This was my 2nd stay at Breakwater. It’s everything I need and nothing I don’t. I go to Hatteras to fish, eat, and drink. Conveniently located where all of those things are accessible, this is my favorite place. I stayed in the Fisherman’s Quarters as it allows my pup to join me. Always clean and stocked with towels and toiletries. Friendly and helpful staff. I will be returning soon and recommend Breakwater Inn to everyone.

We visited for our anniversary and always love staying and eating at the breakwater inn and restaurant. Very convenient to enjoy a cocktail on the balcony while watching the fishing boats come in unload their catch and then walking over to grab a delicious dinner at the breakwater. Prefect evenings.. Thank you Odens Family, you guys rock!!

Great price for a hotel near the beach. Clean, comfortable, and great location. What more do you want.They are great to work with when your fishing trip gets blown out.Nearby activities: Hatters fishing fleet is within walking distance.

Unique suite layout. Small, but sufficient for one night. Fortunate to find this room, as they don't seem to cater to day trippers. Receptionist was very accommodating and friendly, and worked us into a one night stay. Room is quite clean and pleasant. LOVE the view and the little balcony. A/C is working great. Suite is bright with plenty of windows which gives it a more airy feel.Price was in line for location and season. I would definately make reservations here for my next trip whenever that may be. Not sure how the parking works out, with a full house, but I've got a good spot and not planning on moving until tomorrow. Restaurant right out back which we'll try, for our anniversary supper. Favorably impressed by the Breakwater Inn.

They people and the place are always top-notch. It's hard to improve on salt life. The only complaint my husband ever makes is that they need bar chairs on the balcony because the water horizon is blocked by the railing. I am slightly shorter, so I dont have that problem.Walkability: There are so many things within walking distance, including the ferry!Food & drinks: They even have a very nice restaurant on premises.

Very clean room and amazing sound view. Beds are super comfy. Staff is friendly and helpful. Really nice and give local tourist tips and suggestions. I made the reservation last minute and was extremely happy sign this hidden gem. There is a really nice restaurant right next door. If you’re into fishing, there is a boat dock immediately behind the inn. Highly recommend. Will be back for sure!!

The room was much nicer than expected. Hard floor made it easy to clean up sand and the room was always a comfortable temperature. Bathroom was a little small but no issues for me.

The location was great as it was very close to the boat ramp. The room was fairly clean but had a strong musty or moldy odor. The two other rooms we checked also had the same odor. The smell bothered my wife to the point that we had to leave one day early. The management still charged us for the final night of our reservation even though it was the condition of the room that forced us to leave. The hotel advertises free WiFi but you can't access it from your room due to the weak signal. The free breakfast was adequate, consisting of bagels, instant oatmeal, fruit, and packaged muffins and danishes. You'll have to bring your own juice though; only coffee, tea, and water was available to drink. In the evenings, free brownies were available. If you are are a group of guys looking for a decent place to stay and can overlook the odor...well I still would not recommend this place. If I ever return to Hatteras, I will bring a tent.

The room had no towel racks-none. Leaving a towel on the fridge was the same as the floor so they took it which is not what I intended. The sink had no stopper so washing t shirts was not really effective. They did not replace the coffee cup, and did not leave more coffee. Microwave didn't work right. There was no toilet roll holder. The tv always started on the same weather-type channel so you had to find what you wanted every time. These annoyances are either very easy to fix or should never have happened in the first place, so this is no better than 1 star. It has a good location right in Hatteras.

Amazing spot close to the Ocracoke ferry launch.Great restraunt. Very clean rooms and responsive management even when they are off property.We build cell towers and we will be staying here again when providing communications to the islandNo complaints.

Checked in late. The office was closed but key was left in the after hours box. We discovered that the toilet was plugged and didn't flush properly. Tried to call the after hours maintenance but got no answer . Left a message but nobody ever responded. I mentioned the issue to the office staff upon checkout the next morning. Said they would have someone look at it but barely even offered an apology. The room was fine but based on the experience I can't give them more than a so-so rating. Will certainly try someplace else on our next visit.

Really great place, quiet, very friendly staff, clean cozy rooms, what more could you ask for. And close to beach access. We enjoyed our stay during the surf fishing tournament and definitely will be returning

We only stayed one night which is why I gave 3 stars. Trying to give the benefit of the doubt. We stayed in the fisherman’s quarters. The rooms are old and it shows mainly in the bathroom. My toilet ran all night I had to shut the water off. The next day when I went to take a shower I had no hot water in the shower and all the hot water in the sink. After turning the toilet back on I didn’t have any hot water in the sink. Aside from that the stay was quiet and the staff was polite.

My fiancé and I rented a room for a weekend while we had our engagement photos done. Absolutely the BEST!!! The rooms were spotless, clean, and the lady who was at the desk was so Awesome. Can't wait to go back.

Friendly staff and accomodating. Good location to Ocracoke Ferry and Hatteras Beach. Pet Friendly.Restaurants and stores within walking distance.Room quality is good, never had any issues.Anytime we are in the area we stay at this hotel.

Very nice room,don't expect to get anything to eat after 9pm on the whole island as everything closes. Motel staff is not around until 830am to 630pm.all rooms are non smoking.over all I would stay here again

Dissipointing, great reviews but the building we were in is pet friendly (we have two dogs) that building old and very much in need for a facelift. Clean and the staff very friendly. Definitely not worth the price though. Plus $30 pet fee.

Worst hotel I have been in in my life! Avoid at all costs. We tried two different rooms and both stunk so bad of mold and mildew I pretty much stayed on the deck all night. Dingy and long outdated, this is a candidate to be torn down entirely. This is one I will be reporting to the local health commissioner as well, it is that bad. I've had 20 years experience in hospitality and have never run across a room that literally has the possibility of sending someone to a hospital for mold exposure. No amount of cleaning would help this place.

I never ever take time to post reviews. 1st one here. I decided to go to hatteras last minute before a holiday weekend. When I booked on the phone I was expecting nothing much at all just a place to enjoy the area. This place is affordable and clean, the view of the harbor is perfect and the staff was super nice. Will be staying here every trip

I was running a 100 mile race and my wife checked in after hours to a room that stunk of fish and mildew. She called the emergency number to get a new room. She then tried two other rooms and both had an overwhelming scent of mold and musk. She told the man at the desk about the smell but said she would open the door to air the room out. After an hour the smell was so bad that she decided to leave and sleep in her car at the end of the race. We called and asked for any compensation and none was given.

Clean rooms, friendly staff, dog friendly with decent walking areas. Restaurant, docks, grocery and hardware store within walking distance, 8ft pool, lovely natural landscaping work makes for a pleasant evening and day walks

No frills hotel catering to the fishing crowd. Comfy bed, hot showers, wifi and cable. Not much else but that's all you need when you're on the water all day. We will be back.
