought we were doing something wrong. We checked out and were waiting outside for the Grands to return... as we were waiting in parking lot , the ladies at the registers were glaring at us from inside and then the lady sitting on porch looking at her phone comes to me saying "if you are waiting for someone you need to move to side of building"... I understand if there were lots of ppl and cars in parking lot and they needed space BUT THERE WAS NO ONE THERE . We left and will not return. I do love supporting small businesses always but this was ridiculous truly. This was a 1 and done.

Nice family owned type market and Deli. Great sandwiches to go, deli meats, cheeses and salads. All the basic groceries and meats including the best ribeye steaks we've had recently. Our go to market while staying at So. Nags Head.

I love this market. Not a full size grocery store but they always have the basics. I go over early everyMorning to get a news paper and a biscuit. I enjoy setting on the front porch having my breakfast and watch the early morning traffic go by. The staff is always friendly and helpful. In the 12 years of summer vacation, they are the best..

I just went there today for lunch and when we walked in we were greeted pretty terribly, had to buy a paper mask for 2 bucks, but it was no big deal. We bought two salads and they were fine, but when we went into the dressing isle to buy some for our salads... all of the dressing had gone bad. I got the hunch to look at the dates when I saw how discolored they were. Every single one I picked up was out dated by at least a year (i have no clue how that’s even possible) and I bought the only dressing that was dated for today, May 7. I thought it wasn’t bad because if it expires today it should be good right? Opened it up, smelt bad. We called them and the lady , I’m assuming the manager of the store didn’t even apologize, cut my boyfriend off and while he was speaking and told him that the “sell by” date was different than the “best by” date which doesn’t make any sense because there was only one expiration date on their items. We just wanted them to know they’re selling expired items and they don’t even care. Don’t buy food from here unless you really inspect and look at the dates. I can’t believe she’s selling that stuff and doesn’t care!

Cahoons is a great little market! It is very clean and presentable both inside and out. Good place to grab some essentials plus souvenirs, fishing needs, food, and drinks. The staff is very friendly. Some seating outside if you are walking and need a quick break in the shade. Conveniently located. Keep up the good work Cahoons. I will be back.

This place ...They need improvement. The cashiers were okay, not too serious and not so friendly.The first time I went there I was followed around. And I returned a second time and the same thing happened and the cashier (which she was an older woman unlike the previous day) was really examining my debit card as if she were looking for a flaw in it. Was it because I was not caucasian?The convenience was there and had all I was looking at surprisingly decent prices.Will I return if I forgot an item? Probably.Do I recommend this place as being friendly? No.

Great little grocery store. Great people. Slightly higher prices but irs closer than food lion so it equals out in the end. Small price to pay for big bags of ice to get you back to the pool or beach in short time. All Hail Cahoons.

I moved here two years ago and finally got to try Cahoons. This place is awesome with all your needs in one place. The sandwiches were incredible and the staff was very nice and helpful. I will be stopping here before many of my beach days.

This place has been here since I first started coming to Nags Head as a kid. They have all sorts of groceries, cigarettes, alcohol, and even a great selection of toys and clothes. When I was a kid I opened a bottle of mustard in the store and started drinking it right out of the bottle. When I visit the store, my mom always embarrasses me by retelling that story to the owner, who is still there after all these years. They'll treat you like family.

while the staff was kind and the service was fast the deli wrap left me disappointed. the chicken wrap i got had hardly anything to it other than lettuce and the wrap. i don’t know if that was an error or the normal order, but i won’t rush back.

Love this store. Everyone I've dealt with there has always been very nice and helpful. The store is clean and very convenient. Prices are very comparable to the big stores.Their slogan is right, if they don't have it you don't need it.

We stop by every trip. Came in on Sunday and they were out of what I wanted in the deli. Called the next day to ask if they had made any. The lady told me she had no idea what they had. So instead I guess it perfectly fine to waste another drive down and take a chance. Do you think we went back? No! Do you think we will go back ever? No! Customer service is a thing of the past.

We've been going the last 3 years they have everything you need at the store from buying food to cook ur own meal in ur cottage to having them make you a delicious sandwich or any of ur beach needs the people are friendly and the cottages are so nice were coming in September and we can't wait!!

This used to be my favorite place to get sandwiches but I will never shop here again. I've never been treated so rudely by staff. I was verbally accosted by a cashier who didn't like that I was using my own hand sanitizer instead of the stores DIRTY bottle. She came very close to physically touching me - trying to force me to use their DIRTY bottle of hand sanitizer. If they are so worried about COVID, the owner should get the staff appropriate masks that fit correctly and monitor that they are wearing them correctly- because neither cashier was.

We've bought all our beach umbrellas at Cahoons. They carry Surf Gear market umbrellas which are durable. Today did not disappoint and we had the personal attention of a very helpful employee.Right on Beach Road across from Sam and Omies, Cahoons is a beach classic. Stop by, they'll welcome you with a smile!

Great deli meats! We walked out the door without our beer. We didn't realize until half hour later probably. I called and they had got my husbands name off his credit card slip, put our beer in a brown bag and labeled it with hubby's info and put it back in the cooler. Very sweet girls working there! ☺

A wonderful convenience store with a full deli, great selection of beer and wine. Fresh produce, excellent meats such as steaks, sausage, bacon, chicken. IceCream, desserts, pantry items, beach floats, coolers, fishing gear, bait and tackle. The best chicken salad in town (3 choices of style). A must stop in Nags Head!

We just got back from a week vacation at cahoons cottages. It was absolutely PERECT! 3 beautiful bedrooms, nice sized kitchen/livingroom area and a bathroom just like home. We've stayed at cottages elsewhere and always have the same issue of no where to put anything like bathroom items and groceries.....this place provides empty shelving in the kitchen and empty shelving in the bathroom! So you can put your groceries on the shelves without cluttering the counter! Same with the bathroom, plenty of space to set your things up without cluttering and spilling shampoo bottles. The covered deck was absolutely perfect! The veiw was amazing and staff was wonderful and brought us fresh towels Tuesday and Thursday. We definitely hope to return! Having the market right there made it so easy to grab groceries! Plenty of restaurants in walking distance or a short drive. Can easily have a "socially distant" vacation at this cottage! The beach is right there and fellow beach goer's were respectful to keep space between everyone (for those of you hesitant to take a trip during covid, this was an amazing spot to go!) Though masks were worn and protocols followed, it truely felt like a break from covid. We very much enjoyed our visit and would highly reccomend this cottage to anyone looking for a prime spot to vacation!

We've been staying at Cahoons for more than 20 years and have ALWAYS had an amazing time. Have never encountered one rude person - always greeted with a hug from the staff upon arriving. Can't imagine staying anywhere else. Highly recommend it.

Here to complain about the owner which seems like a common issue. My parents have had a home in South Nags Head for 19 years now and my father comes here every morning, but unfortunately no more. My husband and I took 2 cars coming home from mini golf and stopping at the market to grab some things before headed home. I ran inside while my husband stayed in the car. The employees were very nice and a few young men even helped me bring things to my car. I come back and my husband is being screamed at by the female owner. He was confused about why he would be asked to move so he said “I’m sorry, am I in a handicap parking?” He was not. She stormed away and called us “morons from New Jersey”. When I confronted her she told a different story. Completely rude. Can’t believe anyone runs a business this way.
