The house was huge the price was right. Great location on the beach. We stayed in Poetry in Motion Oct 3-10th 2020. We. could not pay for early check in or late check out or to have the beds made due to covid cleaning regulations.Our first 2 mins in the house we were disgusted with the filthiness of this house. Dirt , mold, dust all around. Grease on the cabinets above the microwave you could write in. Lipstick still on the glassware and finger prints. The grate in the wall for the A/C was white but now black with dust. Cobwebs everywhere. Sand all over the floors. Broken Closet doors that were off their tracks. the fridge was broken inside, the back wall of it was coming off. the c ripper drawer was broken. the freezer had ice build up on the bottom of it.I couldn't find coffee pot for 2 hours of looking. finally found it under the kitchen sink. the glass pot had a hole in the bottom of it with shards of glass in it.I did call Hatteras and the woman who answered had someone bring us a new coffee pot and offered to have someone come clean. We refused the cleaning because they had from 10 am to 5 pm to clean as we could not do early check in or previous renter couldn't do late check out and we had just drove 16 hours to get there. Fact is .. it was not rental regular standard clean. Never mind COVID-19 regulations clean. When I emailed them the pictures of the filthy I never received and email back. No offer of money off the stay. We did not tip the cleaner needless to say.The bedding and trash was to be removed by us and put outside in bins before we left.They did not want the comforters or the mattress covers. Makes you wonder if those get washed?? I still wonder how they can say this house was cleaned to COVID regulations.Upon our return home I got an email from vacassa for a review. I then realized this must be the cleaning company . I was not even allowed to write more than 1 sentence for my review before it stopped me. Making me assume they really don't care what you have to say.Great Location had a lot of fun but the experience was enough to make me want to rent from someone else next time.I feel like we could have caught more than Covid in this house it was so dirty.Kendra DisilvaWest Ossipee NH

We arrived at the house and the floor around the bottom of the house were covered in assorted trash, beer bottles, and broken baby pools. When we were allowed to enter the house, the vacuums were left out *unused, pee all over the bathroom floors and toilets, couch completely covered in dog hair, trash and dirty dishes everywhere. It was clearly a simple mistake of the cleaning crew, and not immediately indicative of a bad rental company. Then came the interaction with the rental company. The lady we interacted with made promises that were never delivered upon. She told us if we wanted the house clean we could buy cleaning supplies (something along those lines) and then assured us they would reimburse for the supplies. That never happened and we spent our first beach day cleaning a 5 br house top to bottom. It was gross and we were all surprisingly underwhelmed with the lackluster response from the company representatives. We used twiddy this year and have been really happy with the service and cleanliness of the house from the get-go. I'd say if the house is with hatteras and says pet friendly, just avoid it in general. Honestly I just forgot to review last year, and that's why this is so late. I realize it is hard to make something right with such a delay in response, so dont worry about responding. It's just that after our experience with the other company and how great they've been, I had to go back and review. See pics, as they're telling.

It’s not often that we take time to write a review of this nature. We like to give credit when due, but often will hold our tongue for the negative – searching instead for the positive.This experience is new in the sense that we have been Hatteras Realty clients for ten years. Our family had no reason to doubt the beautiful images and description for Heliotrope that we saw on your website when we reserved our stay. However, the laundry list of major issues this house presented warrants this letter and a strong advisory to investigate, recognize, and address the situation. Also, we phoned the realty more than once to alert you of the problems.First, the things we fixed. The hose on ground level needed a new fitting. We took time to find a hardware store, drive and purchase the part, and fix the connection. The home had very low air circulation. When getting a broom from the downstairs closet, we noticed that the filter needed to be changed. The sink drain in the bathroom of the third-floor bedroom would not drain - we had to plunge it. It does not help that this sink is missing the stopper and there is a gaping hole waiting for valuables to disappear down. While mentioning the sewer, we all reached into the tank of the half bath toilet several times to stop the “running toilet.” Upon arrival, the living room entertainment center was completely disconnected. After an hour of trying to reconnect all components of the TV, we were able to relax. Speaking of television, we could not fix the monitor in the third level bedroom– it did not work at all. We tried, but the electrical hazard we found in the closet was enough to deter us. Especially when all three fire extinguishers were last inspected in 2010.Now for what we did not fix. It would have been relaxing to soak our bones in the Jacuzzi after all our repair work, unfortunately that didn’t work either – no jets. When that was reported, we were told that someone else fixes that but no one else showed. The sewer pipe that leaked on our vehicles was rather disgusting and unhealthy. It got increasingly worse, until we had to place a second call to have it repaired. Reading the water conservation signs all over the mirrors and watching that amount of water continuously pour from a faulty connection was just sad. After the repair, it would have been appropriate to pick up the toilet tissue left behind. It was an adventure trying to find good deck boards without stepping on a board that was not secure and lifted up near someone else. The popped nails were not a joy to find under foot either. Even the stair case leading from the third floor to the second floor deck was not very tight. Every window’s blinds were incomplete, missing enough components for the neighbors to peer inside – no privacy. The living room sliding door was impossible to open; it seized up completely. The toaster is broken. The kitchen counter top is improperly installed and leaks water from the sink if you’re not careful. We noticed the vent in the kitchen was so blocked with food and debris that the stench was unbearable. The living room lamp cord is taped around the plug in such a way as to be hazardous – we unplugged it and did without. The window in the bedroom with the fish bedding was broken. The first floor entrance has flooring that is separated and curled up as a tripping hazard.It was odd that there was not a binder that would have all the needed info about the house, as shown in the photos for the ad.Overall, the dated and ignored condition of this house is enough to make us think twice about trusting what we see on the internet and read in the future. I would not recommend this property to anyone else and am actually hard-pressed not to launch a formal complaint. Moving forward, we will be sure to consider all options and reevaluate our loyalty to Hatteras Realty.

Do not use this company. They’re a sell out and no longer a local company. It’s actually vacasa. They will steal from you.The website told me the total price was one thing but when I booked it, they charged me $200 more to my card with no explanation. When I called to get it taken care of the lady just told me that’s the price and without a screen shot she wouldn’t help me. I didn’t take a screen shot because I didn’t anticipate them stealing from me and once I booked the house, the listing was removed so I couldn’t go back and prove it. I feel like they should know the prices listed on their website? Also isn’t it illegal to charge random charges that aren’t agreed upon to a credit card? I mean I don’t go to the grocery store and buy something that says $10, then when they swipe my card and get my receipt it says $20.Anyway, I ended up canceling the trip because I was just going to rebook it once the house came back up and screen shot the price. The house never came back up so I called again. This person was very nice and tried to help but needed to get her manager’s approval. They told me they would call me right back but they ended up closing for the day without calling me back. When we called vacasa after hatteras’ hours they told us that someone else booked the house and there was nothing they could do at this point. So we lost the house completely because I wouldn’t let them steal $200 from me with no explanation.So morale of the story is that this company is terrible and has terrible business practices. Use a local company like Midget Realty or Surf or Sound instead. We have been going to the OBX for 10+ years and have never had any type of problem with them.

One of the best rentals we have ever stayed at. The place actually looked just like the pictures and was impressively clean. The company even left little hotel style shampoo, soap etc. I would have rated a five star, but they failed to fix the main bathroom, which we called to report was broken at check in. This meant everyone had to use the master bath, so those sleeping in that room didn't get any sleep. When reminded that they had never fixed it, we got "sorry", but didn't seem in any hurry to fix it still. Get reliable maintenance! You could be a real five star!!

Rented a house this past week from Hatteras Reality. House was incredibly dirty with old food crusted on table, dirt and grim on all the floors and fixtures, broken blinds & toilet and lastly a broken banister on the top floor balcony which was a hazard for the young children we had staying in the house.Extremely disappointed in quality of home and would not recommend renting from them.

Before booking through here, make sure you screenshot the final payment price. Vacasa (Hatteras realty) likes to throw in extra fees they can't explain. Had a random $200 charge added to the credit card. Couldn't get a break down of the invoice to see where it came from. No one we called was any help. If you are looking to book in the OBX go with Midgett realty. Vacasa (Hatteras realty) is a terrible west coast company who could care less about your OBX vacation.

2nd year renting the same house.We love the house however we arrived on Saturday to no AC on the main& upper floors made several attempts to get it taken care of.They gave us 1 cheap box fan to use.It was 89 degrees on main level.It was not until late Tuesday afternoon when a repairman appeared. That was after unrelenting calls from me.I also pointed out to the women I spoke to the repair guy told me he was there prior to our arrival,so they knew there's an issue.I also informed them water was leaking out of the house from 1 of the bathrooms.Not too concerned with the news.My boyfriend found the hot water under a bathroom sink was leaking & that's what wa dripping. HE turned that off.Letting Vacasa take over was a huge mistake.As much as we love the house & it's location we probably won't rebook with Hatteras Realty .

We had a great week in Island Dawn. Weather was fantastic for the first 6 days, then the wind came on Friday. This was a relentless, south to north wind that absolutely prevented any attempt at putting an umbrella up at the beach. Consequently, the beach was nearly empty when we gave up and left the beach at noon. With regard to Island Dawn, and probably all the other houses in Island Creek, the only downside, and now-a-days a big one, is that the included internet wifi reception is almost nonexistent. When we could connect we got speeds of a whopping 1 to 2 Mbs (sometimes less than 1 mbs). That has to improve for us to consider coming back next year.

Review of Cottages at the Cape, Buxton, North CarolinaMy family has been annually vacationing here for 7 years. During that time we have stayed in 5 different units or cottages.These units used to be quaint and pretty well maintained. However over the course of the 7 years we have noticed a decline in the maintenence and cleanliness. Our last vacation here will be our last.While we noticed over the last few years they are renting these units out more and more to long term residents which in itself is not necessarily a problem however there is a large group of these residents who pretty much have claimed this little village as their own. In the last few years we have noticed the residents letting their dogs run free off leash which is against the law, in many instances without the owners even present. At other times they stand in the middle of the street throwing frisbees and balls for their dogs to chase causing traffic to have to come to a stop to avoid hitting them. The ones that do walk their dogs on a leash make no effort to pick up after them once they defecate no matter who's yard the dog is in. These occurrences have been steadily on the rise over the years and this past visit was the worst.The residents also tend to leave their dogs out on the balcony to continually bark at whomever walks by.Then there's the cars. The units each have under the house parking for two vehicles parked behind each other with a parking lot located inside this village for extra cars. The residents instead choose to park their cars in either their yards beside their units or out in front of their units partially in the street or in the front or side yards of other units partially in the street because they don't want to be inconvenienced to walk. To put it mildly, the place looks rather trashy now.Now the inside of the units: The cleaning crew apparently does just the minimum. Furniture in our unit was not moved to vacuum evidenced by the piles of goldfish crackers we found under the chairs and behind the couch. The bathroom mirror downstairs had dried water streak and spatter print still on it from the last people who were there. I have no clue how this place passes inspections or if it is even inspected. As evidenced by my photos underneath the range hood was moldy and the vent looked as if it had never been cleaned. The air vents, especially the upstairs bedroom vents are thick with black mold. With the electrical outlets in the living room only the top outlet worked in each one and as can be seen in the photo one unit was broken. Varmint feces as can be seen in my photo were in the kitchen cabinets. After our stay upon packing to leave we found a box of our crackers had a corner chewed into. The carpets are dirty turning our feet dark brown and black in just one evening after walking on them barefoot and stained throughout with some pretty noticeable damage. The screens on the windows in the covered screened porch have some kind of dried white liquid on them, see photo.The only saving grace might have been the beach, specifically the Buxton public beach access point which is basically across the street. Over the 7 years we have been coming here we have noticed the beach erosion from the hurricanes with no effort to take steps to minimize or rebuild it. Our last visit the beach was in terrible condition. Metal pieces, metal rebar, cables, concrete chunks, wires, brick exposed and sticking out of the beach from when the Coast Guard had a station there decades ago. In some areas walking the beach barefoot without watching where you step could easily become a hospital visit.It's a shame. This place had such potential and went south fast. We will never be returning.

DO NOT rent from Vacasa or Hatteras Realty! It is an absolute racket. I called to make changes and/or a cancellation the day after I made my reservation. I was told to call Hatteras Realty because only they could assist me. When I called the number listed for Hatteras Realty, it forwards to Vacasa. I then reached out to Red Sky Trip Insurance who denied my claim. Due to my unforseen employment change I can't afford it, only paid the first half, and am now just out $500. The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced.

We loved the layout and location of the house, however it was quite dirty. We paid $235 for a cleaning fee and definitely did not get our money's worth. Blinds, fans, fixtures haven't been cleaned in quite some time. Very thick dust everywhere. There was a used jug of some sort and a coke bottle full of cigarette butts left on the deck. There were still food crumbs in the dining room chairs, paper bags left in one of the bedrooms, trash behind a bathroom toilet. Very minimal cleaning and I'm sure the house was not disinfected for Covid if very simple things weren't clean. This particular house, Sign of the Fish is basically listed as "luxurious" and it's anything but. The furnishings and bathrooms are very outdated. We enjoyed our stay, mostly because of location and views. The hot tub was nice and worked well and the kitchen was tremendously stocked. Definitely suggest a better cleaning crew and maybe lower the price until updates are made.

We rented Carolina Sun in Avon from 08/22-8/29. We come yearly to OBX and this was the worst stay we've ever had. I had to email for the code which we didn't get till after 6pm. After a 14 hour drive, we had to spend 2 hrs cleaning the house; whole house was filthy (tooth brush left in shower, hair on bathroom floors and bed, bedding left in washer, dust, bugs, living room recliners were broken, dinner room chairs had food particles stuck to it, finger prints on glass dining room table, mold around vents, the list goes on). House was attempted to be remodled but poorly done. Kitchen poorly stocked. Pool ladders were unsecured and coming out of the cement. My daughter ended up falling trying to get out of the pool due to the loose railing and skinned up her leg. We think the pool had not been cleaned properly. Could not detect any smell of chlorine, water seemed to have a weird metallic smell, and 4 out of 6 of our guests developed a skin rash. I did contact the management company and was told our cleaning fee would be refunded, but we will see if we receive. The only good thing about the house was the location, view of the ocean, and short walk to the beach.

We had a wonderful time, loved being on the sound. Had fun fishing from the dock. Love the area. House was good, comfortable. Loved the view. Kayaks were a great surprise.Knowing it is pet friendly I was still surprised how stained the carpet is in the living area. Spoke with maintenance about leaking dishwasher and third floor bathroom toilet. No maintenance performed- it was annoying as we were always wiping up water in these areas. Had to hand wash a lot of dishes, utensils before using as they were stuck with food (upon our first use). Threw one glass away as it was cracked/broken. Plastic drawer in refrigerator badly cracked.I would highly recommend new skillets. The large one is totally scraped up. Ceiling fans in bedrooms were very thick with dust. Some lamps with light bulbs did not work.Wish we could have eaten outside on top deck. A picnic table would be a great asset.Met some wonderful neighbors!Thank you,Michelle Brown

We rented Sandpiper which was oceanfront. It's a cozy house which was perfect size for us. We loved the view from the observation deck. There were a couple minor things that could have been better. The living room sofa and chair definitely need a cleaning or an upgrade. And, the walkway to the beach was was blocked off with hazard tape and looked pretty beat up. Luckily, there was another walkway nearby which we used. Our dog loved the access to the beach as well. All in all, it was a great place to stay. The weather for our week was the best we have EVER had. We have been visiting Avon for almost 20 years and we could not have had a better week. Thanks!

We arrived to a well kept clean condo with an amazing view. This is our 5th year to the OBX and the best view and best condition with keeping updated and maintained. I really can’t see anything to improve our stay. The complex is quiet and has an amazing pool open until 5pm. It is smaller but well maintained with shower area. Josh was a very responsive owner truly professional and wanting feedback on ways to improve our stay. Thanks Josh! You have a treasure here at Robyns nest and we will love to return someday!

We rented Island Paradise in Avon through Hatteras Realty for four nights last week. We got there to check in at the house and noticed immediately that the smell was awful, inside and out. The house was dirty and the mattress covers and pillow covers looked like they hadn’t been washed in ten years. There were stains all over them. The description said “upscale resort furnishings”. Most of the doors to the exterior decks wouldn’t lock and the house definitely didn’t look like the pictures online. We drove back home that night after checking for alternative rentals online and not finding anything available. We received a call the next day from someone at the Hatteras Realty office and she that we should have called their emergency after hours number. I explained that there was nothing they could do at 5:30 pm about the smell, all of the stained beds, and the condition of the entire house. We paid over $7,000 for four nights and didn’t stay one night. They were not willing to refund any of this back to us. There description and what we were charged for a house in this condition is unacceptable. We shouldn’t have to call and tell them to come inspect the cleanliness of the house. Now we know why it was the only house available. We will not be renting another house through this company.

We have rented from Hatteras 6/7 times over the past 10 years. Most of the time it's been ok. It was never unpleasant enough to not make us never use them again , that all changed this year. First I would like to say there were 2 women that were truly superstars and could not have been more helpful. Kathy and Jeannie , and the people dispatched to the home we rented to take care of most of the things that were wrong were also very , very nice. That's where it stops.It has been nearly a month of calling to get some resolution to our situation and NO ONE has bothered to return my call(s) even after a very detailed messages ( figured they could take time to listen to what happened and have all the details before they called me back) A woman named Dawn left me a message while still on vacation , I called her back and left a message and then a woman named Holly called me , I have been calling her while we were still there and since we have been home , nothing.I understand times are very different with COVID-19 and businesses are busier than usual, there is no excuse not to call someone back for nearly a month .Please keep in mind we were asked to not bother to try to check in until after 5:00 to give them a chance to clean and prepare ( no problem) we got to our house at around 6:40 PM. This is what we found: Inside furniture outside the house, dirty towels from prior guests hanging on the front deck of the house, candle wax from the floor above that had dripped onto the main deck , the pool filled with sand , the hot tub also filled with sand ( I understand it's the beach , this happens , it shouldn't be like that on the first day ) the hot tub also had a FORK IN IT , yup a fork. Broken deck chairs ,trash in the pool area ,not one working outlet outside , downstairs. Once we got inside there were 2 crates of soiled linens in the entryway.Now we wondered if the house had been cleaned at all. 2 of the bathrooms had no lights in the shower.The shower curtain liner in the master bathroom was filthy/ moldy . Crumbs on the kitchen counter ,tubs and toilets that could not have been cleaned because you could see the dirt on the towels we used to scrub them , Living room furniture was dirty , missing fitted sheets from linens, Item left in washer, dirty mattress cover, blankets that had hair on them , air filters hadn't been changed in who knows how long , filthy with dust ( not the best time to have poor air quality) The living room fan popped and sparks rained down when you turned it on. The table in the screen porch area was covered in sand and there was slippery candle wax on the deck ,right outside the door. A band aid covered an outlet on the kitchen island.We spent the night , bleaching , scrubbing cleaning , washing dishes, vacuuming and doing laundry just so we would feel "safe" sleeping in the house after having driven for 9 hours.Who knew if it was partially clean or not clean , didn't smell clean that's for sure.There were screens and air conditioners left on the stairs going down to the "game room" which was so gross you really couldn't use it anyway. They came to clean the pool and hot tub the next day and sent maintenance people to fix some of the other things . They dropped off the right fitted sheet ( I understand how the wrong one could wind up in there, there's a million white sheets being laundered , bound to happen)They dropped off a shower curtain liner so I could replace the gross one.It is not as if I am looking for a refund on my entire vacation we did lose time to cleaning and calling and trying to find resolution, not to mention having to worry about was this house clean? are we going to get sick? It was very , very stressful and I'd really think twice about using this rental company.

Our stay at the OBX DAYZ provided us with an outstanding vacation. The house met all our needs and more. The location was excellent and the pool was outstanding and enjoyedby all. In addition, this home had one of the best stocked kitchens of any that we have stayed in the Outer Banks. We would not hesitate to recommend this home to any of our friends and family. Thanks again for a great vacation.

We stayed at Studio 54. Amazing house. Improvements could be deck restore or something for the deck so it wasn’t so unfinished and rough. Some kind of railing on the dock to make you feel more secure. Screened in porch would be great, there are massive mosquitoes. Amazing house overall 10 out of 10. Love the single level so very much. Love the house so very much, best place we’ve ever stayed. Amazing that it has two full bathrooms. Only could be better if it was pet friendly.

Would be nice if they posted actual and current reviews of homes they rent out. We used this company years ago and they were top notch as well as the homes in their rental program. Boy have they gone down hill since becoming Vacasa. It has become increasingly obvious that it is all about profit for them as well as many of the owners.Upkeep and updating would be nice with some of the over the top rental rates for some of these homes. The home we just rented looked like it had not been updated in twenty years and had broken screens as well as leaking ceilings and broken appliances. Garbage strewn under the house. Totally unacceptable for the rental rates they are charging. Will not use this company again

Rented Pirates Light #73 B in Buxton this past week, actually left 2 days early, the house was not only nothing at all as shown online, inside or out.. We actually thought we were at the wrong house. It was disgustingly filthy & smelled terrible. It had electrical issues inside & out. Lights came on in hall a few times by themselves. The lady I spoke with admitted that there was electrical work that had been done, it obviously was left unfinished! Outlets were left hanging, smoke detectors left laying on tables, one with no battery. Painting left undone inside, had to spend several hours cleaning. We couldn't sleep due to the awful beds & smell. The lighting inside was awful, no lighting outside coming up & down steps, very little lighting on deck due to light fixtures being full of gunk & mold, there was mold all over decks, looked new on the pictures, mold inside, dirty old furniture, beds falling apart in the one room. Chairs on deck broken, causing my sister to fall off. The worst experience anywhere ever! I'm certain my dog was in a more comfortable place & definitely cleaner, in the Kennel she was boarding in. This place does not need to be rented as it is. It is so very misleading! I made Hatteras aware of this and sent them pictures, all I got was "we will refund your cleaning fee" ... this was way beyond a cleaning fee. I literally feel like I just flushed $1500.00 . You DO NOT want to rent this house! I found someone that knows the owners and will be contacting them, as I'm not sure they are aware of the condition of this house.

We were so excited to finally make it to OBX after being turned away due to Covid and then missing 2.5 days due to Hurricane Isaias. However, the home we rented was dated, dirty and in a neighborhood that looked like time forgot. The home lacked any type of charm, decor, warmth or attention. There is a run down and rusted playground in the center of a bunch of homes also lacking any type of landscaping or upkeep. The basketball net was ripped off and the court basically overgrown and uncared for. Inside, the house smelled musty and needed an overall cleaning which I proceeded to do as it was not up to any standard; especially now when cleanliness is paramount. Our house had the previous renters used blankets thrown on the floor and left for us to move. Bathroom floors had hair, sand and other refuse. Kitchen cabinets were old, smelled like must and contained pots and pans from what appeared to be decades ago. The furniture was akin to outside patio furniture, again, lacking any comfort or cozy qualities. On two of our nights, we had to kill cockroaches in the dining area that were over an inch in size. Had any of this been indicated in the pictures or the description provided by Hatteras Realty, or had the price not been so exorbitant, I would be more forgiving, but that is not the case. We were refunded $119 of the cleaning costs, after I emailed Hatteras and reminded them of their promise to do so. That being said, $119 refund is simply not enough. We will not rent fromHatteras again. We have been vacationing and renting homes in OBX for over 30 years- and this by far was our most disappointing experience.

What could have been an excellent experience has been completely ruined by the terrible property management at Bay Breeze.After checking in we were told there might be an issue with the pool, which we found out had not been serviced since the fall, and was currently broken. This is a serious issue since the sole purpose if the trip was to celebrate my nephews 3rd birthday with a pool themed party. We contacted Hatteras Realty immediately and were met with silence. After calling the emergency number (and leaving a message) we realized no one was going to help us that day and settled in, while firing up the hot tub. Bad news: also broken. Great start.The following day we tried again to no avail, finally calling the emergency line from an out of state number, which was immediately picked up. We were told since it was a holiday weekend it would be difficult to get anyone to help us and to wait for Tuesday. We convinced them to send someone on Monday, but they were unable to fix either the pool or the hot tub. Meanwhile we found out that they knew the pool had issues before they rented it to us, yet did not disclose this to us at the time if rental, yikes.The 5 children under the age of 6 are doing their best to stay entertained, but with kids splashing ans laughing in pools on either side of us, it's pretty hard to explain why they have to stay out of the water. The holiday weekend is over and still no one will give a time table or even express contrition. Can't even get anyone on the phone.

Unfortunately, I must agree with previous reviews. The involvement of Vacasa in this company has been horrible for customer service and cost.Our vacation home was cancelled with four weeks' notice via email- how professional! The company sent truly substandard offerings for a replacement home that did not accommodate our number of guests. Upon calling to better understand why our home was cancelled and what could be done to remedy the situation, the team did not express a modicum of care for our situation. Perhaps their customer service training materials were washed away in a hurricane...We ultimately rebooked another more expensive home in order to host everyone in our party comfortably. I believe there is still one realty company in OBX that hasn't been absorbed by Vacasa, so we'll prioritize them for our bookings next year.

Been booking rental houses in Hatteras for many years, and had an issue today with a reservationists at Hatteras Realty, Lisa. One of most unprofessional experiences I have ever had with customer service. Told me that I could go to another realty company over a $3 change is price for a house. I understand there are policies, but you do not have to be rude about it when you looking at spending all this money anyways. I will be taking my business to one of the other realty companies on Hatteras Island from now on and will recommend my friends and family do the same.

Staying at Play n hooky at Avon. The house should be condemned. Rusty rails sticking out all over the place. Loose and exposed wiring. Window sills falling out. Loose and rotted deck planks. Sink fixtures falling off. Many advertised amenities do not work - hot tub does not hold water, ice maker broken, multiple lights don’t work - we replaced multiple light bulbs. We also had to fill the pool with water - even after pool maintenance was here. The house has been ignored and should no be rent. It is no safe. Hatteras Reality told us to write a letter. We are reporting the property to the Dare County Building Inspector.

Hey Hatteras Realty; what the hell has happened to your business? It's shameful the way you are managing your vacation rentals. We all pay good money to come stay on the island, and you should be going above and beyond to accommodate your guest. Instead the housekeeping as well as maintenance does absolutely nothing before guest arrive (besides set out their tip envelope). We cleaned the house for hours after we checked in. I don't think the floors had been mopped in years. So much for taking all the extra precautions for Covid. More false advertising on your website. I feel sorry for the homeowners who are trusting you to take care of their property. I could go on and on, but my recommendation is for people to look at a different rental company if they want to visit the island. We will be steering clear of any houses offered by Hatteras Realty.

We're supposed to get a digital check in code at 5 pm on check in day. Didn't get it till 5:40. Tried calling multiple times and got no response. Got to the house and the front door is wide open. Garbage overflowing the trashcans, which were left at the road and never brought in. Floors not swept, kitchen table not cleaned and the hot tub didn't work. We called again multiple times and no one would answer the phones. Finally got a hold of a switchboard operator by calling the emergency number. We finally received an email back (no call) telling us they would be out the next day (Sunday) to fix the hot tub. They came Tuesday. Sunday morning we woke up to find company in the home in the form of multiple cockroaches. Same song and dance, multiple calls, no answers, no call backs. Called emergency number and left another message with the switchboard. Again, no call back, just an email stating they would be out the next day. They never came. Not for the entire rest of the week. An all around awful guest experience. Zero accountability, zero customer service. It appears as if they are not cleaning the houses fully and just doing the absolute minimum so they can make money during this time of crisis. Quite sickening and they have lost my business for ever. We stayed at Sound Decision this past week.
