A good well-rounded selection in the store and a super compfy little campground with very friendly owners. A creek wraps around the camping area and a gourgous mountain river to swim and fish or mountain trail to hike is just a stones through away. A great place for an anual visit, be it a weekend or a couple weeks.Amenities:bathroom/showers, rustic/evectric/and rv hookup sites, reasonably priced wood for sale.

We stopped here for information on dispersed camping and they were very helpful. She told us 3 options to check out. Unfortunately so much of the dispersed camping in the area has been changed to day use only area because people have no respect and trash up the place. 😒 Anyway, we found a spot and then realized we didn't have propane for the cook stove and luckily they had one. It was $15 but totally worth not having to drive 2 hours round trip to a bigger store. They have a little bit of everything and they are super helpful and friendly.

My husband and I stopped here yesterday on one of our “Adventure Days”. Great little eclectic store that you hope you find in the middle of nowhere. Canned goods, hot dogs, ice cream, fishing supplies, etc. We were lucky enough to find the owner, Bruce Gray, on the porch. Being retired we are rarely in a hurry so we sat down and ate ice cream and had a great conversation with Bruce. Definitely put this in your GPS and stop by. It’s also a campground And he has live music on the weekends when the weather is right. As Bruce says “Peace and Love, Children”.

Best hotdogs on Wilson Creek (only hotdogs on Wilson Creek). Come hang out on the porch with Bruce and watch the world go by in beautiful Mortimer, NC population 5. Salute! Also, Betsy's has a campground behind the store for tent and RV camping.

What an awesome little country store that we stumbled upon while riding our UTV. You got to stop in and see Bruce! He will give you directions to all the cool spots to see. We will be back to stay at the campground for sure!

Have stayed here Many times and have fallen in love not only with the area, but the people who have become good friends and even Fly Fishing buddies. Clean Restrooms, Good Hotdogs and supplies and cant beat the location!!

My wife and I hiked Harpers creek this morning and then stopped at Betsey’s to sit on the porch and eat hotdogs. Excellent service. Excellent hotdogs. Excellent company. Loved it.

Calm, peaceful and quiet until Friday night when about eight tent campers arrived. Music stopped at 10 pm per campground rules but hoops, hollers and shouting voices until 1:30 am Saturday morning. We weren't sure whether or not they were fighting. We would go back during middle of week in the future. The one rental cabin and bathhouse were spotlessly clean.

Can’t recommend this place enough! Came back from mountain biking last evening to find a flat tire on the minivan. Bruce was incredibly helpful from internet access to an air compressor. Saved me from possibly spending a night in the woods.

We depended on Bruce and his staff daily for our much needed ice and supplies. It was great to have this available so close to where we were camping at Mortimer. Bruce has a vast knowledge of hiking in the area he gave us great advice for our daily hikes. Great guy and so willing to help with anything and everything. Very much enjoyed meeting him.

Everyone should visit Betsey's when in the Mortimer area -actually you should go out of your way to find it. An easy walk to hiking and fishing the Wilson Creek area and an amazing place to camp for the weekend.The facilities are clean and the showers are hot - we camped at a 30 amp site with picnic table and fire ring in our camper van and could not have had more fun, been more comfortable or met a nicer group of people.Bruce and Erica went out of their way to be sure we had anything we needed - plenty of ice and firewood available and the food (hot dogs-burgers and steak dinner on Saturday) were great.We arrived as strangers and left as friends and look forward to coming back! Dog friendly for sure- our gal Roan had as much fun as we did.The perfect place to get away.Lauren & Tom Rahill

Came through area on motorcycle trip,stopped and checked on tent/hammock site,they were pretty booked but were very helpful to help find a site for the night,,,a added bonus was hot shower and store with food,,,would definitely stop again,,

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin at Betsy's. The store was perfect for grabbing a cold drink and a snack after hiking. The cabin was so cozy and perfect and the bed was so comfortable. Bruce and his staff were amazing and we can't wait to visit Wilson's Creek again soon to check more hikes off of our list. Thank you!

Thank to Bruce and his staff our kiddos had a fantastic time. We stayed in the teepee which was so cool for the kids. Everything was nice and clean, and cleaned daily. They had hotdogs on the grill everyday for the campers to buy. The store had almost everything u could need. We will always go back to this camp ground!!! Also the river is right there!

About a month ago, two friends and I were hiking in the area and got turned around. We ended up at the wrong parking lot after our hike and eventually found our way to Betsey's. It was pouring down rain and my friends and I were drenched and freezing, caught off-guard by the storm, and pretty lost. The staff welcomed us inside, and they offered us food, coffee, and a change of clothes for free. We changed in the bathroom and warmed up before one of the employees offered to drive us ~30 minutes to where we had originally parked.Truly blessed by the hospitality of all the employees that we interacted with. The three of us are all so thankful for the generosity shown by the employees, and we made it back to our car quite safely. I can only imagine the hospitality shown to the guests/customers and would highly recommend this location from what we saw of the site and the interactions we had with staff :)

Rented the cabin with my wife and three kids under 6. Perfect weekend. Bruce and company couldn’t have been more welcoming. Burgers and dogs were great. Kids had so much fun exploring the creek and nearby waterfall (both easy walks) that they are already talking about going back!

Some great people to meet and hospitality is their thing. Really saved my butt when I needed a fire asap to warm up. Bruce and his wife will definitely help you out and make you feel welcome.Also the dog is a good boy, even if he is bad at being a hunting dog.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the teepee this past weekend, and had an amazing experience! Bruce and all of the staff were friendly and accommodating, and the meals we ate were hearty and delicious! Location is perfect proximity to Wilson’s Creek/Delayed Harvest trout fishing parking lot is a 1 minute drive down the street. We are already planning our next trip!

Bruce and Erica really make you feel at home. They have everything you need on site. They rent cabins and campsites. The bathrooms were very clean. Our campsite was on the trout pond and we had Estes Creek on the other side. Sitting on the Porch at the Ole Country Store was just what I needed. There is so much to do within walking distance , this place would be tough to beat. Definitely make reservations. The Best Hot Dogs.
