This is the shadiness, most evil pet shop ever. They falsified his record and lied about EVERYTHING he is except his breed. We reached out about a maltipoo because they said he’s over 1 years old and still needs a home. We felt the urge to reach out and give him a loving home. Everything seemed okay until we took the dog to the vet. Turned out this dog was at least 5 years old, super malnourished and underweight to the point he still had some of his baby teeth left. They still charged us $600 for the dog.Funny thing is the shop owner still had the audacity to criticize one of the past owners for wanting to return the dog.I don’t know how this shop is still open being as terrible as they are. Why go into this business when they don’t care about animals at all?We are not going to return him because he deserves a loving home, especially after what he’s been through, but DO NOT go to this pet shop! They should be shut down!

I must say I’m saddened I found out that I’m allergic to Max( Welch Corgi) he was lovable and friendly, including with my grandchildren, never barked . Wee wee pad trained instantly. He loves cuddles ! Again, I am deeply saddened that I won’t be his caregiver anymore. I am glad that the pet shop took Max back in without any hesitation. The owner was understanding, and I appreciate their business .

Great prices for Neon Tetras, the fish are hardy. Attached picture shows a happy Betta. I would recommend the store incorporate live floating plants to do less water changes. The ones in my picture are Pathos, Pearlweed, Java Moss, Hornwort & Duckweed. Plants you can’t see also include Hygrophila polysperma.

Overall I think it's a good place, I buy mice from them every week. And the staff seems really friendly. The good thing is that this is the only place in queens that I know I can always buy a mouse for a reasonable price and they always have them in stock. The only thing I don't like is how they put them in a rice box when you buy them but it's really not that big of a deal.

Northern Aquarium Pet used to be better a decade ago when they had a wider range of fish species. Although the new ownership seems nicer, the fish selection is limited to freshwater species, the store's setup is outdated, but at least their tanks aren't filled with dead fish like larger retailers. Unfortunately, being a local fish store, they are struggling to stay relevant in a changing market. If you're in the area, it's worth a visit, but don't expect anything exceptional.

Decent enough of a selection, the setup is definitely a little outdated but their tanks aren't filled with a ton of dead fish like some major retailers. Plenty of fresh and Salt water fish. Sadly the LFS is a dying breed and there isn't much that can be done. I'd recommend at least checking them out if you're in the area.

The male owner is extremely pushy and impatient. He doesn’t like people to play with the puppies and ask many questions. When he finds out the hesitation from the clients, he instantly takes away the dogs to cage and walk away.I love the puppies here and not confident to get a puppy here because I think he would be hard to deal with in after sale...

Got my puppy from this place in the beginning of this year, within two weeks he passed from parvovirus. This place only returned the cost of the puppy we initially paid for, not one dollar of the $5000 vet expenses we accumulated from trying to save him. When approached the owners were very rude and not at all compassionate they treat puppies only as business. All kept in cages in unsanitary conditions, please do not buy from this place.

I brought my dog from this store. Within a week my dog was very ill and almost died. We had to pay a emergency vet bill of $1,500. They didn’t want to take care of the dog. There is a law that’s states if a pet that was purchased within two weeks falls ill. The store must pay the bills and take care of the pet. They didn’t answer the calls and didn’t want to take care of my pet.

Everytime I come here the owners and workers are polite and they seem informed about the needs of pets. Perhaps their way of communicating is not for everyone but I have never had any issues with this place or their policy about the door. I find it reasonable to reduce the risk of covid19 or theft in this day and age.

Decent pet supply shop. Has a lot of PET SUPPLIES for all sorts of pets; (cats, dogs, birds, fish, pond fish, vegetarian bottom dwelling fish, turtles, surprisingly they have some driftwood branches, rabbits, other small mammals, and I honestly don’t know but they have a large variety of pet supplies at the front of the store near the cashier.)Would not recommend for buying pets. It is much cleaner than before(smells better and the floors are clean). Doesn’t have live plants (there’s a section for plastic ones), but they sell crickets. Funny enough, they had a variety of decent flaked fish food that I could not find at Monster Aquarium Inc in smaller containers. I would come here to buy pet supplies again. They also have a lot of well fed assorted guppies if you’re looking for those.

Terrible experience. I bought a poddle from there and the man said it was healthy, and checked for worms. When I bought the puppy home I noticed my pup coughing and it had blood in its stool. I called the women and she told me it was normal..... um I dont think so I took him to the vet she recommended and he told me he would be fine and gave my pup antibiotics. The next day I took him to another vet and found out he had pneumonia and dehydration. This place is terrible, poor condition I will be reporting!

Plenty of variety; decent customer service, you get assistance immediately & they give you advice when leaving. They have cute puppies.Downside: a lot of signs & prices 4 puppies have no English translation. But for fish, there's translation. Needs better lighting throughout the entire ground floor & chinchillas need bigger enclosure.

This store needs to be shut down ASAP!!! The poor dogs are in the worst condition and they don’t even allow them to get any sunlight because the room they stay in have the windows all boarded up. They are kept in tiny cages and all look very sick. It’s so sad. When I ask about the many cats they keep in one room, they tell me it’s the owners “personal cats” and I think that is very weird. I don’t understand how this place hasn’t been shut down yet. They mistreat animals!

this place is absolutely horrifying. the animals are clearly not cared for and the conditions are far from sanitary. the owner is really suspicious, we saw a bunch of kittens in a room and he claimed they were his personal cats and not for sale. odd. the whole store is a safety hazard for both people and animals. it should absolutely be shut down and i think it’s only a matter of time.

Don’t ever come here to purchase a dog. Dogs are crammed into cages and probably never went outside since the day they were born. Very uneasy gut feeling about the male “Taiwanese” dog owner. The vibes of entering the second floor to take a look at the puppies are not right and feels like I’m in a scam. ADOPT A DOG FROM ADOPTION CENTER IF YOU WANT A PET COMPANION THEY ARE WELL TREATED AND OFTEN VACCINATED AND ENSURED THEY WILL BE THE BEST FIT PET!!!

Can’t speak for the puppy mill issues but the overall vibe of the entire store is incredibly nauseating and unfriendly. Came here one afternoon to buy a hamster and the employees refused to provide me with any kind of service, to the point where I had to ask multiple times for someone to take out the one I wanted (even then, the lady rolled her eyes multiple times as if it was a nuisance and whispered to her friends). The only time they willingly help you is when they take your cash. Also can’t stand the fact that they put my hamster in a super large cardboard box without any holes. A customer should not need to beg in order to buy something from a store. Absolutely disgusting “service”.

We shopped around in every pet shop and local breeder for a new puppy but didn't connect. We tried this place. It is huge and has every possible type of pet supply. They brought us up to the third level where the puppies and kittens were in separate rooms, asked us what kind of dog we wanted, and brought several out into this play area with couches until one of the dogs picked us out. They were the happiest puppies we ever saw and brought home a beautiful cockapoo. He is an active, sweet and healthy little boy and we found our experience here to be excellent.

Yessh, the guy who apparently owns the store, Jimmy, told me that an Arowana needs 75 gallons of water, which is so wrong on so many levels for a 3 foot fish to live in tanks that are barely long enough. I’m editing this a few years later, the new ownership seems kind of nice but the fish selection is exclusively freshwater. This place was much better a decade prior.

This is what to expect for quality from Northern Aquarium. Besides not answering phone number for half the day when trying to call. And their closing time is incorrect: 5pm not 8pm.

Sick dogs from puppy mills. I was charged $1450.00 for a sick dog that I found out was returned several times. This place puts down dogs themselves in the basement if they keep getting returned. My poor puppy had kennel cough, parasites and had to have his leg amputated a month after I got him. I love my dog and would never trade him for anything but the experience at this place was horrible.

They won't let you go in with out an appointment. When you go inside there is not alot of option and smell very bad. A bit overpriced charge 20 dollar for a regular guppy.

PLEASE DO NOT BUY PUPPIES FROM THIS STORE. At first when I came to this store to get a puppy, stuff were very friendly and get me all the puppies I wanted to see and play with. The problem is that the Boston terrier puppy I bought was already infected with PARVO virus and on the second day had diarrhea and vomiting. I did not have any other choice, but to bring him at the emergency clinic at 12 at night. When doctor told me that he is positive for PARVO I wanted to cry. Next day we came back to the store where I met very different looks compared to my initial visit. First I did saw a guy that is taking care of these puppies, I told him that my puppy is sick with PARVO, he reacted crazy, he told me that it cannot be and that this puppy is healthy as all the other puppies they have. I did show him a result from the veterinary clinic, he saw it and run away on the second floor. After about 10 minutes the manager arrived, looked at the puppy and said that he looks very healthy to her. After seeing a result she said that this test is not 100% reliable. I told her that probably a licensed veterinarian knows better what is reliable or not, she closed the topic and offered me money back. She did not want to return the money that I spend for the emergency services to keep this puppy alive saying that we needed to go to their vet that does not operate at night. Basically speaking I needed to wait all night so this puppy will die and bring her the dead puppy. That was crazy experience and I still very disappointed about this poor dog. PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE GOING THERE.

It could look better but they get the job done. I would call ahead to make sure you can get what you need- as they are very Covid-19 conscious. I appreciate their service and will come back when we need to again. Thank you!

As far as fish go, they get a 5/5 stars. Great selection of freshwater and saltwater. I bought angelfish and they are doing well. The staff however is constantly staring at you. Definitely an above average fish store. I do wish they had small Australian arowanas. They have a HUGE one. Also I was greeted when walked in. I personally dint visited the dog section, because I'm a fish person, but I've heard horrible reviews about it.

Went there only to check out the fish selection. Half of the tanks had their lights shut off (probably due to the lack of customers) and the ones that did have their light on showed overpriced fish at average quality at best. They had a lot of old-style equipment (also probably due to the lack of customers) which is interesting if you're looking for something that is hard to find. Will most likely never go back given that there are a handful of other fish stores within 10 minutes that have better prices and selection.Unlike some of the other reviewers, I was not stared down by the workers there. Possible because I'm also Chinese? Who knows.

This place is very sketchy, always seems to be closed. The one time I was able to get inside it was very dirty and the fish tanks had dead fish inside. It makes you wonder if this is a real pet store or a front for something else.

The treatment and care of many animals here (like their parrots, hamsters, and other animals) is awful. The enclosures are extremely small with little to no toys and the small mammals are packed into a small 5 gallon tank. Their lorikeet seems to be plucking it’s feathers and the equipment they sell is very overpriced. (A tiny cup sized bowl was around $8) At least the customer service is good enough.

WORST PLACE EVER !!. DO NOT PURCHASE ANY PETS HERE. Dogs are in very bad condition. I bought a puppy here and brought it home, paid $1200. After bringing him home, the next day he started to look more sick, with symptoms such as runny nose, cough, and diarrhea. I took him to the vet to find out that the puppy had kennel cough as well as parasites. This place is literally hell for animals. They do not take care of the animals there, they barely feed the dogs, and they always keep the dogs in cages. After you buy the puppy they tell you that the puppy may seem sick for a couple of days only because they need to get use to your home but it’s a lie!. This place needs to be shut down ASAP. I will definitely be reporting this place.

The owners only have their minds on money. They view their dogs as merchandise, rather than living animals. The staff was extremely rude on many occasions, and never has my family hated one person so much. Terrible environment for puppies, all of which have kennel cough and who knows what else. Terrible service, never go there
