I'm sure this is more of a local grocery store for people who live in the area, but it's a great find if you need to pick up some extra things if you're vacationing in the area. Cute little setup I'm sure this has been around forever. They have fruits, vegetables, meats, beer, drinks pretty much what you would expect a small true grocery store to have. They have a little Deli area and also seem to have daily specials on premade food you can get. Pretty easy in and out spot. While I was there they had someone painting the mural on the side of the building which was pretty cool. I spoke to him for a few minutes and he was a local art teacher at a school. So if you need to get some extra chips, hamburgers for the grill this is a good place to come.

I can't say enough that they remodeled this store. No, they overhauled it from when I was a kid.It's so busy! In the best of ways. Even with big names coming down the island, they are staying strong with their prices.I shop here on all of my trips. Get it all here, even your meats!

Nice to have a grocery store in Hatteras. Friendly Service. Beer Cave. Great Selection of Wine. Deli is very reasonable. 9.99 lb for Roast Beef. They even have Greek yogurt and produce. Pricey and worth the convenience. Drive to Food Lion round trip, plus shopping, about 90 minutes. Red and White, the way to go. Will return, have returned often.

I had my doubts because this place was so small, but the writers block was opening and I needed food. This will be my sole grocery store when staying south of Avon. Prices much better than those at the closest competitor with, honestly, a much better selection of veggies and snacks. They don't take AMEX so no points there, but still well worth the loss of them with friendliness and a much shorter line.

Friendly service; everything you could want in a regular grocery store, including a butcher to cut fresh deli meat. Large selection of beer & wine. Great options all the way out here in southern OBX ! Open since 1866 this place is a cool and very convenient staple of the community!

One of the island's gems! Old, poorly lit, cramped and all the other wonderful nostalgic characteristics that make the store a fantastic throwback experience! You can find any grocery item that you need and the store's location is perfect for the South end of the island. We consider a stop at the Red and White a "must do" when staying south of Avon.

I loved the workers, the easy checkout, great products, but the ramp is too steep. Let’s just say that granny will be stuck in that wheelchair for a lot longer than we thought. I never knew wheel chairs could go from 0 to 60 in 15.3 seconds.

It never fails. Your cashiers will always over charge us for something!! That’s some shady stuff you do over there.We own our house in Hatteras Village; sure we may not live there 24/7, but we do pay taxes 24/7, and those taxes go towards many things that the full time locals benefit from.So that being said, to the rude cashier with the nose ring and bad acne, wearing a Playboy bunny T-shirt...maybe have some more respect towards the patrons who spend their hard earned money in the store that employs you. How hard is it to say "good morning" and "thank you for stopping in"???

Very much appreciated them carrying name brand as well as budget brands. The debit card machine has troubles running my card. Employees were patient and ended up switching registers which solved the problem.

This place is really great, surprisingly well stocked for a store in small community, with a nice selection of beers, as well as fresh fruit and vegetables. If you are coming here for vacation don’t bother stocking up on groceries on your way in – this place should take care of your needs.

small town supermarket with everything you need and very fair prices. this supermarket is literally close to everything in Cape Hatteras. We stayed at Durant's station and the supermarket is about 3 minutes away!

It's a good old-fashioned grocery store that has great customer service. You'll find a little bit of everything in there. If you need something while in Hatteras this is the place to go.

Cashiers purposely overcharge you for small things and then make it seem like it was an innocent mistake only IF you catch them. There’s some dishonest people working there. Plus the younger cashiers are a bunch of rude, disrespectful girls. Going into that store, is like walking into a musty old grandmothers house.Fix your freezer too. If Jessie (Surf’n’Spoon) knew his ice cream sandwiches were sitting in ice frost and freezer burned, I’m certain he’d stop selling them there.

Big renovation in the last few years! This place is great. We used to call it a Russian bodega but now it’s awesome! Good selection of beer and seltzer. Fresh produce looked good and a large meat section. Now we don’t have to go up to O’Connor’s any more because they have everything you need.If you are looking for something huge like a food lion you will be disappointed but this place is perfect for the island. Good stuff at a fair price!

This place has changed ownership and is now spectacular!!!! We were here last year and it was very run down and the shelves were mostly empty. This year the interior is completely remodelled and it looks beautiful and clean and the shelves are well organized and full! Lots if fresh veggies and fruits as well which was non existent last year!Great job guys, keep up the good work and we have finally found a great place to shop locally for groceries when we stay in Hatteras!

This grocery store is a bit of a time capsule to yesteryear. There was a Red & White in my Grandmother's hometown in the Southern Tier of NY. It was much smaller than this one, yet the Village R&W feels almost the exact same. And that's a good thing! We go to Hatteras every year, so we'll be back to see you all next summer. Thank you for being there and for retaining that "feel".
