The Pawling Hannaford is one of the worst I’ve been to. Other Hannaford locations are much better, this one is old, small, and extremely poorly stocked. It seems that corporate overlooks it and doesn’t put much money into the building at all. It is extremely poorly managed and has been going downhill the last few years. This year it has been extremely poorly stocked every time I’ve been there. On the positive side, the store is usually mostly clean. Bathrooms are clean. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. Cashiers are always pleasant. The bakery dept is good, and all the baked goods are fresh and tasty. Meats are always fresh as well. This store has MAJOR stock and supply chain issues, worse than any other supermarket I’ve been to. It is NEVER well stocked, no matter what time or day you shop there. There are ALWAYS many empty shelves in numerous departments throughout the store. It’s especially bad if you go in the later half of the day or during the week. Entire departments and rows of shelves will be completely bare and empty. It’s an issue at this store specifically as no other supermarket has stock issues nowhere near as bad as this location does. Even other Hannaford stores are much better stocked on a daily basis. This store is also very understaffed, and the staff that are there are overworked as there aren’t enough staff to keep up. I’ve noticed the store manager tends to show favorites to specific employees and treats others like garbage. Another issue is freshness. Check expiration dates as I often find expired food on the shelves, and check your produce before buying, I’ve found moldy berries or rotten salads on the shelves at times. Lastly, the meat dept shelves need some cleaning and are showing their age. You’d think with so many empty shelves, management would have the staff take time to rotate whatever products are there and remove rotten/expired food, as well as take the opportunity to clean the shelving, but that’s not the case here. The side of the building near the loading dock is always messy with litter and garbage scattered around. All these issues are worse at this Hannaford than many other grocery stores, which makes it very obvious that it is a management problem specifically at this location. I never usually see the managers on the floor, and most of the other Hannaford stores don’t have issues as bad as this. Most of the other Hannaford stores as well as store of other supermarket chains are much better stocked, better staffed, and do a better job keeping the food fresh, and well organized as well as keeping the stores clean. There needs to be a change in management at this location. The fact that there are constantly so many empty, messy, and poorly stocked shelves, expired foods, poor cleanliness in several areas all points to bad management at this specific store. It’s gotten worse over the last few years, and this year has been the worst yet. The store is completely unreliable, you can’t count on them having what you need on your list. Lastly, under previous managers several years ago, this store was run significantly better than it is now, again pointing to an issue with the current management. I remember back in 2019-2020 this store was MUCH better than it is now. It has great potential but changes need to be made as this store is not up to standards.

probably the worst grocery store I've ever visited. it's not just that it's super old and doesn't have much inventory, it's also the produce department and how disgusting the fresh food is. every single thing I bought including a 10 lb bag of potatoes went bad in under 72 hours, completely spoiled and rotted. the prices were also outrageous and anywhere from $1-$4 more for the usual cost of items elsewhere. I'll stick to Trader Joe's even though it's far, this grocery store is just a waste of money. I spent $150 in one trip and had to go shopping again 3 days later.

Fairly average in terms of your “chain supermarket,” however it is nice to see a store that is consistently clean with clear marketing.While giving hints of its fellow locations, this Hannaford still feels “small.” The layout is a tad off putting with cleaning products and industrial items smacked into the middle of your standard food aisles. I also felt like both the organic and hot food sections left little to be desired.Prices here are generally better than most local competitors like Acme or Stop n Shop, to name a few. The associates were kind enough and it’s generally easy to find what you need and shop quickly.While it’s not my favorite supermarket around, the location is convenient. I have a slight grievance with not being able to turn left outside of the plaza itself, but in a rural community, Hannaford’s serves its purpose.

Hannaford is a general supermarket with just a little extra. To explain, there is a section with baked goods, prepackaged cold cuts, and prepared foods. An "organic" section does exist, but it does not exactly rival say a, Trader Joe's. Certain marinates and or seasonings may not be found at this supermarket. It would appear that they stick to what sells indefinitely and do not venture far from that. For example, I can purchase a jerked seasoning to cook with from another supermarket closer to the city that Hannaford does not seem to have. On other occasions, the search for Goya products in the form of juices or puree has been just as elusive. So, more or less you may want to consider Hannaford a general store with more.

It is a mixed bag. It has that grocery superstore feel, but they have stock issues. You may find one section's shelves filled up, and another almost empty. The seafood section recently had an outage because they're one scale was out of commission for a few days. That said, the store is filled with helpful staff and probably has what you need.

Large, clean and friendly people. I went to get a fresh ham for Christmas and the butcher went in the back and brought me a nice one. Very happy with my experience. At this point stock is low and not getting enough products in. Been doing pretty good. But like everywhere prices are going up. Stocked shelves are better. I call ahead and ask if they can hold a product I want. Very friendly people.

This store is frequently out of items. It is a 30 minute drive for me to do my shopping. Some times as much as 50% of my list will be out of stock. I do not shop on busy days or the day after. I worked in the grocery business for 15 years I know better. In the past year on no less then 5 occasions I have gone there specifically to get eggs and half and half. Only to find one or both are out of stock. I have attempted to raise the issue with Hannaford but to no avail. I now do 75-80% of my shopping elsewhere.

Love this store. Hannaford Pawling is well-run, the staff are great, they have tons of choices and products, and oftentimes the prices on specialty items (organic or brand name or etc) are more reasonable than an upmarket chain. They source locally for high quality items like Ronnybrook dairy products, or Spindrift sparkling water, and somehow offer these at much lower prices than anywhere else I know. Produce, fruit departments, bakery are well-stocked. The pharmacy and their vaccine services are top notch. Support local.I especially love the early morning weekday cashiers - they are all super fast, super efficient, cheerful, and hustle. They are the best.

Always happy to go there. Some prices were lower than other markets. Friendly staff. I'll go back. Still go for lower prices. Some trouble with stock. But not bad. Stock still fairly good. December things are pretty good with the stock on the shelves. Could use some more help. But good otherwise. They are still doing pretty good.

Hannaford is a staple in my grocery supply and this is such a compact powerhouse!! The Pawling store is clean and packed with great options for being a smaller store. The staff is absolutely wonderful. There is a fair amount of turnover, but everyone is kind and helpful and there is generally helpers around the checkout to help bag and keep the lines moving quick if there are any.The selection and price combination is what really makes hannaford such a powerhouse! The quality of items is stellar, the selection of healthy and gluten free, grain free, dairy free, etc continues to grow—and as always, even amidst rapid inflation, the prices here are lower than most!

The new pick up service at Hannaford is the greatest thing ever. Go on their app and place your food order and they'll have it ready for you when you get there you don't even have to go into the store. What can be better than that.

The store offers a good range of food, is clean and overall very good. I would normally give them 4 stars. My wife was out of town for a month, and even though we normally don't shop there, I went three times. Twice the cashiers scanned my food, took my payment and helped me pack – each time without saying a single word to me. All three times nobody said hello or goodbye. Something is missing in the management of this store. Compare that to Trader Joes, Adams or even Acme, where the staff always greets you with a smile, and it makes one wonder how a store can operate like that.

Due to the impending storm I knew that the grocery stores would be crowded earlier in the day so I waited until dinner time. No problem finding a close parking space and the store was not crowded at all. Thank goodness since there were only 3 registers open.

I purchased a set of baking pans, they were not cheap. The cashier banged them together and when I asked him to be gentle he got into an argument with me. Now I have to inspect for dents and will probably return them. Jerk. I told him to call a manager and he said he was a manager. Shame on you!

Easy and fast checkout. Fruit is a bit pricey. Breyers ice cream selection is basic. Very good for a small shopping list especially when you need items quickly.

The manager wouldn’t sell my husband beer even with his ID because I hadn’t brought my wallet into the store. We are 35! Seemed like a kid on a power trip rather than someone enforcing a consistent rule. Is someone accompanied by their child not allowed to buy beer? I don’t understand. Ruined our first experience in the store.
