I love going to the VIC because the trails are nice and well kept. The visitor's center is nice and has a beautiful view. They have classes and events here.

Absolutely awesome outdoors experience and learning area. Great camping spots, fun trails and plenty of areas to go to just relax in the outdoors while studying. There is also a plethora of places to do scientific research on the wildlife and their habitats all across the VIC and it is extremely useful for certain classes and research projects. And its absolutely beautiful.

We had a great experience with the staff and services at the VIC. I was organizing a group of active seniors through Will Rogers, our local independent living community. We took horse drawn sleigh rides and had a picnic lunch. It was marvelous!Restrooms: Restrooms are available via the entry vestibule during daylight hours, even when the main building is closed.Picnic area: You can pack in a picnic, year-round. Facilities, such as pavilions, the deck, and the atrium, all accommodate this use.

Had a great time walking the very-easy Boreal Trail with the family this week. Not even our 4-year old was tuckered out by the end, that's how easy of a loop it was. And yet beautiful! Afterwards, we grilled Hot Dogs at the grills near the parking lot. Note: the VIC building is closed. There are portapotties outside and NYS sanitizer, but no water for the winter. Just so you plan appropriately. Enjoy!

This was our first visit to Paul Smith's VIC but certainly not our last. The scenery was magnificent and the trails were fantastic. It was a stunning day but would have been a great day there even if it was less than perfect. We will definitely be back. Thanks for a wonderful day!

A beautiful area to discover on foot. I had a great time painting there in October, 2023. Here's an oil painting I did of Heron Marsh.

We have done every trail the VIC has to offer at least twice. They are very well upkept and they continue to add new trails. The bathrooms are alway clean and they have a nice picnic and play area for kids. The butterfly house used to be my favorite thing to do as a kid. This is an amazing center with something for everyone old or young.

Booked the beginner’s guided canoe tour on heron marsh and Barnum pond. It was fantastic. A 2 hour light paddle through adirondack wetlands. Our guide (a retired forest ranger) was highly knowledgeable of the habitat and it’s inhabitants. I definitely recommend this activity. There are also free trails you can walk at your own pace. Various trails for all ages and abilities. What a gem. Love this place.

We stumbled upon the VIC not expecting anything more than some snowshoe trails. We ended up renting cross-country skis (excellent equipment) - and getting a free lesson from a superb duo of volunteers. The facility is beautiful and everything is top notch. They even had a nice fire going outside and offered us homemade cookies after the ski lesson. Highly recommended.

The V.I.C. has been a regular stop for my family returning from camping in the Adirondacks. The well groomed trails are a great introduction to typical Northern Adirondack ecosystems and the displays and Programs provide valuable insight into local nature and history for all ages. The staff are enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and pleasant. Not to be missed!

Lovely exhibit in the visitor center. The Heron Marsh trail had great views of the marsh with several lookouts. Trails were well maintained and wide. A great place for a hike with many trails from which to choose.

My family had a great time hiking the trails. It was pretty cool to see carnivorous plants like pitcher plants. This place was 10 times better than the Wild Center in Tupper Lake.

Come here and do the Boreal Life trail! Boardwalks through a bog with all its fascinating plant life. Watch for the carnivorous Pitcher Plants-- truly a sight to behold. There's more than 20 miles of trails here. Lots to see.

This place is an absolute pleasure. Winter wonderland. This place is great any time of year on foot, snow shoes, skis. Lots of trails, lots to see and you feel like you have gotten your money's worth PROVIDING you brought YOUR equipment. Rentals there are a highway robbery.

Beautiful spot, great walking trails, interesting programs! The VIC has been taken over by Paul Smiths College, and in addition to the educational programs on wildlife and nature, they have added trail runs, music events, lectures, and food-based events. A good place!

Went on what was supposed to be a 5 senses field trip here, with 2 kindergarten classes. At the last minute they decided to send ALL guides to training, and left us to navigate the "nature walk" on our own. Needless to say, our nature walk turned into 3-4 miles+, top that off with emergency walkie talkies that didn't work, and a map/trail system that was utterly CONFUSING, and we ended up "lost". "Lost" on the trails with approximately 40 kindergarteners, some siblings that were younger, varying degrees of physical capabilities, medical issues, and one Mother being pregnant, is not ok! I would NOT recommend them!!! I am unsure why we paid for a field trip, when we didn't get any of the experiences we were suppose to, no butterfly house, no tour or info of the interactive center, nothing, no guided nature walk. VERY DISSAPOINTED!!!

Such a special place. A must visit when in the Adirondacks. My three year old loved romping around on the trails.
