Stopped in this store for a cpl frozen rats....I have a snake. Friendly knowledgeable staff the store was clean & everything in it's place. The prices were good not too expensive. I wud shop here again for sure

We purchased a fish, a fish tank, and all food and accessories at this Petco for our daughter’s 5th birthday. 2 days later the lights on the fish tank stopped working. We called petco and let them know about the defective tank. They apologized and assured us that if we brought back the top of the tank (that houses the defective light) and our receipt within 30 days of purchase they would replace the tank. When we returned to petco with the top of the tank, as instructed, we were told they could not replace it without the entire tank. The lady at the register was rude and not helpful. This was very disappointing considering we called ahead of time to make sure we were bringing back the required items, we traveled 30+ minutes to the store, and were met with an employee who did not display any customer service. We are disappointed and our daughter is disappointed that her brand new fish tank doesn’t work. I’m not sure if we will be returning customers here. They do not do the right thing and are not willing to help when something goes wrong. Buyer beware!

I bought 4 fan tail fish.. they had fin rot, lost one but they made it right by right by giving me a new fan tail fish. I treated the entire tank and so far the 3 remaining fish with fin rot seem to be doing better. Please take better care of your fish Petco

Groomers were Horribly unprofessional in appearance and behavior ! Booked our dogs first grooming appointment and they had not read the notes specifically given to them during the booking about this being her first visit and how she had anxiety around new faces -then threatened to ban our puppy if she was too anxious - after 5 secs of interaction with her . THEN refused to groom her that day .After leaving we called back to get clarification on the information mixup and the girl was very rude and highly unprofessional and not even offering to help usVery disappointed will not go back

After booking online, groomer calls and informs us that she can’t groom at that time asking to change time. We agreed. She then calls and offers another day/time. We agreed again. Both times asked to ensure we have our pets vaccination records, even a picture will suffice.We drive to this Petco location and are barely greeted. Confirming our pets name, the employee asked for pet records and before even looking at them, declines the acceptance. I explained these official records are accepted worldwide for our pet who travels with us everywhere including our own US department of Agriculture and borders (pet was vaccinated outside of US with certified and accepted US credentials- translated in English). Employee checked with manager who didn’t meet with us. Both continued to claim PetCo policy which is obviously not in line with Department of Agriculture and borders. The attitude was offensive and no dialog was possible. Happy to discuss further but will not support such discriminatory behavior at PetCo …

The attendant was rude. He waved me to the register, did not make eye contact, did ask about my number, did not offer to put it in, I had to wait due to no one at the registers, no apologies for not being there, he was slurping on his drink, no name tag, no offer of a bag, he was sloppy… name on receipt was Dylan. I will no longer shop at this Petco. I will shop at other pet stores for supplies. The service has been getting worse each time I visit and this was the end. Asheville # 02532

Upon arrival, I explained to the associate (James) that the item I purchased (standard Litter Genie refill) was very difficult to find anywhere. I was only able to purchase 1 via the Petco app at this store and no other store in the area had the item at all. Could not find the item through other vendors in a 50 mile radius and also not available through Amazon. James took the time to check the computer and saw that he was able to place an order for some to be shipped to my home and those items were in stock at the main warehouse (I guess that's how it works). We discussed ordering several since it appears they may be discontinuing (?) or just hard to find. He also mentioned upgrading to the newer model of Litter Genie and to come and see him when I was ready and he would assist with that process. James was so very helpful and for sure went above and beyond just giving me my pick up order. Thank you so, so much!!!!!

I can’t say enough wonderful things about PetCo on Merrimon Ave. I’m actually jealous when we bring our doodle in for grooming for the way she runs straight to Laura, her groomer 😂 I’m so thankful we found PetCo and Laura, Georgia loves her ❤️ If you’re looking for someone who will pamper your pup, this the place to go!

I've been taking my very anxious border collie mix there for years (she's now 12) and the groomers are always so wonderful with her. She comes out always beautiful and very confident and calm. They are also really great about answering any questions that I have about grooming/upkeep at home. Pricing is really great and fair.

This is the only place we take our dog for grooming. She is pampered and loves coming, and she also smells, feels, and looks wonderful afterward. All of the staff have been top tier, including Laura, Kim, Jacob, and Montana. They genuinely love your pet, and your pet will thank you for choosing this team. They truly are a team and you can tell!

The first few grooming appointments were great. Then, our appointment was canceled and rescheduled without calling us. The appointment was rescheduled to a day that did not work. That is so unprofessional! This is not a way to keep clients.

The grooming salon and its staff are fantastic! Our dog had a bad experience at another groomer and was scared to death to get groomed. Laura and her team worked patiently on every visit to get him comfortable again. They performed a miracle. He went from shaking and drooling with anxiety to happy and tail wagging to visit Laura and get groomed. I couldn't ask for a more compassionate experience for my fuzzy buddy.

Laura and Kim are the safest, kindest groomers you will ever meet. They have years upon years of experience and provide a safe loving environment for all their grooming clients! Asheville, be nice to these groomers because there aren't many out there that care as much as these two do! ❤️

These folks saved my bacon yet again. Knowing that my dog is a long time shopper at our local Petco a friend of mine who so loves our pup gave us a Gift Card for Claire. Her birthday and my own left our home a bit chaotic and I had not idea where the thing was. Dillon, the store manager stepped right in to save the day. He was very busy but took the time to take down our information and said he would do all in his power to come up with a way. He later called my husband and true to his word, he resolved the situation in a very customer centric manner and saved the day. Ike, also a complete asset to this store. We've been shopping at this store since Claire was a baby. We will always be shopping here. They are nice folks and always ready to suggest or help in any way they can. Thanks so much Dillon. You saved the day. Ike, you are a jewel and such a nice young woman. We'll be back. If I still owned my business, I'd try to spirit you both away. Laura, the grooming Manager, is ameowzing with our rescue kitties. Kim, who is also a certified cat groomer, is also wonderful. We are very lucky that we have 2 groomers to help us that care so much about their clients. Our kitties could not be in better hands than Laura & Kim. You should give them a try!

Our sweet boy got groomed here yesterday, and they were so sweet with him. They even acknowledged his birthday and gave him an extra treat. They also do an amazing job grooming and really know their stuff. Highly recommend trying them.

Thank you, Laura and Petco groomers, for doing such wonderful grooming on our rescue cats. Especially the girl who was so matted that the mats were pulling her skin and causing so much pain. You changed her life and she was adopted. Her family brings her back to you for grooming. The cats only days are so important for cats who are dog reactive.If you want your dog or cat professionally groomed, take them to Petco on Merrimon for a great experience.Garnell Jackson

Edit love how an "owner" responded. They obviously did not read the post. Oh and right after I posted a real review, they magically get a huge amount of 5star reviews, all posted 2 weeks ago! Until then the rating wasn't that high...Most are from friends of the manager and employees haha... you know your wrong when you do that to boost ratings. Fyi randomly picking and choosing prices on how the front feels at that moment doesnt sound like an actual buisness practice. Neither does charging the same for totally different services. The customer service is abhorrent on top of everything. Like i said, asking questions on prices gets you banned, they ban your account from booking online so they can charge double what their posted prices are for the breed and size and you have no way to check and call them out on it. LolPetco itself can be good for supplies but stay away from this locations grooming department. They advertise grooming online for 1 price and when you drop your pup off and pick up its totally different. When asked why they'll tell you "breed, size, coat, temperment". Its determined by what they believe it should be rather then what is is. They can price change in their systems so its easy for them to do. my dog is a 20lb Bernedoodle with wavy hair and has been groomed for every2 weeks for 3yrs (since a puppy) for her FOR JUST A BATH should equal $88, according to the front and manager. Oh and a full groom is also $88 (maybe more if they feel like it). Online booking for a dog 3xs mines size at this location is $42 bath $12 nails and $6 service fee (the tip fee). The cashier also gets bonuses for upselling the services... she's lied a few times promising nail buffing and other add-ons is included... when it's not... then they charge a further $13 for the nailbuff or teeth brush. If you get upset and question shell threaten with cops. It's amazing the gouging they'll do. They also ban accounts (they did this before the last 2 incidents) so you cannot see the actual price while booking online and you HAVE TO book in store so they can charge what they want. Serious issues . None of their services or quality is better then petsmart or a privet groomer... save yourselves the hassle.

Refused to groom my dog due to a diagnosis that is not communicable and she’s in remission. Would have been nice to screen prior to the appointment. Would also be nice if medical professionals made these decisions since her vet okayed the grooming. Will be switching our bimonthly food and treat delivery to a more welcoming business.

We had a wonderful experience looking for a reptile. The reptile lady even showed us some frogs and she gave very detailed care instructions, equipment suggestions, and helped us decide which frog would be the best for us.

Scheduled my dog's annual rabies shot with Vetco within Petco. They were very kind in the handling of my dog. I received receipt of summary of services within 10 minutes or so.Going in, It was my understanding the shot was $25. It's actually $30 plus another $5.99 for the discarding of needle.I would recommend them.
