This motel is under construction and the rooms need a lot more work. There was mold all over the shower, no water pressure, no light in the shower, and the mattress was so old and so sunken in that my husband ended up sleeping on the floor. The twin futon (I booked for three people) was not a futon nor a twin. It was hard as a rock and had a metal bar in the middle. We barely slept at all. It really was awful. And while it might look cheap with all the fees it still cost me 300 dollars for two nights (no breakfast). Unacceptable. That said, the location is incredible!

The owners are wonderful! They were so welcoming and accommodating. They really care about their guests and take the time to chat and make recommendations. They have many repeat guests and it’s easy to see why. Our room was very clean and comfortable. It had a small fridge, microwave, AC and plenty of plush towels. They are pet friendly and shower them with kindness too. The continental breakfast (included in stay) had so many options. We will definitely be back. My little one told Al and Alicia they were “unforgettable” and they really are.

My buddy and I stayed here during a snowboarding trip to Whiteface Mountain. Check-in was very easy, the lady at the desk was extremely nice, called us by our names, took us over to the room and showed us around to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Location was great, 6 minutes from Whiteface Mountain, 15 from Lake Placid. Gas station right nearby if needed. The room was simple, but charming and clean. No smells, bugs, or anything unwanted. Bed was comfortable, and the cabin-style design was cozy. Shower had hot water. Safe location, economically priced, and clean, will return next year!Rooms: Clean, safe, simple.Nearby activities: Skiing, hiking, and shopping galore.Safety: Safe, comfortable town and Lodge.Food & drinks: Good food nearby in Wilmington and Lake Placid.Noteworthy details: Lady at the desk was one of the nicest hotel workers I've ever encountered

Amazing hospitality. Warm welcome by the host Al made me feel at home. Cozy, clean, well maintained room. The gift shop is nicely decorated and personalized .. Free breakfast .. hot coffee served all day long. Unbeatable location of the motel .. breathtaking views of White Face mountain and the west branch of the Ausible river. Moreover, Al & Alicia - you are the very reason to revisit the little hamlet Wilmington .. love and peace until we meet again..

We spent the new year here with our two dogs and had a great time! The rooms were clean and cozy, the property was well cared for, and we enjoyed the coffee and breakfast. Al is a wonderful host and we would absolutely stay at the Mountain Brook Lodge again. Thank you for being so sweet to our pups. Hoping to make it back there this summer!

Great price.Staff was greatNo frills - but, you get what you pay for.Room was clean, warm and had plenty of hot water. If your simply looking for an inexpensive place to sleep for a couple days while skiing Whiteface this is a bargain.Only negative was a chemical smell in room, I suspect it was to possibly cover previous smoker in room.

On one hand, Al and Alicia are fantastic hosts! the rooms are classic 1950s with pink bath tiles and rustic wood paneling in the room. The breakfast that's included with the room is OK. There's tons of stuff to do nearby and Al is always available to help you sort it out.On the other hand, Al greeted us and enthusiastically raved about how he had upgraded our room. We reserved a room with a queen sized bed and he "upgraded" us to a room with 2 full sized beds. We reserved a room with a queen sized bed because that's what we wanted. It must have worked out better for him to "upgrade" us.I'd still recommend the place but suggest you check your reservation carefully to make sure you're getting what you reserved.

My fiancee and I stayed here August of 2016 and the place was amazing. It was like staying a tiny cabin, and we loved it. Everything was clean and the room was well appointed. It's great for families with little kids. The owner Al is an amazing guy and I can't recommend the place enough.

Recently stayed here with my mother and my 2 young children (4 year old and infant). Al, the owner, was very welcoming and accommodating. Made the stay special for the kids. Nice pool and breakfast. Stayed there overnight and went to Santa’s Workshop, which is less than 5 minutes up the road. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks Al!

I cannot even begin to heap enough praise on this establishment. Al is the most personable host that you will ever encounter. A retired Marine who is the epitome of being a people person. Warm cozy rooms...Instant on hit water. Nice breakfast.....feels like you are at home. Veteran and first responder friendly. Great place for families.

A cute and cozy get away. Becky was on duty as manager while my husband and I stayed there. Room was comfortable. Nice breakfast set up in the am. Becky always had a wonderful tip, idea, directions on what would make our stay better. She went above and beyond to make us feel at home. We will definitely be going back to this lodge. Beautiful views from the yard and parking lot. Great prices on rooms. Just an all around great place. :)

This is the second year we have stayed at Mountain Brook Lodge. The owners are so welcoming, they go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. The rooms are spotless. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating. The area is beautiful, esp in the fall. Mountains with crystal clear lakes and rivers. Al is very knowledgeable about the area and will give very good advice about things to do. We love it at Mountain Brook Lodge!

You get what you pay for. Chose cheaper accommodations to save $$ and since this was a last-minute trip.Lisa was the woman who checked me in. Super friendly and walked me to my room to check it out. Even checked me in early. Outstanding service!Rooms are definitely something from the 80s which I knew from the pics before arriving. Room was very clean, coffee maker, water, popcorn in room and window AC unit was nice.Reason for 3 stars is the quality of the rooms. I occasionally saw ants crawling across the floor throughout my stay. Who knows what was down there after the lights went out. The bed mattress was also a little too worn. There was a noticeable “indentation” on either side but I slept in the middle so no issue. The shower was the biggest problem I had during my stay. Standup shower that was more than obviously tilted in the far direction. I imagine they’re having some kind of foundational problems. There were a few holes punched in the shower floor to drain the water but the water itself was adjusted so it was barely trickling out. (think the mister on a slip-n-slide) Extremely difficult to use.Again, outstanding service all-around but the building / room itself needs some updating to create the great experience they seem to be working hard to create for their customers.

We have stayed with Al & Alicia many times with awesome service. Great advice on local attractions, restaurants and directions. Super clean rooms - many updated with new TVs, mattresses. Great breakfast. Campfire every night. I have stayed elsewhere in Wilmington and prefer Mountain Brook Lodge. They even give discounts to service men and women. We cannot say enough good things. Definitely plan on staying here again whenever we can come back! Clean rooms, friendly and warm atmosphere, yummy breakfast choices! Al (the owner), Lisa, bam bam & hooch (the dogs) made you feel more like friends than just guests and treated everyone like they’ve known them forever! It was nice! Besides.. who doesn’t love someone/place who is a strong supporter of our armed forces!

Met Al & Alicia yesterday when checking in yesterday (both awesome people, you learn this right away). The place has lots of character and you feel the love put into it. I love the nice touch with breakfast (in addition to normal things like bread and fruit): Nutella, Pop Tarts, Bear Paws, and other pastries. Very personable owners who make you feel extremely welcome.

Originally I chose to stay at Mountain Brook Lodge because I wanted my dog to come along, and this is only one of two places you can do that in the area. I later decided not to bring the pup but I kept the reservation for the same place – and am I ever glad I did. Al and Alicia are two of the nicest people you could know, and they make tremendous hosts by making sure you have everything you need to be comfortable. I had spent the afternoon hiking Esther and Whiteface so by the time I got to checking in, I was dirty, sweaty, and ready for a hot shower. Al gave me the biggest smile and told me “Use as much hot water as you want, because I’m paying for it and you’re going to be glad you did.” The room was cozy, cool, and welcoming. I really enjoyed having coffee outside with Al and his official Marine Corps dog BamBam the next morning. I’m already looking forward to when I can return for another set of mountains and a nice evening at Mountain Brook Lodge!

I had reservations for two nights that I made with Al the owner three months in advance. I confirmed my reservations a week prior to arrival. When I arrived to the hotel the office was closed, it was only 7:30pm. I called the office and Al answered, he told me he sold the room to other guests. He said it was an honest mistake. Hotel rooms were all booked up all around Lake Placid and further out. I finally found a room closer to Lake Placid but for more money. Al called me back telling me he found a room in another hotel and he will pay for it. I told him I found one pay for that one. He asked how much and refused. REALLY!

Best Kept Secret in Lake Placid. Al treats you like family. Rooms are clean, quiet, quaint, and have memory foam mattresses. Fire pit for night caps and relaxing. 10 miles from downtown Lake Placid. This September was out first visit and will now be a yearly tradition.
