The store is currently under new management. . I am the new manager and i have a great deal of knowledge on all salt water and fresh water fiah and pretty much everything We sell. So if you ever come to my store and. Feel your not being helped. They way you need. You can call any time. And. Ask to speak to me and i will help you. With what ever you need by directing the staff. Or speaking to you directly. And the live stock selection has greatly improved and we. Do take in request for animals we do not have in stock. Depending on the season and availability. But will make the effort. To get. You what you want and if we caint, Point you in the right direction !

This Petland store is just like any other. You get mixed prices, some are better than others and some are way worse than others. Some of the livestock is well priced but others are way overpriced. Most of their products for and livestock is not always tg he best deal to purchase here. You can go online and get better prices. For an emergency stop, this place will work for you. Staff wasn't even around to ask if they can help out on my visit. When I get to the register, no one was around. I had to wait for the person to finish putting up some inventory first so then he could take care of me. Due to staff and the counter experience, that's my reason for the 3 star rating.

I was really upset with the level of basic knowledge, empathy, and problem solving capabilities when it came to this location in reference to a purchase of an aquarium and inquiries in reference to the initial set up.When a family member wanted to surprise me with a mini set up in my new apartment in NY, he was very reliant on the staffs knowledge set to help make sure the initial set up was perfect. He was asking all of the right questions but rather than genuinely want to help, it seemed like all they wanted to do was sell him as much as possible . Before the tank was even established (an 8 gallon Nano tank) they sold him about 10 fish which they mentioned is okay. Anyone who works with fish and owns them knows you first HAVE to let the tank cycle and stabilize before introducing live fish. When you are finally ready to do so, you do it by adding a couple at a time (in this case 2-3 based on the tank size) , and not 10 right off the batOn top of that, when I brought in fish that died the same day, the manager refused to refund me and rather only gave me a credit to purchase future fish. I tried to have the credit applied to a couple of things that were needed to complete the initial set up that weren't mentioned by the staff (tank heater fir the tropical fish purchased for example) but they refused to do so. I tried to look past it and even went on to buy a stand for the tank. I purchased the stand and went home to try and complete the setup, but when I pulled the stand out of the box, it was all scratched and nicked up as if it was heavily used. The next morning I woke up , three more fish died and my wife and I had such a bad experience that we wanted to avoid this store at all costs so we were just going to count this all as a loss. After explaining this to my brother in law, who made the initial purchases, he suggested to call the corporate office (I would of done this first but I didn't know this was a corporation as I am from NJ)I gave a call to corporate the first chance I had and luckily they were able to educate the staff on the correct livestock return policy and apply the refund, credit me for the damaged tank stand that was originally sold to me, and speak to the district manager to ensure the staff is well educated on aquarium stocking protocol. At the end of the day, it wasn't about the money for me (which is why I wanted to avoid the store in the first place and just cut losses) it was much more about making sure that another customer doesn't have to go through what I did. More importantly it's to make sure more fish don't die in the hands of a customer for the stores lack of knowledge. An amazing gift idea turned into a temporary headache but now that everything is ironed out, the surviving fish are in a much better homeMy advice for anyone who reads this:Avoid this store for the lack of knowledge, overall quality of animal care (I've honestly never seen a store with fish in worse condition), empathy, and lack of urgency to want to helpIf this review helps one person in the future, I'm a happy manGood luckRespectfully,The voice for the fish who didn't make it

I had to make an emergency trip to my local Petland today to drop off fish. The electricity on my city block was out. So I had a horrible night with my 6 aquariums. They took two of my large fish. An employee named Jonathan helped me. This guy went above and beyond in helping me and even called other stores to see about battery operated air supply pumps. I didn't even ask which was super sweet. He was extremely knowledgeable about my fish and he didn't just toss them in with others. If this guy is not manager I hope he makes it to management one day. This company would benefit from a mind like his.

I go in there with my six year old granddaughter to buy an aquarium setup you get ignored by the lazy#$@ girl behind the counter then my granddaughter needs to use the bathroom she tells me they don't have one even though my granddaughter is doing a dance in the store. So I leave to find a bathroom come back and now no one is working in the store the girl is outside on her phone with two other people and looking around the store I find 4 Dead very expensive 35 $40 fish floating and tanks why are they even working there

They've just permanently closed, but before they did it was great for fish supplies, new fishies and snails. About half the store was dedicated to fish and aquarium supplies. We didn't buy much here for our dog but the certainly had stuff for furry friends too.

You might as well send your teenage kids to work here...bad attitude and work ethic. Not only is the staff hard to find but when you do actually locate 1 they huff and puff abd sigh because you just distrubed them while they where doing whatever on their phones. Even while talking to you they are texting... They dont know anything cant give advice and are annoyed because your bothering them to do their job. Prob relatives of owner...Freakn useless.... Will never shop there again. I went in lookn for proper filter for turtle tank, I left with a very loud fish tank filter it dudnt say so on the box but i was specifically lookn for just that 1 thing. Paid $25, when i tried to return i was told they dont do returns! So yeah save money time abd a qhole lot id agrivation!

THIS IS THE CORRECT LOCATION. IGNORE THE OTHER ADDRESS AT 48TH ST. IT'S ALSO LISTED INCORRECTLY AT PETLAND DISCOUNTS WEBSITE. Attended vaccination event here through Luv My Pets. Took a little under 2 hours, but it was a beautiful day so I didn't mind waiting. Cashier was very friendly, and they had free range grass fed bully sticks (boogie I know but I love my pup) which my dog enjoyed. Plenty of parking.

This place obviously has no idea about any types of animals, the person I asked for help read the names of the fish from the label and had zero knowledge of anything or how to take care of them. I went in to get two algea eater fish and was shocked to find how negligent they are of taking care of their animals. Look at this pile of rotting dead fish they had in their aquarium....!!! There are at least 1 or 2 dead fish in every other aquarium and they don't even bother with them. I would even call this animal cruelty. I can only imagine how they treat their other animals.

Huge waste of time if you need staff assistance. Don't go here if you need fish unless you expect to wait around for about 30-40 minutes for the employees to stop talking to one another long enough to help. Don't waste your energy going here.

This Petland sucks. Every time I call no one picks up the phone. I would call around 12pm on 3/18/2019 and on 3/19/2019 and the phone just rings, rings and rings for like an hour or two and no one picks up. I guess this is just one of many reasons they will soon go out of business. No Customer service here at all. Someone should have a talk with Management there

Prices are decent but its up to you and your knowledge because the employees know nothing. That being said they have a basic selection of fish at decent prices.

Great local pet shop for supplies and small pets, fish, reptiles and birds. It's been a community shop for more years than I can remember. Staff is helpful l.

I’m not a employee there but aren’t you suppose to take out the fishes when they die and not let them ball up? They can’t even do there job right
