Great place to take the kids. Lots to do from the zoo to the merry go round to the park. Something new to see on each visit and it's open all year so it's always exciting. Sometimes parking is $10 and sometimes it's free but it's a nice cheap outing with the kids. Definitely always like to hit the zoo with the kids on our visits. Great views abd plenty to do!

Very beautiful zoo that houses Local animals from around the Northeastern region of USA, with a very picturesque view of the Hudson River and the Historic Bear Mt. Bridge. Good hiking trails going up to the top with majestic view of the Hudson Valley. Beautiful during Autumn, jam packed with tourists, traffic jams and long lines but the view is worth it. Enjoy 🤙Playground: Enough for kids, Merry Go Round all year round. Open Ice skating Rink during the winter season during the weekends (Friday-Sunday)Restrooms: Good amount in picnic areas where a lot people hangs out.Picnic area: A lot of tables and benches where everyone can enjoy. No BBQ

Great place to walk around. I took my kids, and we drove up the mountain to see all the incredible views as the trails were close. Saved us time and energy to drive back down to the lake and to walk around the small zoo, where we saw a few animals and bears. It was a fun family trip. I will most definitely came back during the summer.

A very nice beautiful place. Not too far from the city by car and if you go on a clear day you can see the city skyline.

Amazing place. Beautiful sceneries and one can spend good part of day here. Not too far from the city. A beautiful lake showing a perfect reflection of hill. Hudson view. A mini zoo and great trails. Great onsite cafeteria and gift shop. This is a complete package. It has ample parking and also a seasonal pool. One can walk down to the edge of hudson or on zoo's end look at breath taking view. Truly a hidden gem of a place.

It’s a very large area with lots of different activities to do such as visiting the zoo and their museums. Despite the hiking trails not currently being open, it was still a nice walk and not overcrowded either. There’s also lots of restrooms available throughout the park.

We have been visiting since 1976. We stayed at Overlook lodge. My husband David, daughter Alexis and myself! The rooms were spacious, very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Overlook lodge has a spacious lounge with rustic furniture, and a small deck, with spectacular views looking across Hessian lake and the Hudson River Valley. Highly recommend for a family trip.

Awesome state park & shines even more brightly during autumn. You can see the best NY foliage during late October. This place became a popular and frequent stopover to and from the Woodbury Premium Outlet, which is only 15 minutes away.Restrooms: Plenty of restrooms throughout the parkPicnic area: Plenty of picnic area throughout the park and the biggest area is located near the Inn & the lake.

It’s a nice hike up with nice view. The lake is also beautiful with row boats when weather permits. And this park is very big too to just walk around for those who prefers or are unable to hike up.

Cozy location with lodge, lake with paddle boats, ice rink, pool, beautiful carousel and hiking trails. I attended a wedding here in the carousel building recently and it was gorgeous and unique. The spa located at the Inn is a gem as well.

Beautiful State Park. It was open when we were there (Oct 2nd). Lots of space for walking, events, kids play area, and the hotel was open with a snack shop, gift shop and restrooms for use. The trail area was closed.

This park is very large and beautiful. The hike to the tower has a beautiful scenic view, even though we went during the air quality warning due to the Canadian wildfires. There is a zoo and museum within the park, which is very nice, but half of the exhibits were empty or closed for renovation.Restrooms: Restrooms were hard to find and the ones in the Bear Mountain Inn are reserved for hotel guests.Picnic area: The picnic areas are very spacious and there is a grill and picnic table at each site.

Nice park with lots of picnic tables but no grills. Bring your own grill. Trails are moderately challenging but with good views throughout. Can also drive to the top if Bear mountain and soak in a great view. On a clear day you can see Manhattan.Playground: Well built playground across the street from the parking lot entrance. Walk to it through the tunnel under the road.Restrooms: Clean. Located at the edge of the main parking lot.Picnic area: Tabled scattered throughout the park. These are taken early in the day on weekends. Bring your own grill.

Beautiful place. Opened the day we visited for the first time after devastating storm. Would love to visit again. Loved the roundabout and environs. Great that it was under cover and can just imagine how warm it would be in winter with that great fireplace going.

This is a great park for a day trip out of the city. You can go on the paddle boat for 50 dollars an our or 30 dollars for half an hour for two people. They are tiring but you have to do it at least once. The park is spacious, food is a little pricey and limited so I would bring something packed or cook in the park. I would recommend maybe eating in the evening in many of the local towns like Beacon.

This well kept state park is a gem close to NYC. The trails are well marked out and the park offers many ammenities like pool, barbecue spaces, huge lawns, good parking, visitor center, an inn, and friendly staff. When we went last, it was spring, we did the Bear Mountain Loop Trail. Well worth it, if you start to the east of the mountain. The lake near the parks HQ is also lovely. Parking is paid and visitors do not pay. The park is dog friendly.
