Great stop for some unique English style beers. Beautiful little family run shop with some of the friendliest and nicest people you will ever meat. The 1914 is absolutely a must have for dark beer drinkers.

This is only a review of the beer, as I've yet to visit their establishment in Keuka which looks really cool!I picked up a 4 pack of their beer at the Windmill Craft Market in Penn Yan this past weekend. The Apple Graff, the ESB, the Mild and the Dorset Summer Ale are the beers I brought home and with the exception of the Summer ale, which I haven't cracked open yet, we both agreed that all have a similar 'twang' to them. It's a cidery, almost sour-ish note present in each of the beers. While it might be a welcome note in certain ales, it seems to hold back the other characteristics one would hope to find in each of the respective styles. Those flavors can be found if you spend enough time sort of working with the beer, but they're definitely muted due to this overwhelming primary flavor. Maybe it's the type of yeast? I'd be interested to try these beers from the tap as opposed to a bottle as bottling can impart some unwelcome flavor byproducts. Lyonsmith seems like a brewery with a truly unique niche in a saturated market which I definitely appreciate, so I look forward to visiting and giving their beer another chance when we're in the area.

This place sets the standard on what a brewery should be. We spent the afternoon trying beers as the owners wife gave us a history of each beer, the business and the area. Not only is this place kicking out tasty brews, but you can legit learn something while you are there. The building and outside area are filled with games for adults and kids. And most amazingly, we enjoyed EVERY beer. Even styles I would normally not enjoy. If you are in the area, or even slightly outside, this place is a must!

Wasted time driving out there to find out that LionSmith can't be bothered to update their website. I guess that it is easier for potential customers to check the sign on their door for their current hours. Another car pulled in while we were leaving and the occupants also stated that their website said they were open. Luckily, they are far from being the only game in town.
