Today I got the bait and switch. I took my bathing suits to the register and was informed that the “buy one, get one 50% off” sale was only on select swimsuit items. I took the picture (which clearly states ALL SWIMWEAR) and returned to the register only to be told there was nothing that could be done. I’m very disappointed and will not recommend. I’ve been shopping at Kitty Hawk Kites for over 30 years and will not return. 👎🏼

Today I bought a $70 dollar kite. That experience was fine. I brought it back thinking it was missing part of the frame. I realized that I had all parts. I then took it out to fly it. The kite did a nose dive which happens when flying a kite for the first time. One of the frame rods broke. I took it back and was told that if the wind gusts above 25 mph that you can't return it. The manager pulls out a flyer that wasn't given to me at the time of purchase. The cashier never mentioned this after two visits. The manager comes out and points to a piece of paper under the glass. Again it was never pointed out to me or explained at time of purchase. I left before I got super mad. $70 dollars down the drain. I bought a kite on a windy day. Please Kitty Hawk kites explain this policy verbally at time of purchase or at least point the flyer out. Preferably both. I was never even given the flyer.

If you go anywhere in the Outer Banks and do NOT go into at least ONE of their many stores, then can you really say you've been in the Outer Banks?

Disappointing but not surprising. A toy we got broke (cheaply made). You know the dodecahedron squeeze ball with the yellow that squeezes through the blue! So fun and so many stores have them. Some last for years, some don’t. Either way we just wanted another one for our year old son to play with. He’s a strong little boy for sure but it is unlikely he mustered enough force to break a rubber squeeze ball. It would be simple to just buy another one but I don’t waste even small amount of money where people are unprofessional and “small town.” No one cares about your kite store or your cheap overseas products. I especially don’t care for you or your lack of a qualified employee to run your store. She attempted to deny that I bought the toy from them and refused to look at the receipt. Luckily the fishing will still be good when this pathetic excuse for a family friendly vacation spot is wiped off the face of the earth by the next major hurricane!

Great place to shop. The staff were very friendly and it was nice place to get info on places to visit and local places to go . The lady working in there was awesome.

Little too much stuff in this store... It is definetly Not stoller friendly, however great store with tons of goodies to choose from.

I ordered Kites and received very well, however I wanted to rent bikes while there for the week as described on the website. Sent several emails with NO response. It's two weeks before we arrive so I called - they do not rent bikes!!!! and no one bothered to email me back to let me know - that is poor service!

This is one of my favorite places to shop when visiting Hatteras. If you're in need of gifts, souvenirs, or vacation gear, then you've come to the right place. I always find something fun to remember my OBX vacation. Oh, and the kites are truly epic!

Kitty hawk kites has a lot of neat and high grade products, some products can be a little pricey. With that being said, we've bought 3 kites and they are still going strong after years of flying Staff is friendly. The island locals are all friendly.

Great place! Went there more than once....bought nice pair of CARVE sunglasses. Dropped them 2 hours later, chipped the glass, irritating! Went back, spoke to Ssrah the manager. She looked up warranty on web, thought I was good. Got home, no luck, lots of hoops to jump.
