I’ve been to the Alander 3 times as a hotel guest and to eat on 3 different occasions. (sometimes stay and food were not together!). I love this relaxed and easy space in the middle of farmland and conveniently off the highway! Your hosts are lovely and so are their staff! A great place! ❤️❤️🙌Rooms: Well appointed and comfortable! It is a relief when something is thoughtful and well designed.Nearby activities: Go visit the Wassaic Project, one of the reasons I frequently pass through. They have a wonderful summer art show every year!Food & drinks: Great restaurant and bar on site! Worth just eating at the bar if you can’t get a reservation! Rad and kind bartender!

Absolutely amazing experience at the Alander this weekend! The rooms were clean, updated, and had so many small charming touches. The North Star restaurant was so charming - the bar was cozy, the drinks were delicious, and the meal was absolutely delicious. Every meal we ordered was unique and you could tell the care that went into the ingredient choices and presentation. Everything was piping hot as well. The service was impeccable - Jason, Reid, and the manager, Ann, made us feel so welcome and in great care during our stay. Although it was raining, we loved the courtyard and fire pits and look forward to coming back in the warmer weather!

The Alander is an elegant getaway in the most unassuming of places. A beautiful little hotel appears on the side of the road with a grandiose view of the mountains across. The room was spacious, the beds were comfy, and the amenities were excellent. I really enjoyed the free granola that greeted us after we checked in. I also had a chance to visit the restaurant that’s attached to The Alander, and the food was fantastic! Tasty, fresh, and a beautiful ambiance to accompany it. I totally recommend having a drink (or a few!) at the bar as well. I’m already looking forward to my next stay here. I ran into the owners too and they were the kindest people who made sure that I was having a great time. I absolutely recommend the Alander for anyone looking for a quiet and scenic getaway north of NYC!Rooms: The rooms were quite spacious and had everything you needed. I was a big fan of the comfy beds and soft towels.Nearby activities: Copake is a small town but there is plenty to do if you’re into the outdoors and local dining.Food & drinks: There’s a great restaurant and bar attached to the Alander: the North Star. I loved it! Not only was the food really delicious and the service was great, but the ambiance is so unique. Beautiful art surrounds the restaurant that just makes you want to stay and have more of their excellent drinks. The bar was a great place to hang out after a day of being out and enjoying the surrounding town. Truly a fun way to meet other visitors over a great drink.

This place is amazing! It is easy to find and a short distance away from several different towns and a variety of shops, restaurants, and activities. Neil and Jason are amazing hosts and gave great recommendations for places to go in the area. The best part was having a great dining option on the premises! The food at The North Star was superb and the staff was friendly and welcoming! We can't wait to go back again! Thank you!!

The Alander was perfect for a solo overnight stay in Copake Falls. The area is beautiful, and the lodge itself was a wonderful surprise. In a small and clean space, every comfort and amenity is provided for you- from the cozy bed with fluffy pillows to the well-stocked snack bar and fridge. In addition, the complimentary tea, coffee, yogurt and homemade granola was a delight. Highly recommend!

Reid and Jason are gracious hosts, who had great recommendations to explore the area. The accomodations were rustic but luxurious with modern touches an incredibly comfortable bed and amazing shower. It was too wet to enjoy the fire pit but we will be back. Definitely have a meal at their restaurant onsite. Highly recommend!Rooms: The room is super comfortable with many lovely touches. The bed was heaven and luxurious. Great shower/shower head. A+Food & drinks: The Alander has a very nice upscale restaurant on-site. I had the stuffed papperdelle which was to die for. A nice change from the usual burgers and bar food in the area.

My sister and I needed a little getaway for the weekend. The Alander was such a lovely surprise!! Very impressed with the renovation, decor and especially the little al a cart basket of snacks and drinks to purchase. The complimentary granola and yogurt was the perfect breakfast. My only advice is, move your water kettle before heating. I set off the smoke detector! Oopsie. But at least it worked!!!

Absolutely loved everything about the Alander! Location was great: hiking, shopping, eating! Enjoyed our time exploring the area but really loved coming back to our cozy, well-appointed room. Their outdoor space with multiple fire pits and quiet seating spots made the end of the day lovely. And if that is not enough, the North Star bar and restaurant experience was outstanding. Jason and Reid are such attentive owners who have truly worked hard to make sure their guests have everything they need. Can’t wait to come back!!

All brand new. Definitely going backFood & drinks: The restaurant was perfect, if they didn’t have it on the menu they will make if they can. Atmosphere perfect. Service was great.

Very impressed with how the owners renovated this space. Room was large and furnishings well done. Everything was also very clean. Beds were exceptionally comfortable. We loved that all the places we wanted to visit while in this area were nearby. The owners are very attentive to their guests and are extremely helpful. Will definitely be back. Didn’t get a chance to try their restaurant that will be first on the list when we return! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Great experience here! I was a little nervous since I didn’t know the area but there was a small town right by here, walking trails and more. The check in and check out experience was convenient and great price for a place that allows dogs!Nearby activities: There were food places a couple miles away

The room was very clean and modern. Loved the rain shower head and spacious bathroom. The queen bed was comfy and when you moved the bed didn't squeak to wake up my spouse. The courtyard with fire pits looked very inviting unfortunately it rained the days we were there. Would definitely go back. It was not on a busy road so no load traffic going by.

Our weekend escape to The Alander was nothing short of magical, a true five-star experience! From the moment we arrived, everything was seamless. The check-in process was a breeze, and we were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and comfort of our room. The staff, especially Jason, Reid, and Sherry, were outstanding. They went above and beyond to accommodate our needs, making us feel special and well-cared-for. The attention to detail in the service was remarkable. The in-room entertainment options were excellent, with a TV that offered a wide variety of channels and shows. But the real highlight was the fire pit. The option to choose between wood and propane was a thoughtful touch, and it added a cozy, memorable element to our evenings.Dining at the attached North Star Restaurant was a culinary delight, clearly deserving its own five-star rating. The snacks and coffee provided by The Alander were well thought out, adding an extra layer of comfort to our stay. What truly set this getaway apart was the personalized local guide sent to us upon booking. It was incredibly helpful and enriched our experience, allowing us to explore the best the area has to offer. Our stay at The Alander was undoubtedly one of our favorite weekend getaways from the city. The two-hour drive was well worth the experience of tranquility and exceptional hospitality we encountered. We're already planning our return to this charming retreat. A big thank you to the entire team at The Alander for making our stay unforgettable!XO,Ryan and Deirdre

My wife and I just completed a 3 night stay at this hotel. Our in-laws have a home on Robinson’s Pond and we are not good house guests. So we decided to stay at the Alander near their home. The hosts and staff were extremely nice and accommodating. The rooms were clean and recently renovated. We made use of the fire pit outside our room, and it was a nice touch. We used their restaurant/bar tice during our stay, and it was A+ on every level. The SMART TV only has cord cutter options, but that wasn’t a problem for us because we were able to access our streaming channels via our subscriptions, and there are many free options via PlutoTV and some others. My only suggestion would be for them to somehow restructure things so that they can have a spacious suite available. My wife and I are used to spacious suites, but in all fairness to the hotel, the rooms were a good size (300sq ft and 325 sq ft) compared to typical standard rooms in other hotels. They have a great restaurant and bar. Overall, highly recommended ---We give this hotel 5 stars.

Such a lovely spot. Owners are very responsive. The bedding was comfortable, the toiletries smelled great. I loved the courtyard design with the Adirondack chairs and fire pits, a great place to enjoy my (complimentary) Harney and Sons tea. Perfect location for day trips, and they included a great personalized map with suggestions. We will definitely return.

I recently traveled to the The Alander and I'm already planning a trip back. Check in was very easy and the room was a wonderful getaway. The owners were very friendly and even spent time with the guests in the evening getting to know them and starting a fire for us. The room was super cozy and very clean. It also had the cutest sitting area. It was very easy to get to and from The Alander to nearby towns. I wasn't there long enough to be able to enjoy their new restaurant but I've heard that the food is delicious. I wish I could give The Alander more than 5 stars. Thank you Reid and Jason for a wonderful experience!

Super easy check-in process. Beautifully furnished rooms with gorgeous bathrooms, fabulously comfortable beds and pillows, and impeccably clean. A really delightful stay. Being near a main road, while it was fine for me, if you are sensitive to occasional road noise in evening or morning then choose room with courtyard view as it will be quieter.Would definitely stay again :)

We had a wonderful stay at the Alander. Beautiful comfortable room! Hats off to the interior designer! Easy communication with booking the room. They very graciously upgraded us because of some difficulty on their end with a King Size room. We brought our Newfoundland dog and he loved the room and a walk around the grounds too. Comfortable bed, great coffee, and good water pressure for the hot shower. Nothing but love from this happy customer.

This place is a gem. My family of four stayed in two rooms this past Monday on a warm summer day. Both rooms were beautifully and tastefully renovated with such care it offered the most memorable stay. And on a hot humid day, the air conditioning and room offerings kept us perfectly comfortable. The grounds were large with fire pits and lights to socialize at night and the rooms themselves were so large, they have lounge areas and sleeping areas all in one. The shower was the best motel shower I have ever used equipped with a generous amount of towels. The rooms had a variety of things for purchase for really fair pricing plus free delicious coffee and tea you can make on your own. You can tell the owners don't just want to provide you with a great stay, they want to provide you an experience. Highly recommend.

We wanted to get away from the city for a night and could not have had a better experience. You can check in and check out from your phone, and you get a unique door code so you don’t even have to speak to anyone if that’s your thing. But if you do happen to run into the owners, Reid and Jason, they are so friendly and welcoming! The rooms are super cozy and if you’re looking to socialize there’s fire pits and chairs to enjoy. The lodge itself is really accessible to a lot of nearby towns and they even provide a map highlighting things to do nearby. They also recently opened an amazing restaurant, North Star, that’s a must during your stay. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Had a wonderful stay at the Alander in May! We were looking for an affordable but quality accommodation within driving distance of hiking trails in northwest CT/southeast NY. The Alander was perfect. The property was wonderful with a lovely mountain view and a beautiful courtyard where we were able to sit out, eat, drink and enjoy the evening. The room interior was uniquely decorated, charming, and clean, and we loved the shower-head! We got to meet Reid while we were there and he was super friendly and helpful with any questions we had about the area. Definitely recommended and we are hoping to return.
