Nice things, cool place to visit, but I found it to be very pricey. I understand it's tough for small businesses now adays, but it's tough for everyone. Nice place though and nice people.

Great customer service and so many items to choose from! Since 1949, Speculator Department Store has been a mainstay in the Village of Speculator, NY in the Adirondacks. Quality name-brand clothing from Pendleton, Carhartt, Woolrich and Columbia, home décor & housewares, candles, gifts, jewelry, fishing & outdoor sporting goods, and children’s items, are just some of the things you’ll find in this unique department store.

What a nice store. It had a little bit of everything. What I liked best was that it was not cluttered. Tons of stuff in a small area. It was an easy shopping experience. We will definitely stop again.

This way cool, throwback, old fashioned, general store in an absolutely gorgeous location is worth the drive from anywhere. Not just another t-shirt shop. They offer high-quality and truly unique treasures as well as some of the usual tourist items. We never fail to leave with something truky useful that we never expected to find. Also, check out the nearby antique stores that also sell locally handmade Adirondack furniture for a fraction of what you'd find elsewhere. Highly recommended!

I just love the Speculator Department store. It's a great not-so-little place in Hamilton county! Whether you need Adirondack home decor, clothing, or a gift, they've got something for everyone. The staff are friendly and helpful, and they'll even gift wrap your purchase for you.

Staff was very friendly. Prices were up there but that's to be expected in a small town shop selling knick knacks. Overall positive experience and lots of cool things to look at. Also, smelled really nice in there!

It was a trip down memory lane for me, but, it's just not the same anymore. It used to be Pendleton shirts & Hudson Bay blankets, etc. Now it's mostly the same touristy stuff you see in every shop.

This store is so cute!! They carry a variety of different things such as clothes, candy, and other small toys. They carry Patagonia and have sweatshirts, jackets, and touristy t-shirts. They have the best maple candy. The store is fairly large so there’s something for everyone.

Neat little shop with lots of stuff to look at. They have trinkets and camp gear, clothing and home goods. It was a great diversion on a rainy day during our last trip up to Piseco.

It’s a really nice store, love that they have Pendleton blankets and clothes, but I wish they carried a bit more modern, rustic stuff like cool maps, local art. A lot of the stuff is really kitschy.

One of my favorite places in Speculator. I can always find an affordable gift. I’m conflicted as to whether their Christmas corner was the best, or the Adirondack section...both divine!! And oh!! They gift wrap for free!! Also a UPS pickup spot.

The store is nice, but the staff was incredibly rude and discriminatory. They made no attempt to say hi or ask us if we need help. They barely spoke to us and never made eye contact even as we made a purchase. No "thank you" or "have a nice day." As we came in, we heard them being very lovely to the other person in the store. This person was white, and we were not. It leads me to only one conclusion. How disgusting.
