I was just walking off Hicks on my way to the R station after picking up a cheap shelf from Marketplace — I saw a very content beautiful coated black cat sitting on the stoop, walked in, and then was greeted by just about the nicest person. He was very kind to every customer walking in and seemed to know everyone by name, happy to see to their pets as well. He has a sparkle in his eye and his name is Sam. I didn’t plan on going here but if I’m not mistaken this might be the most pleasant experience I’ve had at a pet store in all of NYC so far, in less than 15 minutes. Who would have thought someone who isn’t a little misanthropic could run a pet store. I walked away buying two cans of very nice food, well priced, and plan on getting back soon even if it’s three stops further from my usual store.

Sam is a warm, neighborly beacon of Brooklyn Heights. The prices may be more than what you might find on Chewy, but Sam remembers you and your pets and that’s what makes the fabric of a neighborhood. Plus the shop cat is amazingly non-plussed, in typical cat fashion. Classic cat, warm proprietor.

The Best Pet Store EVER!!! Sammie is very knowledgeable in all his products and even animal issues, one of my dogs developed a rash and Sammie suggested home remedy to me and it worked, save me hundreds of dollars if I had gone to the Vet, I have been shopping with him for the last 20 years even after moving to New Jersey I still come to him to get all my pets needs!!!

Sam is incredibly warm and friendly. Knows my name and my dog. Always has a treat for her and a big smile. The store is well stocked and if there's anything you want or need, he will find it and order it for you. They deliver too, and once the delivery person wasn't in, so Sam closed the store and walked my dog food over himself. And he refused to take my tip. More business should be like this.

Stopped in this afternoon and am so glad I did. They have a great selection of food, treats and toys for both cats and dogs. Better than petsmart/petco - I found several treats/flavors by our fav brands that I never knew they had! The second we walked in, Sam greeted me and my two girls with a smile and treats. He asked my name & my girls' names, and introduced himself. It's a great feeling being more than just a customer. I'm so happy this is in our neighborhood!

Very odd that this is a pet store- there is no name just a piece of paper on the window stating "pet emporium"It's sloppy with boxes all over. To me boxes and food is a magnet for roaches to reproduce. I would never bring food from this store into my home.I also feel the owner has a big mouth and gossips the neighborhood. I was in the store to check out it out. VERY high prices and overheard a useless conversation which should never have been discussed.

I live in the area and wanted to support a local pet store rather than going to a larger one for my pet supply needs but when I called to see if they have something in stock, the guy was extremely rude on the phone. In short, I'm disappointed and I certainly will not be going there.

Walked to the shop at 12:30 to see a paper sign in the door saying it's closed for an hour. Stay open during your posted hours. Total waste of time. You lost a customer.
