Sad to see the few neg reviews on here, I can tell you it must be a bad apple or two that I have just been fortunate to not encounter. I have NEVER had a bad experience at either old or new store, and actually seem to get the same "small town" friendly and helpful experience each and every visit to the new store.

Been doing business with Phillips hardware for years now, and it’s always been such a great family feel! It’s horrible to see what has happened there these past few months. I had an awful encounter with an employee at this store. He was a short man with long hair. Left Phillips with a bad taste in my mouth. Never imagined I would receive such disrespect from a mom and pop shop. This employee acted annoyed when I asked for help and had an aggressive tone with me. Unfortunately, this is not the first time this specific employee has treated my family and I with disrespect. I thought he was no longer employed there since I haven’t seen him in the last few trips to Phillips Hardware. Not a store I look forward to walking into anymore.(Edit) Of course just like I figured. No response, no one even cares how their employees treat the customers.

Prepare to be impressed. My first visit to the store had me standing in the aisles, exclaiming surprise. The available merchandise was a vast array of about all you would need for your home projects. The staff was helpful and very friendly.

Amazing service. After arriving with a wardrobe issue (we lost a shoe!), they helped us find our perfect paint. Always a neighborhood feel. Wonderful store!

Excellent Hardware Store to do business with. The Help is very good, and will assist you on whatever you need. If they do not have it they will order it for you. Always did like the store in Altamont, now they are in a bigger store which carries more now. Will definately be going back to do more shopping there. John, you Store is great and good luck getting your Deer this year. Hello everyone again at Phillips. You have as always a Super Store. Just stopped by to get my Rock Salt. Many items to choose From. I will definitely be going back and soon.

Good service at first…. Kid at the register cross threaded my propane tank requiring a repair. Please only have properly trained personnel fill propane tanks. It can be quite dangerous otherwise.

This is a really nice upgrade to the hardware store that was here years ago. Missing a few niche items, but not too many (I needed button cap nails for instance, but didn't have them). But was super nice and had everything else.

Congratulations! 2nd time here, and both times, employees were the most miserable and unhelpful people I've ever encountered in a hardware store. Consider hiring older people who occasionally smile and offer assistance.

Just wow. Classic hardware store with service like it used to be. They have everything you could ever want inside of the store. I was amazed that there were great gift items. If you have an EV vehicle they have free chargers.

New hardware store right next to the old store.So much bigger. Big selection and great staff.Prices are what you would expect from a neighborhood hardware store but with the price of gas going way up it makes more sense to shop here and your supporting local businesses.Well done!

I have been going to A.Phillips hardware store for as long as I can remember, always friendly, always helpful, and polite. went to the new store three times. It is a genuinely nice clean large bright store filled with products. The problem is they've gotten so big they forgot where they came from. Employees are rude, act as if I am bothering them by asking for assistance, the prices increased (I'm sure to pay for the new building) They need to spend some money on training. If I want the big box store to rip off, I'd go to a big box store. Incredibly sad for the family to ruin what was a great mom and pop shop. Save yourself the trouble travel to another small hardware store where they'll care or visit Lowes/Home Depot and save $$$$$$ I am sure the family will read this post and not reply it's not 5 stars...............

So paid 150 to philips hard to repair my push mower .Took it home runs till you empty the bag ,then it doesn't start again for hours or and if it's used to mow the culvert it stalls at an angel .Been in 4 times now and ask for someone to call me so it can be fixed .Left my number with 4 different employees only 1 seem to really care and needless to say no one has still called. The reason this bothers me so is the owner knows about this and has done nothing about it he seems to think because he's farming out the work he has no liability but what he neglects to acknowledge is he makes money off the deal ,the mower was to you the receipts from you and you whom I trusted to repair my mower and now that they've taken the money then want to claim no liability in addressing the problem .So they've now left me with no other choose but to complain to the attorney general consumer complaints and then the better business .Isn't it funny when you needed the communities help you was talking then!
