Sale prices tend not to always ring up. Often, sale signs are worded confusingly and are unnecessarily complicated. Does not give off local business vibes, as prices are high and hours are terrible (often they are turning the lights off even before 8pm); both of which don't seem to serve the local community. This place is well liked (and their subs aren't too bad, if a little skimpy) but I'm not sure the reputation is well deserved, at least not as of this date.

OH YES folks, yet another 60 mile plus drive from the CORNING - ELMIRA, NY area to this "CITY CHICKEN MECCA" at SCHNEIDER'S and a very - very special lady "CITY CHICKEN QUEEN / EXTRAORDINARESS Miss PENNY!! Well worth the drive for Penny's "special touch" of a mostly lost Eastern European Delicacy known as "CITY CHICKEN". Out-of-this-world flavor AND in a survey / review PENNY - PENNY'S CITY CHICKEN - SCHNEIDER'S should get a 20 to 100 star rating AND not just 5 stars....they earn it!! We moved in the area 2.5 years ago.We didn't know much about this store. I stopped in recently and Wow!What a great place!Everyone is super friendly and knowledgeable. Sue is super friendly and on point! Please do not change. We have found our new grocery store!

Probably one of the most well stocked stores I seen in the last 2 years. They have a pretty wide selection of products. They had plant milk and creamer. Just need some Morning Star and Daiya cheese and I could do more shopping there. I hate having to drive into the city. Plus I love little mom and pop places.

This is a cute little place. I go in for subs quite often because that are a good price and they are delicious! I took a star because last night was the 3rd time I've seen an employee pick up a pen with a gloved covered hand, and then use that hand to make my sub. That should be a no-no to begin with. But with COVID-19 running around it shouldn't be happening.

I love this store. Friendly people and a great selection of products, and all the customers that I've seen wear masks, as per store policy. This is important to me because my husband is at very high risk for death from COVID, and I normally feel very safe here. However, at my most recent visit, I noticed that the staff stocking the shelves were not following the store's own mask policy. They had their masks off and around their necks, and wore them only when a customer could see them. (Well, the women at least would put them on - the two male stockers I saw didn't put on their masks even when I started to walk down their aisles.) I understand that it's warm, stocking is physical work, and the store didn't have A/C on. But masks are still important, even thin ones. In a small enclosed space, virus particles can spread quickly, and any face covering over nose and mouth helps. I normally feel very safe at Schneider's but today I felt unsafe and purchased less than I normally would have because I just wanted to leave. Again - I love this store. I hope that the owners reiterate store policy with the stocking staff, or maybe switch to off-hours stocking for most of their products. I will visit one more time - but if I see employees mask-less again, I will sadly have to leave and start using the more expensive pick-up options at the big box stores until this is all over. I am more than happy to change my review to 5 stars if this one downside changes.

Great mid sized neighborhood grocery store that has been a staple for the residents of Kirkwood (5 Mile point) for a long time. There deli is very good and their meat prices are fair. Love their pan sausage ground meat.

I would like to say thank you to John as my granddaughter was completely out of gentleease baby formula and out of the kindness of his heart gave me 2 cans free of charge there are angels out there and he is one thank you again for helping my granddaughter with her formula

I have lived in this town my entire life and have saw this store go through many changes and trials and tribulations. One thing remains constant about it. They have a wonderfully rude middle age woman who is usually in front of house who would rather blab her trap to her coworkers than help customers. Do not ask her to exchange a product that you're dissatisfied with or she'll treat you like dirt. Their prices are double what the other grocery stores are for the same or better products. Prices are stupid inflated, which gives off the impression they are a gas station or are just blatantly screwing their brainwashed customers who shop there for no good reason. I am fortunate enough to be able to afford a very comfortable life and id rather drive 20 miles to a different store just for the principle of it, why would I allow myself to be screwed over by paying way way too much for a small selection of food when a short mile or two I could have 10x the choices and far better pricing. Not to mention, not having to see that mouthy, and rude woman whom is a hiddious representative of that business when it's time to check out is reason enough to never step foot in there again. Their deli has comparable meats. However when I have the luxury of an hour lunch but it takes the lazy, and poorly trained ladies take 25 min to make a sandwich due to the fact of they'd rather stand there and blab there mouths to their coworkers instead of doing their jobs makes the misery of this store come full circle. This town has been brainwashed for some reason to shop there and the owners have taken full advantage of this by raping the customers with severely inflated prices and sub par service for years. It needs to stop. And fire that imbecile woman with the attitude problem. Not sure nor couldn't care less of her name but it's not Sue nor any other of the cashiers. She's older than the rest, heavyset, shoulder length hair and is miserable, that description alone should make identifying her fairly easy. What a true disappointment for the town of Kirkwood.

This place somewhat reminds me of Aldi's because it is small, has smaller selections, but has similar prices. The deli has some of the best sandwiches you'll ever have. Service is pretty all right.

They have an awesome deli where you can get classic subs for lunch. They also have some amazing rice pudding as well. The deli is where its at when you visit Schneider's.

Got stuck in kirkwood for the weekend cause of the storm and hate truckstop fast food so I dropped my trailer and came over this morning for ingredients for my crockpot .Parked in back of the lot and no hassles .Very nice people and great deli .I deliver in kirkwood alot and will be back .Brad zeilingerOmaha Nebraska.

It's a great little grocery store meats are fantastic everyone that works there is very nice and polite camping some of the prices are a little high you just have to watch but what do you expect for the store in the middle of nowhere I think it's a great stop

Schneider's is my favorite grocery store. Their meats are always good and fresh as well as reasonably priced. The people who work there are frendly and helpful.

Just check the dates on the things you buy. I think sometimes the shelves aren't rotated. Besides that staff is nice and they have a great deli.
