While I cannot attest to long term results of Jim's programs, he obviously has a love for dogs and when I emailed him about an incident he called me within the hour. His advice was not one to make me feel warm and fuzzy but rather was realistic and broad scale. I wish there was a magic way to fix the problems, but as a four dog/pack owner I know that it's a full time job and lifetime commitment. Thanks for your quick response Jim.

Sending your puppy to boot camp is a scary thing. After 3 weeks my Boston Terrier came home a new happy dog without biting & destroying our home. And whenever I need to kennel her, she goes to Jim Stile and returns home happier & a little better behaved than before.

We brought our dog to Jim as we were going away on vacation and I could not leave my crazy jumping golden retriever puppy with my parents in their late eighties. You know that Jim loves the animals when you come and meet him and he tells you how he’s going to work with your dog and how to feed him etc.. Well, we came back from vacation and we have a completely different dog. He is very, very loving, but he is no longer crazy. I am very glad we brought our dog to Gym and I believe our dog was treated very well while he was with Jim fed very well and socialized very well. We are very happy with Jim’’s services at Acadia.

Leaving Garrett with Jim for two weeks felt like leaving him with family. Garrett came home a different and well trained dog.The best part is that Jim is always a phone call away with advice or suggestions. Working with Jim was wonderful. He helped my girlfriend and I have our dogs meet for the first time as my dog historically has not gotten along with other dogs. He was thoughtful and explained each thing he was doing as he was doing it. Everything he said felt extremely knowledgeable and helped train myself and my partner to be better dog owners as much as it helped train our dogs! I felt very safe and that our dogs were safe the whole time we were working with him. It felt like Jim genuinely cares about the work he does and it showed in the way he interacted with our dogs. I will be going back here to help with all my dog training needs.

Working with Jim was absolutely great, I can't recommend Acadia Canine Academy any higher for dog board and train work.We brought our 1-year-old, Wolf, to ACA for training. We were hoping to work on a few things, among them: recall, anxiety in public, and reactivity towards other dogs. Wolf lost a leg at some point before we adopted him, so we assumed there was some serious trauma he had undergone that contributed to his anxiety. We were hopeful that Wolf could fare well with good training.Jim was very happy to take Wolf in for board and train, and was highly generous with his time over the phone to discuss any detail or concern. Dropping Wolf off, I felt reassured that it would go well, as ACA is clean, organized, and Jim's dogs are wonderfully well behaved.Picking Wolf up, I could tell Wolf had a wonderful time and made incredible progress on all of our points of improvement. It was also a great learning experience for myself. Jim gave highly perceptive observations on Wolf's behavior, and also suggested that his missing leg may have been due to an attack from another dog, which would explain his defensiveness. I hadn't thought of this, but it made a lot of sense. Furthermore, Jim showed deep interest and care in Wolf, and he gave some advice and discussed therapeutic relief for Wolf's remaining hind leg.Today Wolf is a more relaxed, more obedient, and better trained pup. We are looking forward to working with Jim and co. at ACA again.Attached is a photo of Wolf, and him doing a fantastic sit for us.

Wild child Tamed.I recently adopted a Rescue Husky puppy named Angie, who I immediately knew I was meant to take care of. I had Huskies in the past and felt I could really give Angie a wonderful forever home.Once she arrived and settled in I realized that Angie had a few behavioral issues, which were concerning because she would be around my 20 month old granddaughter.I had traveled to the Hudson Valley New York area to not only visit with my daughter and her family, but also to find a new home, as I would be relocating there from Boston. I knew that Angie required more expert training than I was able to provide and that's when I stumbled upon Acadia Canine Academy in Kingston, New York. Jim, right away, was able to assess that Angie had a high energy drive which he would help her with. He reassured me that she was not aggressive or nervous, but just needed additional training to work through her issues. He was great with Angie and provided me with a wealth of information regarding her motivation.I truly appreciated that he was a very calming force not only with Angie, but also to me over the separation anxiety I was experiencing while Angie was in training. He not only gave me progress reports but he also sent me videos of my dog during her training lessons.It was comforting to see her progress with each new session. JIm was really a miracle worker for Angie. She's back home now and doing great. Angie is still the wonderful high energy dog I adopted, but she is listening more and the behavioral issues are dissipating. He and I did not have a good interaction as he called back with an attitude. He knew nothing about my dog before he hung up on because went on a tangent about something he knew nothing about. He had no interest in helping me whatsoever. He was only interested in what he was concerned about which was not a relevant concern of mine. I would never use him as a professional. And then proceeds to send me a nasty text message after hanging up.

Jim and his staff are the most outstanding people I have had the pleasure of working with. It’s hard to leave your dog (baby) with just anyone. And Jim is the best I have found by far. Where can I begin I met Jim Statin when I was training my 3 year old pup to become a service dogMy dog is a cockerpoo and she’s just the sweetest most adorable dog. I have never heard her bark Her birthday is in April and when she came home in June she was like an old soul I thought she would be a problem with July 4 but she never complained about the noise This is the 25th animal for my husband of 64 years and myself so we felt having her become a service dog was a good idea with both of oh our late 80s and having some health issues and after meeting Jim would be a good idea and after meeting Jim we knew it would be a great team He was so patient and helpful that Pix took to him right away and she is now a certified service dog We are so happy with the results and will always be grateful to Jim Stile

Our experience working with Jim was nothing short of amazing. My husband and I enrolled Pippin (our 3 year old yorkie) into the two week board and train program while we were out of town, hoping that Jim could help us with some basic training, as well as give us some guidance surrounding his more problematic dominant behaviors (which include biting and guarding).Jim and Janice demonstrated an in-depth understanding of dog behavior, and utilize humane training techniques. They patiently explained the reasons behind Pippins behaviors and gave us strategies to work with him, which they demonstrated for us upon our return (even letting us take a video of them working with Pippin so that we have a reference as we continue his training at home). Now that we have specific strategies for working with Pippin we have seen much improvement. It's very clear that Jim and his staff care about the dogs they work with and you can rest assured your pup will be in good hands. We would confidently recommend Jim and his staff!

Jim took the time and effort to learn about us as well as the dog. He trains for long term successful relationships not cute tricks. Our young Shephard mix was out of control wild and willful, after a few weeks with Jim she listens and is eager to please. Our pup was over a year old when she first met Jim and though we should have started sooner, it's a big improvement and getting better as we reinforce what Jim worked on with her. We boarded/trained our one year old chocolate Labrador with Jim at Acadia Canine Academy for 2 weeks. At drop off I felt comfortable and confident that our pup would get the undivided attention needed for his temperament and high energy needs. Jack has certainly gained some much needed restraint and is a much better behaved pup. Jim is a compassionate trainer who I would definitely recommend. Last Fall we had Jim train our German Shepherd Nova. We had recently adopted her and she was our first dog. He really took the time to help us understand the different drives she had and how to handle her temperament so we could continue reinforcement training after her time with him. She took well to the training and we use the techniques he taught us every day. Jim showed he really cared about Nova and us as he took the time to train us while handling Nova before we left at the end of her time with him. We highly recommend him and are happy that we brought our Nova to him.

I was looking for basic obedience training for my Rhodesian Ridgeback, a notoriously strong willed and independent breed. Jim came through. Although my pup was only 8 months old he came back to me as a much more behaved and Obedient companion. My dogs, Rocky and Whiskey, went to a room and board training program with Jim, one for 2 weeks and the other for 4. Jim called us and gave us updates on our dog so we always felt like we were a part of the training process. When we went to pick them up we could see how well our dogs were treated during the room and board program because our dogs were sad to leave his house. Our dogs have learned so much under this training program such as leash walking, less barking, and honestly just behaving respectfully around others outside. What I loved about this training program is that our dogs were taken outside and trained at public pet-friendly stores and areas as well. We've contacted Jim after the training program was over with questions regarding many different things and he has always helped us because he truly does love dogs as our dogs love him. I would 100% recommend sending your dogs to Arcadia Canine Academy for any training purposes because trust me you will not be disapointed.

Jim Stile of Acadia Canine Academy is truly a wonderful trainer. My dog, Charlie stayed with Jim for 3 weeks and came back to us a brand new dog. Before we could not walk him without him pulling the leash, barking, and constantly jumping at people. Now we can walk him outside and bring him to dog friendly stores and we couldn’t be happier about it.  When we arrived to pick up Charlie I wanted to go over what he has learned so that we can continue his training when he gets home and Jim spent several hours teaching us and answering any questions we had. I mean REALLY he took the time out of his busy day and dedicated it to us. He is knowledgeable and such a pleasure to talk to. I most certainly recommended Jim if you are thinking about training your dog. I was so skeptical of leaving my dog with a stranger because I had such a soft spot for him, but Jim is genuinely such a wonderful person on top of being a top-notch dog trainer and I could tell he really cares for each dog he trains. Jim is a lifesaver. We brought our 5 month old Australian Shepherd to him because we were having some behavioral issues, mostly jumping and barking. During his stay there was an accident and Jim notified me immediately. It was minor but required veterinary attention and Jim took care of it immediately, kept me informed, and covered the vet expense. He also kept him an extra week out of pocket because his injury set him back in training. We left our puppy a hot mess who wouldn't listen and now he is a new dog. I had some issues when first bringing him home reestablishing dominance and I called Jim and he helped me out even after we picked up our dog. I know I can rely on Jim for training and I really recommend him to anyone who needs help with their dogs.

His response time from the moment we reached out was amazing. His interest in helping us and our family did not go unnoticed. Jim genuinely saved my dog's future and gave him a happier one! I was unprepared to help my Malinois puppy with his various behavioral challenges (biting, aggression, fear/lack of confidence) after being attacked by another dog while with a foster family. Jim kept Cooper beyond the program I paid for at his own expense because he did not think Cooper had reached his potential during that time. It was Jim, whose love for all dogs - including mine, who helped me make the heartbreaking decision to re-home Cooper so that he can have a family provide the support and luxury he deserves. We worked with Jim for our 10 month old Bernese Mountain Dog named Meatball, and we couldn't be happier with the results after just two weeks of training. Meatball came home as a new dog, avoiding typical problem behavior such as table surfing, jumping, pulling on leash, etc. Not only did Jim teach Meatball how to be an obedient dog, he also provided tips and resources on how to continue the training to improve upon the base Jim already expertly built for us.
