I was ripped off here. I needed a 36x36 inch sheet of plexiglass cut into at LEAST (six) 12x12 inch squares. I was going to keep the remainder of the sheet (after my 6 squares were cut). I asked if they could do that, they said yes. After cutting the 6 squares, I was charged for the WHOLE sheet despite only getting 6 squares; they kept the rest! When asked why I was shorted, they acted like they were doing me a favor by shorting me and not charging for the 5 minutes of labor they did. Not only should you tell your customers UP FRONT that you charge for labor, you shouldn’t short them the material they requested as a substitute for that apparent labor charge. These are incredibly shady business practices.

I needed white 3 tab shingles for our garage at Elephant Butte so I called the store and spoke with Keith. He said they would be $22 a bundle. I told him we would be in to pick up on Thursday afternoon April 6. We arrived about 2 pm. After arriving we were told that they did not have any white in their inventory. Keith did not offer any explanation just that they did not have. He did not say he was sorry or that he could order and have them in by a certain date. Nothing! Very disappointing since we had scheduled a roofer to make our repairs.

The manager is very helpful and the employees are friendly and informative. The only drawback is there is not a wide range of each type of household diy project items, such as Entry Doors, Toilets, Tiles, Carpeting, etc.. but overall, a great place to do your shopping for basic home and yard maintenance items.

I've been going to Raks since they were Tremart (over 30 years). It has all the feel of a small town hardware/lumber store (I hate HD and Lowes). Some times you have to wait for them to ship in what's needed but what you get is frequently higher quality than the box store. Just ordered some baltic birch plywood that's better (flatter, better laminate etc) than you can get in the box stores for the same price.
