First time visiting and eating here. Surprisingly, we were able to get a table. They had a good selection of beer and the food! Wow! The smoked meats were so delicious. We ordered the 1/2 rib, quesidilla platter. It was enough tonshare with 2 people, but i wish that i had more ribs. I can't wait to go back! It will make a nice destination dinner trip from east greenbush. They have an indoor and outdoor area to eat. Plus, in the winter they can close the 3 large garage doors and enclose the indoor area completely. We will definitely go back!

Southern BBQ is difficult to replicate and rarely translates well in the North East, but Northern Barrell is a breath of fresh air. The atmosphereIs friendly, the open air bar gave off a cookout vibe, and the kitchen's smoker was in plain sight.I was lucky enough to know the chef, and he gave me the grand tour. What stood out the most was the kitchen's indoor smoker. It takes a skilled chef to master slow cook or smoke pig parts. Precision in thus context created absolute perfection:The jalapeño rail spikes were bullets of flavor; loaded with sweet pulled pork,wrapped in a savory crispy bacon jacket,spinning a spicy chamber of a classic pairing of slight chard, bitter pepper and pork. It was like a playing Russian roulette with my tongue. The cheese stuffed inside tempered the heat really well.The 2nd course was thier Pulled Brisket Pile.In true southern fashion, smoked brisket tender enough to cut with a plastic spoon. To separate the meat with my fingers felt as satisfying as peeling off a mozzarella stick; smooth, clear striated line, and moist.I'd would love to see ribs on thier menu, and maybe a few mustard and vinegar based sauces. But overall, Northern Barrell created a nice blend of Memphis and North Carolina style BBQ. As someone who was born and raised in the belt buckle of the Bible belt, Northern Barrell does Pork better than any other Faux-BBQ joint in NY's capital region.

Amazing spot!!Came here on a Friday night and no issues getting a table.The service is great! Welcoming and helpful!I had the Nashville hot chicken sandwich! It was huge!!! Juicy and full of flavor.Came with tasty fries too.Wife had the cheeseburger and that was also delicious and juicy!We shared the baked Mac and cheese dish! And took some home! (Couldn’t finish it all)It was delicious!! Can’t say enough!The drinks were great too! The train deck and also the margarita!Overall great experience!! Will definitely come back!

Service was awful. Got us a table sat their forever before someone came and took drink and appetizer order. Took forever for drinks and appetizer to cone to us. Also ifvyou order the Nachos don't pay the extra for the beef or chicken not worth the skimpy amount. Also no napkins. We asked for check and left without ordering main meal for we were depressed just on the drinks and appetizer ordering. Won't go back for a long time if we do go back.

Just came from the restaurant . The beer is always good . We've eaten here and have always been pleased .. Tonight we both ordered slaw and cheeseburgers , medium rare. They got it all wrong . We got 2 well done burgers and french fries. When. i returned. the burgers , the chef said he doesnt cook to the temperature and would not cook a burger to my satisfaction . I returned it and while there ordered a meal to go from another restaurant forrpickup . Also most of the menu is fried now . Very disappointed

I've tried and tried again to like these guys. With the 4th head chef at this establishment since it opened, the food is mediocre, but tonight it was really bad. I ordered chicken tenders. They were burnt, way too salty, and super dry. The burgers I've had previously are mediocre on a good day. With three new restaurants coming to voorheesville in 2024, the owners need to seriously consider how they're going to make it serving bad food with an inconsistent menu. The owner told me to "come back because everyone has bad days." Yeah ok I get it, but bad days for weeks in a row? Time to move on. The only reason I kept coming as long as I did was because we liked the staff and it was 5 minutes from home. After tonight we're done. It's a shame.

Road bikes on the rail trail and then got some food and a beer with my son, a friend and her son today. Loved the Bavarian pretzel, the hummus plate (with lots of yummy pickled things and toasted pita), and devlish eggs. The boys’ chicken tenders and fries were great too. Loved it all. There was a fun football crowd. The boys played a board game while adults got to chat. Awesome place.

northern barrell is an excellent fun atmosphere to have a drink and app at the end of the day.the bar tenders are also the owners! the quality and care they have for their customers is amazing. Its great having a local brewery in voorheseville where options are limited and has live music and an open mic night this brewery is an easy 10/10 i will be back.p.s its pet friendly

This place has so much potential. Limited menu has pluses and minuses. If a place serves beer, they should also have a burger choice, which they did not have when we visited. Add a couple of burgers (maybe a build your own burger) and it'll greatly improve the desirability. Thought the hummus appetizer was a bit pricey for what you got. Finally, since it's at the end of the rail trail, I definitely would put a sign up directing people to the place. Again, lots of potential. A few adjustments would make this a "go to" place for many people.

Unique spot, a bit off the beaten path but well worth the drive (or bike ride). Great atmosphere, very welcoming vibe from the open garage doors to the side yard that is so colorful & bright. Oh & the food - so incredibly good & out of the box idea to take salt potatoes & pile them with smoked pork. Craft beer from throughout NY highlights the drink menu. Already looking forward to coming back on the next warm day to hang out on the patio.

Wanted takeout but got hung up by a wonky online order system that only let me order pizza when it wasn’t actually available. Got some other items since no pizza and they were all really good. On the cusp of being a little pricey but that’s location. Trending up.

Loved the spot! So warm and welcoming! The vibe was awesome for a nice winter lunch. Played cards while I ate my delicious vegetarian sloppy Joe and friend had her pulled pork sandwich. Everything was top notch from beginning to end. The sever, I think her name was Caitlin, was so friendly and helpful. This is one of my new favorite spots!

A good variety of beer and really good food. a great place to hang out on a nice day.For some reason though, many locals think this is a brewery (including myself, until I visited), as I’ve had many conversations with folks all around Albany County who’ve asked if I’ve been to the new brewery in Voorheesville. So I was a bit disappointed when I arrived with a buddy for an afternoon libation and found they don’t make their own beer… but they have a good selection of beers from across NYS!

Good food, Great service. Waitress asked us many times how we were doing. Food came out super fast. Nice job on the interior as well. You can tell they invested big time to transform the space into what it is. Lots of nice big TV's around the bar. Seems like a good spot to watch a game.

I think this place figured it out! Narrow down the menu and focus on one thing, and do it well! They have barbecue down to a pat and are preparing it beautifully and in a variety of ways. Tonight we enjoyed their stuffed jalapeños. Absolutely delectable!

This was our first time here and what a win for Voorheesville! They were hopping for a Sunday evening and for recently opening it was running nicely. We enjoyed appetizers and dinner. I had the lime chicken sandwich which was delicious! I love the big pretzel appetizer! The food came out hot and cooked nicely. Service was attentive and helpful as it being our first visit. The beer and drink menu is 👍🏻. We look forward to returning!!

Friends told us about this place and it is a little gem in Voorheesville. I love the atmosphere of the converted garage into a brew pub. It's location at the end of the rail trail makes it great for getting some exercise and having a beer and food to reward yourself. The appetizers we had were good as were the main meals. Currently they are not brewing their own beer but they had a great selection of local local and regional beers to sample. Will be back for sure.

After an hour we decided to add an appetizer which I thought they might have comped since we had been waiting. But they didn't. It's great that it's off the rail trail but not sure if I would go back unless I biked

A good addition to Voorheesville since the loss of Smith’s Tavern. They were out of my first and second choice of Short Rib and Pulled Pork but the grilled chicken sandwich was good. Great selection of beer!

Good atmosphere, relaxed vibe, very courteous wait staff. Food is very tasty with quality ingredients. Beer list is a great variety of craft beers that don't break my wallet. Traditional domestic beer is a plus too if I'm there on a Sunday to watch the game for four+ hours. Casual environment, outdoor seating (with cornhole) is a plus. Great to have a solid local place.

So ive been here a few times since it opened, the food seemed to be over priced for the amount size that you get to start. For a burger and what seem like less the hand full frys $17 not just that when i first went there the food was so good so i did not mind there chicken tender were fresh made i loved it but i went there recently and its more like tyson chicken from Walmart. The first time i went there i got to talk to the cheif i believe his name was cory i told him i loved the food since then he has left i dont know why but thethey should get that guy back man his food was on point. Ive seen a handful of new staff from just walk from kitchen and sit at the bar when its busy dont know what thats about , over heard talking about how bad and how many flys were in the kitchen that is not good look.
