For what it is - a simple motel with few amenities - it is adequate to purpose. Provides a place that is clean to sleep and shower - a base to pursue other interests.The room was a bit drafty (you can control your room temp to compensate though) , and road noise was quite noticeable. We slept with the aid of a white noise app. Didn't notice any daily room service activity. We only had one rickety chair for a room with two beds.Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed.On the plus side, there was a fire-pit ringed with adirondack chairs on the hill that you may partake of - saw some patrons doing this when we arrived - weather permitting. I don't know if this is a regular thing....Having said all this, I would stay here again if in the area.

A great choice for its price. The owner was so welcome, even so we went with my girlfriend and we don’t have a car, owner offered us multiple times ride to the mountain and to the bus, on which we came. Late check out also wasn’t a problem, we had a bus at 6 pm, so we asked if could stay, and there we were welcomed. The room is big enough for 2 people, good location to restaurants and if you have a car it’s only 8-10 minutes ride to the mountain, everything was clear, bed was comfortable and middle gold neither strong nor soft, if you are looking for something fancy it isn’t, but if you’re looking for somewhere to stay and sleep it’s for sure place to stay

My son and I stayed here during a ski trip to Hunter Mountain. It is a good motel. Nothing fancy but clean and everything worked properly. The people that run it are very nice and accommodating. The best part of this trip was the location. The motel is within walking distance to the town of Tannersville where you can find restaurants, bars and quaint shopping stores. And across the street from motel is Jessie's Harvest House, one of the best restaurants in the Catskills.

If you pay cheap, you get cheap... I locked myself out of the room by mistake, and the lady by the desk said she wouldn't be back before 2 hrs. so I opened the door by forcing in a credit card. Cheap yet nice and clean motel.I stayed at the motel for two nights. personal trip. It was the cheapest motel available so I was bit worried. However, the room was very clean. It turns out it was renovated in 2019.I will visit again when I visit Catskills.

My stay at the sun view motel was great. The room was clean & had a working microwave, fridge, ac & tv. The beds were comfy & besides the sound of people walking around upstairs in the morning, my friend and I slept well. Bathroom was clean and had plenty of hot water, bar soap, shampoo, conditioner & towels. I honestly loved my stay, especially the little hill on the property. You can sit on one of their many lawn chairs or take a nap in a hammock or even use the fireplace at night. It’s also in a convenient location. Just a couple blocks down, there is a strip with quirky & interesting shops & good restaurants. I highly recommend the smoke shop & mamas boy burgers. Very friendly people, affordable prices & delicious food!

For a $173 room I would expect that I could sleep in the room, but no, this was not the case. The room was clean, but dated and in need of repairs. The shower did not work well, either scalding hot or freezing cold, and somehow the in-between setting turned off the shower. None of these thing bugged me, it was the fact that the room was like 90°F and the windows did not open and there was no air-conditioning. I spent the night opening the door and having a fan blow air in about every hour so my family could sleep. If the door had a bolt lock I would have just left the door open, locked, with the fan blowing in.I went to the front desk to ask about opening the windows (which obviously were not meant to be open due to the lack of screen and was painted shut!) Or air-conditioning and the women gave me a fan, told me to turn off the heat, which was not on in the first place, and she would have the repair guy come. She brought me the fan, but the guy never showed up. The kicker: other rooms had window AC units, some of them had windows that ACTUALLY opened, and we saw an air compressor for central air. I don't understand why I was not offered another room and I paid so much money for a room that normally I would have paid $70 for at other places.I would not recommend this place.

It was ok......We went with friends and they had a much nicer room for the same price. Our room had no lighting just a small table lamp! It was clean enough, kinda smelled moldy and the air freshener in our room was on high. The walls and ceilings are paper thin and you can hear everything thing from other guests.

Very very pleased with the cleanliness of the room! Cozy with comfortable beds! Great location! Beautiful area outside with firepit/hammock/field! Well worth it for the price!!

This hotel is such a surprise! Was one of the few places as I booked a few weeks ago and got a room. Wow! Such valie and nice rooms. Prices are reasonable and beds are very comfortable. Nicely decorated and washroom is up to date and modern as is the rest of the room. Climate control.works great and this hotel is located right in the middle of the Catskill Mountains. Easy to find and there are plenty of good restaurants nearby. If you like the mountains, this is perfectly located. Staff are prompt and attentive and will answer just about any questions. Most helpful!!! I would stay here again and this is a gem in the Catskill Mountains.

The motel was very clean and spacious. The only issue we had was that the room was very warm with the heat off. The problem could have been solved by opening a window but my overall impression of the room was very positive. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.

The room wasn’t bad itself. But my issue was being right at the stairs and it sounded like people were in our room it was so loud. Not sound proof at all. The blinds were like paper and didn’t cover the whole window. So everyone walking by could see right in our room. We hung up a towel to try to block some. Also this photo was taken at midnight... the room was so bright from the outside lights. No phone in the room and nobody at the office. I tried emailing and calling about the issues, no response. Worst night sleep I have gotten in a very long time. Continually woken up all night with the noise of people walking back and forth, the bright light and being hot. The room only had heat and it was so hot. We turned it off and was still sweating. I opened the windows but then didn’t feel safe because people could see right in the room and the blinds were hitting back and forth.Unless you bring an eye mask, fan & ear plugs, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else and actually get a good nights sleep.

Excellent! I usually only stay in hotels, and this motel was just as good if not better than a hotel! It was very clean and safe. The lady who worked there was so friendly and gave us recommendations on things to do in the town. It's in a good location too. I will definitely go back here next time I visit. I highly recommend!

Pretty location. Hotels looks nice. Room was clean. Bed was comfortable. We were looking forward to relaxing after a day of traveling. Turned on tv. No signal. We should have been informed when checking in . We would have gone else where

* NOT pet friendly * Owner loves pets...but the motel itself doesn't allow them. it's recently been renovated and everything is pristine...so I can't blame them.Super clean rooms and friendly staff. Huge outdoor space behind the parking area. Within stumbling distance from downtown. Overall pleasant experience...we'll stay again next time we're in town.

Very happy after staying at the Sun View Motel for a great ski trip to Hunter Mt. The staff at Sun View were extremely friendly, happy to help us and recommended great places for us to eat. The room was spacious, clean and an updated bathroom. Perfect distance from the mountain and right by the heart of town. Definitely will be back again!

Reasonable rates, clean rooms, crisp sheets, friendly staff. Some people will pick on little things, but I was here on business and it met my needs. WiFi (no password), hot water, lots of outlets, comfortable bed, real exhaust fan in bathroom, refrigerator. For winter, there is a large entry area with lots of places to hang things

If you are looking for a room with uncomfortable beds, Windows painted open, doors that don't latch and a "kitchenette" that consists of only a mini fridge... then this is the place for you. It's a family owned hotel and the service runs on their own personal time line. Don't expect a friendly interaction. The room was relatively clean and has so much potential but the lack of effort to keep the place in good condition shows. We will certainly find someplace else to stay when we are in the area.After reading my wife's similar review on Expedia, the clerk here called my wife and yelled at her on the phone and accused her of being anti-Semitic. We will certainly never stay here again.

Not sure where the pictures of a modern room are coming from. Our two queen bed room was very basic and facing the Main Street. Two out of four pillows were yellowed. Very basic and fine for one night but I wouldn’t stay again. Never saw any staff. Picked up keys from the mailbox by the office and dropped keys back the next morning.

Wow! We had a beautiful stay in the sun view motel. The room is redone brand new. Was spotless clean. Grounds are gorgeous. Great service. Excellent price. Will definitely return.

Had some great memories here. But a hairdresser stole my mom's cookies. That's fine but did you really need to keep the tin? He also kidnapped me in my own car. My family didn't care. They just wanted more beer and cigarettes. I think maybe he hated me cause my hair is so bad :(Anyway, dont let me find out you threw away my mom's tin.

We've started staying in small hotels instead of chains. We've stayed at the Sun View twice, so far, and really love it's low-key feel. The first night we stayed the parking lot was full of cool vintage Volkswagens and Jeeps and the whole place had a cozy glow.Tannersville is a cute little town, it's colorful and looks kind of like the old west, but the grocery shopping is limited and a tad expensive.

We stayed at the Sun View Motel because we had a wedding to go to at Windham Mountain. It was clean and had comfortable beds. Jessica was very helpful and answered any questions we had. The view from the motel was beautiful. We would gladly stay there again.
