THE STORE IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO ENPTY SHELVES YET!Ransacked the place two days in a row, the store is 50 percent off and closing permanently as of 3/18/2024 wait was two hours today 3/19/24 the wait was maybe twenty minutes home decor and garden is largely untouched I know there's snow on the ground but charcoal on discount is nice laundry soaps are about cleared as well as chips still a ton of medications feminine products party supplies cards ice cream and food including soups breads and baking essentials like flour, coffee and tea clothes

The Gowanda store needs to be cleaned up. Pretty dirty in store. Not like the one in Salamanca that is spotless, clean & well stocked.

I was shopping and listening to a male (I saw him, he was an employee) talking to a female (never saw her, not sure if she was an employee or shopper) the female was coughing continuously, even as she spoke (sounded horse, similar to upper respiratory infection). Contaminated 3 isles of products. 8/17/21. I'm not sharing this information to cause panic, believe it or not colds, chest colds, hey fever, allergies, and fall time illness still exists. I'm sharing it because I worked in a hospital for over 15 years, It sounded like upper respiratory, which is contagious and she was in the isles near food and beverages. If you were in the store on the 17th Raw honey, fresh garlic clove, a lot of broth, green tea, lemon, vitamin C & D. Zinc, Impeccable oral hygiene (floss), little to no sugar, electrolyte beverages, no face mask, instead wear a face shield. Just keep consuming these items for 3 days, you'll be fine. Upper respiratory typically shows up within 72 hours of exposure, these items help fight it. * Please stay home a few days if you were in the food/beverages isles of this store on 8/17. Lets not spread whatever she has. It's common courtesy. I'm also staying home a few days. (Walmart, Tops, Rite Aid, CVS, and more will deliver food and items, no need to leave home).*** Please remember vaccinated people do not have to wear masks nor shields (masks stop nothing, wear a shield unvaxed, you want her cough spittle to hit your mask or shield?!) They still catch stuff like the flu and other seasonal illnesses and they still spread those illnesses through couching ect (just like everyone else), remember this when you bring produce home and bottled beverages. Always clean them, because unless we all start doing what I'm doing here, you never know what you got or where you got it.With that said, the store parking lot has a lot of pot holes, some have been there over 2 years. Some will damage low sitting vehicles, proceed with caution.They do seem short staffed, but a lot of businesses are these days so please prepare for delays.They are still out of fly paper, which seems hard to find these days anyway.It's otherwise a decent store with friendly staff and impatient customers.Please take care of yourselves.

Would give zero stars if I could. Came in 12/9/19 at 12:48pm to purchase laundry soap and an employee who appeared to be a manager was talking with a customer about getting girls’ phone numbers by asking them to clean and interviewing them etc. GROSS! The cashier barely acknowledged me and didn’t say a word to me not even a thank you. Just rang me out and loudly asked the manager if she could go on break now because her feet hurt and then asked if she could cover someone else’s shift.

CHECK EXPIRATION DATES ON THE MEDICINES YOU WANT TO BUY!!!!one time bought something that was over a year out of date! This happened 3 times to us within 6 months.Theyve "U" carts in a lot of the isles making it difficult to get what you need when they do that (not all the time)Definitely understaffed.But good prices and they greet you when you walk in.The employees are helpful and nice.

I purchased a Proctor Silex Durable Can Opener for a church event. Shortly after using it ,it started to smoke and catch on fire. I returned it to the store where i purchased it,Family Dollar in Gowanda and they would not give me my cash back only a replacement. The manager lacked people skills and should be retrained or fired. I shop at Family Dollar on a regular basis and was treated very unfairly by the manager who did not give any reason or explanation on why he would not refund my cash back. The cashiers are always helpful and courteous. This is a management problem.

I was very unhappy to walk in that Gowanda family and see it very dirty the floors were like walking out side on the dirty ground. It made me sick to were I thought I was going to puke.even the cashier was coughing in her hand and tryed to hand me my change back. I was so mad I would not take my change back from her. I walked out and told the cashier I didn't want touch my change she owed me back. I will not be going in that store ever Again !!!!!

Didn't shop there just pulled in parking lot to change Driver as my stepson was driving and I took over as he was tired and I know the area. I don't normally drive at night,but was up in Buffalo NY where my husband is at hospital and GPS took us that route ( which seemed to be the long way around ),but I think I've got to update my GPS !

NEW UPDATE- They now have bags (even plastic, which violates NYS but hey,, who dont).... I do have an issue with the employee who dresses in street clothes...he acts like he's above every employee even the store manager.. Hes rude,, on his phone and throws cardboard on the floor like you're not allowed to shop that aisle. No product, no control.... its a company thing, FD only gives a hindered hours of payroll a week (do the math).... this is why Dollar General will own Gowanda.

Some employees try but they are definitely under staffed. There are carts full of new product in every isle. They need to get alot done before Dollar general comes to town or they will be out of business!!!!

Store needs more employees. Shelves bare a lot of the time. Stock carts always in way can't get shopping carts thru aisles.
