This place has really gone downhill. Spent nearly 3k on a green egg set up with them coming out of the pandemic in ‘21 and was told by Adam, the owner, that I’d have coupons to redeem/slash store credit. No mention was made of how they’d arrive or them expiring. Time passed before I had a chance to go back and he showed no interest at all in honoring what he’d told me and wasn’t apologetic in the least.Got home and asked my Mom if she’d had any issues with me and she told me a story about a recent visit where she needed help identifying a lightbulb that needed replacing. She enlisted the of the sales woman, who asked her “What do I look like, a psychic?”Go to this store if you want to be belittled and treated poorly.

This is a wonderful family business owned and staffed with caring people that know what they are selling and are truly interested in helping their customers solve problems. We bumped into the owners at the airport a few years ago and they offered to loan us some cash if we needed it because the only open place for food was not accepting credit cards. Side note we had cash so it was not an issue

Alpers is the best hardware store in Port Washington, hands down. They are very friendly and the family that runs the store grew up here. Hardware is their life! So they know the product you are looking for. Take your kids to Alpers and let them hear the creaking of the old wood floors that reminds you of the hardware stores of yesteryear. Alpers is the real deal. Their paint store is top notch too. Why drive a half hour to a big box hardware store to try and save 50¢? Support your local business!

Great local hardware store. Service is always great. Recenty i hired them to clean my Weber natural gas grill and it was the best money I ever spent. I usually spend 3 hours every spring cleaning it myself and it wouldnt look nearly as clean as Victor got it to look. I wouldnt say it looks like new but its about as close as its gonna get. I am definately going to use them every spring from now on.

This has been our "Go to" for all of our hardware and paint. The staff are mostly family and they will take care of you as if you are as well. If you need recommendations for anything for your home improvements, Alpers has the knowledge to point you in the right direction. My husband is loyal to Alpers for all of his hardware and paint needs. There is no better hardware store that compares to Alpers. Do yourself a favor and stop in, you won't be sorry👍👍👍👍

Its a store where you can start to get to know the staff and you know they genuinely care. Some of the other stores you just feel like no one cares. Its become my go-to! Its also the best looking store. Fun for anyone who enjoys browsing hardware stores as wel!

Horrible experience! I went to purchase a small lightbulb for my fridge and was told it was $9 and paid for it. I was shocked at the price because normally light bulbs aren't that price. 2 months hasn't even passed and the lightbulb burnt out, so I took it back to them and asked them if I could get a new one. A worker there comes and tells me they had given me the wrong bulb for my fridge and the bulb I need is $2. THEY had given me the wrong bulb which is maybe why the bulb died so fast. It's not about the money, but the simple fact they couldn't accommodate me because of THEIR mistake is poor costumer service. Very disappointed and will not be going back to them and recommend no one else does.As a response to your message. Im not quite sure what receipt you're talking about because I never showed you any receipt during our conversation. Why would I keep a receipt thats several months old? I've attached a picture of my statement in which shows I paid $9. like I said before. It's really disappointing to see that you couldn't even accommodate me a $2 bulb from your store because of a mistake you guys made. I've been going to your store for several years and have never had any problems until now. Have a good day.

Tremendous service and friendly staff. If I take longer than 5 seconds to find an item, someone is there asking if I need help. I wish they had longer store hours as they’re usually closed by the time I get back to PW from work.

Correction to another's comment. Many Alpers prices are actually lower than Home Depot's. The big box stores can be lower on their chosen items,but higher on many others .
