We came across The Dancing Turtle during our recent Hatteras vacation & quickly made it part of our morning routine. The staff was great! There are so many beverage options, both coffee and "non-coffee," and a wide selection of syrups to choose from!" (The frozen hot chocolate was so good!) There was seating both inside & outside. The outdoor area was very charming with swings, tables, and lots of shade!

We followed Google instructions, and it took us to Village Market, where they told us the place was remodeling. However, there were no signs everywhere, so we wasted our time. The Village Market has nothing appealing but the same lousy produce and overprocessed American food. Nothing fresh, not even fish, with the ocean close. Recommendation: Could they make homemade fresh shrimp empanadas and sell them to hungry customers?

Ok... I'm a snob. I'll admit it. I'm PAINFULLY picky about my coffee (which is why I generally just do it myself) and the bar was low. Mostly because of severe disappointment each time I order something... anywhere. Not here. Not ever. This was a stop on our first morning on the island and we were there nearly every day they were open after. Perfectly steamed milk, perfectly balanced flavor. (At least when who I'm assuming to be the or one of the shop owners is making the drink.) There's love in that cup. There's a sense of pride in the craft and my God did it not come through. A lavender latte is a hard thing to balance but it worked, flawlessly. I'd drive an hour south just to get a cup. It's that good. The outside seating is a welcome and refreshing plus. Sitting in a rocking chair with one of your favorite friends, sipping on a cup of perfection is the absolute best start to a day and I'm so glad I got to experience it here.

Such an awesome little coffee shop! I work as a digital nomad and will bunker down in coffee shops for several hours at a time. This coffee shop was excellent!The internet was fast, the service was friendly and they had some very comfortable couches! It's a neat little vibe and they are the only shop on the island.Highly recommend stopping by if your in the area, I will be for sure working from there again.

Such a cute coffee shop. Great coffee and offers different pastries, bagels, and snacks. They let you use your own container and have free WiFi, and sell shirts and other various items and art! Definitely plan on coming here again. You can also buy bulk tea and coffee. Yum

We got 2 coffees and 2 souvenirs. Our total was 60 some dollars... they were pretty busy and had sold out of a lot of their food items so we didn't get to try that which was mainly our point for going. The coffees were pretty good. I do wish the souvenirs had been priced so we would have known how much we were spending before the cashier told us the total.

Review 2020: Quick service, great mannered employees, outdoor dining area, all employees wore masks (covid), pet friendly, wide array of food and drinks, french roast purchases to aid working coffee farming families. A great experience and highly recommended.Review 2021: Same thoughts as before! Now with some indoor seating available. It seems as though the toasted coconut is a favorite by many. I was able to get my iced coffee and fresh ,still warm, scone for less than 5 dollars.

My Bestie and I came to this coffee shop and we absolutely loved it. I ordered a sticky bun and it was the best sticky bun I have ever eaten, it wasn’t dry at all and it just felt like it melted in my mouth. The iced coffee was so good as well. I can’t wait to return and try other things on the menu. If I could give this more the 5 stars I would.

One of the only coffee shops in Hatteras area. We were staying at the marina and made sure to drop by for morning coffee and $1 day old pastries.Cheap, great service and good food and great environment. They have a whole outside area with benches and tree swings. Pastries were to die for. Better than Starbucks with a mom and pop feel.Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp for wheelchair

I came here on vacation and ordered a peach lemonade. The lemonade tasted like chemicals. I took the drink back to see if I could just get a regular lemonade they made us pay and they made the exact same drink again. They handled the situation very poorly and unprofessionally. I would not recommend spending your money on a place like this .

Super disappointed in this place now. I’ve been coming to hatteras for 23 years and the Dancing Turtle was always a highlight - until it moved. This new space is small, hot, and just not pleasant to be in. The old location had open mic nights, tasteful decor, and cozy spots to hang out. The flow here to order and receive your drink is awful. You need bug spray just to walk to the door. The kids who work there aren’t friendly and know nothing about coffee. They seem to batch brew espresso into a pitcher and then use it for drinks. The pastries sit on the edge of the counter in an exposed “case”- no protection from bugs or people sneezing/coughing. I ordered 3 iced drinks- each of them had probably 6 small ice cubes and were warm by the time I got them home. My mocha had separated and turned into little clumps. I waited for about 20 mins for all my drinks as the next 5 people in line ordered and received theirs first. These kids need coffee & customer service training, and the place needs to be deep cleaned. Super sad downfall of one of hatteras’ best establishments. Won’t be back.

Not awful for coffee, but the girls there had no manners and were more worried about simply fixing the coffee than taking care of their customers. Probably won't be back if we come back to OBX for vacation. Location is also not very accessible, the entire walkway was submerged after the rain, and it's a very small house converted into a shop. Didn't feel like much of a coffee shop.

This year we even enjoyed new location better than previous one. This location in older house, so charming & authentic to Hatteras. Clean, small tables,chairs to enjoy delicious coffees, teas, fruit smoothies w/ freshly baked pastries. A lovely room of local small art gifts to browse. Charming, efficient staff w owner. Located under gorgeous old trees (oaks?), right next door to Blue Pelican on one side & red, white grocery on other side. Delightful stop!
