Fantastic uncomplicated little coffee shop with an excellent coffee and tea selection. I absolutely appreciate their commitment to eco-friendliness with the use of paper cups, and it's evident they encourage patrons to bring their reusable ones – a definite plus!Free wifi is adequate but slows with congestion. AT&T and T-mobile Hotspot works well here.If you are gluten intolerant, gluten free or celiac, there are no gluten free options for the small selection of baked goods that look really scrumptious. However, I must mention that the music can get a tad too loud for holding a phone conversation. This might not be the ideal spot for conducting business or interviews due to the noise level. But if you're here for a more social experience and want to immerse yourself in your own world, consider bringing headphones or snag a table outside. The vibe here boasts an industrial blend of rustic and urban elements, featuring warm maple tables, bars, benches, and cool steel stools, There are also some convenient spots to plug in and charge up your devices. It almost feels like a cozy corner of a college common area, all tied together with a concrete floor and white-washed brick walls. The spacious bathrooms are well-equipped with changing tables and even cell phone holders, so scroll on while sitting on the loo.In summary, it's a great place if you're looking for a relaxed atmosphere to simply enjoy the company of others without diving deep into work. Whether you're catching up with a friend or soaking in the outdoor scene while sipping on a delightful brew, this place has a lot to offer.Vegetarian options: a couple of vegan bakery options but no gluten free optionsParking: You can park up to 75 minutes then you may be subjected to towing.

My first impression was that they have a lot of seating and plenty of space. The baristas and FOH staff were friendly and well-informed about the menu. I got a flat white and my friend got a decaf latte. We both thought the espresso was very high quality and milk was frothed perfectly!I will come back!

It's one of the main social hubs of Carrboro. You always see friends when you go there. Great coffee and great service!

Great college town coffee shop! Had the Main Street Americana and it was delightful. Very tasty roast. The baristas here are very knowledgeable and provide great service. The inside seating area is not the most comfortable, but it is trendy and looks cool. To be clear, all hard seating - no cushioned seating. There were lots of people there when I visited and the lines seemed almost continuous but moved fast. Casual and easy listening music played. Soft. Not too loud - Classic coffee shop style. You’ll probably like this place unless you just hate trendy. No gender specific bathrooms.

I've been on the hunt for a new coffee place in Carrboro. I came across gray squirrel recently and to be quite frank, it's super mid. I noticed the heavier man kept touching his face while making my drink. Immediately, I was turned off. Coffee itself tasted like it was watered down and burnt, so that was disappointing. Honestly I would pass on this again. Customer service also could have been better. Baristas didn't seem that friendly. Just super average place. Personally, I feel like open eye is better! Also the bathroom wasn't the cleanest.

Overall Gray Squirrel is a great coffee shop with plenty of space to do work. The beans are roasted locally in carrboro and they serve multiple blends for drip and for purchase. The servers were super nice too. Mocha Java blend was below exceptions, but not saying it’s bad. It was chocolately with a hint of berry, very standard and high quality coffee. The Peru Norte Cajamarca was more bitter and kinda nutty (dry) aftertaste. It is supposedly smoky/smooth but I don’t agree with those.

The coffee isn’t good enough to make up for the bad service. I’ve tried coming here twice, both times my drinks both took 20 minutes to make. And all I asked for was a drip coffee… Go somewhere else, don’t waste your time.

This place was so cute and the espresso was bold and delicious. I loved the housemade lavender syrup in my latte as well. My favorite place about this establishment is that they support a living wage for their employees. I asked how I could leave a tip and the employee at the counter told me they didn't accept them and that they were well taken care of. Such a breath of fresh air to hear that! Will definitely be coming back.

Great place to read/ write and enjoy coffee ! Really nice Ambience. Parking is also in the premise and staff is very nice.I am giving 3 start because I didnt like their Chay. I have had better tea at other places. They should definitely improve on their tea !

First real coffee shop I’ve found. I always order a cappuccino and most places the foam is off. After being in Australia and their crazy coffee culture, this is the first place where the coffee matched the quality I had overseas. This might just be my go to place now, plus it’s not very expensive.

I'm from MN so this was my first time trying Gray Squirrel. Wish we had one at home. I got a iced coffee made with maple syrup and macadamia milk. It was creamy and smooth. Loved it!

I love Gray Squirrel Coffee! The cold brew is very high quality and they make an amazing Oat Milk Latte (I prefer it iced). There are delicious maple and lavender syrups if you are feeling adventurous. The prices are a little expensive, but to support a great, local coffee shop the value is amazing. Highly recommend!

Best espresso in Carrboro! And the drip coffee exceeds expectations for drip coffee. They're a living wage employer so prices will seem higher than other local shops because tips aren't expected. If you're looking for cozy homey coffee shop vibes this is likely not the place. But for a bright place to work, meet a pal to catch up, or get an excellent to-go cappuccino, full marks.

Great spot - small improvements would make it perfect. Starting with the negative, the music is way too loud and was just pop anyway; I could hear it clearly over my noise canceling earbuds. Also, I loved the larger tables, which are great for studying and groups, but some padded or furniture chairs would be great if I wanted to read. I understand you can’t have people using the space for too long to keep customers circulating, but I believe a better balance could be struck with the music and chairs.Otherwise, the coffee is great, and the employees are friendly. There is a nice mix of indoor and outdoor seating (with some covered).

The ambiance is nice. Very open and seems like a good place to get work done. That being said I was very unimpressed with their London Fog. It didn't taste right at all. Their Earl Grey tastes almost like chai and they don't have vanilla syrup. Their collection of syrups is very obscure as well.Maybe I'll give their coffee a try next time....

Update: Grey Squirrel is back in full force. Love this place. Ignore my last update, but they were closed for everrrr.Update: the early closure and no indoor seating has gotten really old. I can’t really enjoy this place anymore. Not sure about the “vibe” because the interior is closed, but I have absolutely no complaints about the drink I ordered. They call a Cortado “1:1” here. Will be a regular when I return for school in Fall. Update: I have now been living in Chapel Hill for a few months and I am still loving it. Finally bought some beans yesterday (Costa Rican) and I am enjoying them very much.

I’ve tried this place 6 or 7 times over the course of the past year and not once have they been able to make a half decent americano - watery, silty, burnt, etc, reminiscent of reheated day-old diner coffee. I want to like this place but just can’t. On the flip side, the space is nice and their payment system doesn’t prompt for egregious tips which is a rarity.

I had a nice cup of vanilla mocha with a piece of bread that was probably made in a bakery somewhere or maybe it was there. Don't really know. The staff of friendly and the bathrooms were clean as they can be. I'd say the coolest thing about the place is that they had a cool sitting area where you could charge your phone or whatever and sit and use your laptop or maybe even lay down if you wanted to. You'll see you as soon as you go into the place. Indoor and outdoor seating.Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs required to climb here

Friendly staff and really great coffee, locally roasted. The oat milk cappuccino was perfect and the short americano was deliciously rich and smooth with no burnt taste.
