Went to the Yin Yoga, Tea, and Sound Bath. Amazing experience and true definition of self-care. As a mental health worker and addictions counselor in the community of Las Vegas, NM I know self-care is essential and it is what we do to help our mindset. Mindfulness in being in control of the mind and in the present moment. This experience will take you there… it will bring peace, compassion, validation, and gratitude. I 100% recommend!

Amazing property, very sweet people who take care of the ranch. Coming from someone who lives in the city, this getaway is a must see! The duck eggs were marvelous! 10/10

We had an excellent time at LDR. An great place for a family reunion. Plenty of room for the 17 out of state guests who stayed at the ranch, plus the 12-15 day visitors who joined us for dinners. Everyone absolutely loved the property. The main house is gorgeous with a huge kitchen, big enough to cook for large groups. There was lots to do around the property, including hiking, playing horseshoes, hot tub, shooting range and other activities that you can arrange with the host. Or, if you prefer, just sit back and relax on the huge wraparound porch. We are hoping to make this a biannual event. Thanks Colin!

Beautiful property. Love sunrises and sunset views on the ridgeline and the yoga deck! Wild Sol Sanctuary has intuitive and highly skilled healers, and the pups on the property are sweet, even though Rumi barks upon arrival.

I recently was a guest at LDR, I was welcomed by the friendly staff, after I was shown to my room, I took advantage of the amenities on the ranch like the hot tub, and The reiki sessions, overall the LDR was great for a mental health vacation. Definitely coming again. Thank you Mr Colin Masterson 🇺🇲♥️😎🇺🇲

Superb experience. Beautiful ranch. Amazing art. Collin is a gracious, considerate, conscientious host. His ranch has been used as a location for many movies. We had a destination wedding there. Collin built us a magnificent bonfire at night. We enjoyed fresh eggs for breakfast. Cannot recommend Leaping Deer Ranch enough. There is a lot of history in the surrounding area as well, i.e. Las Vegas NM.

Beautiful place to go to yoga or get energy/body work done. Shami is an amazing healer! I stayed for a week and the grounds are beautiful and there are so many funs things to do on the ranch such as hike, play horseshoes and on the seesaw. It's a perfect place for a wedding, family reunion, or group vacation.

Gorgeous ranch and Colin was an excellent host. Fresh chicken eggs in the morning accompanied by beautiful sunrises! Hiking, hot tub, bon fire pit and a shooting range on the property. We were able to feed the rescued horses treats as they roamed the property. The house is very well maintained with spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. Highly recommended!

Simply beautiful and breathtaking. Just finished a 4 day stay here for a family gathering of 16 people coming from California, Oregon and Arizona! There was plenty of space and many comments on how wonderful everything was. Lots of beds, plenty of bathrooms, bed sheets, towels and kitchen items all provided! Breakfast was made for us two of the mornings that was so fresh and delicious. We loved watching the horses, sunsets, getting up for the sunrises and the bonfire our last night complete with s’mores was the best way to end. We all look forward to returning!

The Leaping Deer Ranch is an amazing place to stay to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city! It is so peaceful and serene being in the house to relax and even more so outside to take in the natural surroundings. The house is beautiful and very spacious so that it allows people to interact together comfortably or to find your own quiet space. The the owner, Colin and the Ranch Manager, Fred, are wonderful people who have taken a family ranch to the next level to share with others as a Bed n Breakfast.I highly recommend a stay at the Leaping Deer Ranch... you won't be disappointed!

What a great experience! The fresh air and fresh eggs were a real treat. And sitting on front porch (with a favorite beverage) looking out over the ranch made me realize how insignificant I really am!! Thoroughly enjoyed the hike up "Fluffy Trail", the shooting range, the hot tub, and the peacefulness of the country. Wonderful time!

This is our second year in a row that a group of 19-25 of us have come and spent 3-4 nights at the lodge. It’s a great place for cooking together, hosting a large number of people, and finding little books for yourself. The hot tub, the front porch, the living arrangements, and scenery are without question some of the best I have ever stayed in. This past time, Collin was able to also set up our lift passes to Sipapu ski resort - saving me quite a bit of time and money. Would recommend to anyone and will hopefully be coming back one day soon.

This place is AMAZING!!!! The people are so nice and they did so much for us. The house is really big and really nice, and the kitchen is huge which is perfect for a baker like me. They take great care of everything from the animals to the huge house to even the guests. I had a great time here and I definitely want to come back!-Audrey Chase

Amazing views and spacious home. The house was very well kept and having a large back yard to explore was amazing. The dining room and kitchen were great for having large family meals. The only downside is you have to drive for awhile to get to cities.

I taught 2 sessions here for a retreat with Diana Vasquez ministries. We didn’t bring a projector for the presentations so the staff provided one for us. The property is gorgeous, the staff is helpful and it was an amazing experience! I highly recommend Leaping deer ranch for your next event.

My family just stayed here and we had a good time being all together, but what we thought we were getting was not what we got. First off, there is no outdoor pool! Don't bring your swimsuit, because the hot tub doesn't work, and according to the owner it breaks all the time. It said on the site that he had a certain number of queen beds, but when we got there he had one less than what he said, so we had to rearrange all the room assignments. Therefore, my family had to move from the main house to the apartment next to it. The main house had mouse traps. During our stay in the apartment we caught at least 5 mice, and had to dispose of them ourselves. Which is a safety hazard. The outside is not dog or kid friendly for the fact that there's cactus everywhere and scorpions. The artwork and decorations are easily reached by children and are easily breakable. The dishes provided in the main house were located low on the island and easy for children to break. We weren't allowed to move the furniture inside to make it possible for the family to be together. The "movie room" only had a small couch. The tv was not set up when we got there, and there was a constant loud buzzing noise. The owner gets to decide when you can have a fire. And we didn't know there was construction going on so there was a giant hole in front of the house that we had to make sure the children didn't fall into. The owner never gave an apology for the hot tub, the mice, the missing bed, or the issues with the tv. The owner lives next to the property and him and his workers were always around which was very uncomfortable. Even though we were disappointed we were truly shocked that the bill was a thousand dollars more than what we had expected. When we signed up we selected the button 16+ people, because that's what we had. There wasn't any additional information or fees if you had more than 16 people. We paid in full before our visit, and even when we mentioned how many people were coming the owner didn't tell us any other information. As we were checking out the owner said that we needed to pay him more because we had more than 16 people. If you go to the site now it has an extra fee for more than 16 people, but this happened we had already paid in full. He gave no warning that we would have more charges until checkout. Lastly, we had an item (small decor item) broken during our stay and a replacement was purchased to replace it, but he still wouldn't give us our 200 dollar deposit because an item was damaged. We cleaned up after our stay, but he still told us to help move tables and chairs when we were supposed to be leaving, because it would take less time for him. Overall, we weren't happy about the dishonesty that went on.

My friends and I had an awesome time at Leaping Deer Ranch. We really needed an escape, a quaranteam away from quarantine. The ranch was perfect. My favorite part was the kitchen, very well equipped and so comfortable to cook in. We would definitely come back.

We spent 4 nights at the Leaping Deer ranch in late August 2019 - 17 of us, including 7 children ages 2.5 - 12, and 5 couples among my siblings, mother, and me. The ranch is truly as beautiful as it looks. It is also quite as remote as it looks, both of which were substantial positives for us.Take the following lists with a grain of salt - the short is that we were nothing but utterly happy with our stay at the ranch. Even in the middle of nowhere (read: paradise at the confluence of the eastern NM llano and the back side of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range), our kids were NEVER bored, and all were happy and entertained. Colin, whose residence is on the property (he was quite inconspicuous and never engaged us unless we made a request - a relief from my standpoint).High points:- The 360 degree wraparound deck cannot be understated in its value-added to the home. With the front deck facing due east to catch the early morning sun (great for chilly 6500’ mornings) and the back deck westward facing up the mountain, there was always a cool side and a warm side, and comfy furniture for all of us. We are outside for every meal - why east I side when you’ve got such an accessible environment at your fingertips?- Beds were comfy, even the extras/pullouts that a few of us (self included) used. Sheets were high quality and clean.- The interior of the house is spacious, beautiful, and well-decorated. Leather furniture in the entry and in the dining room (not that we used the latter), and nice fireplaces.- The kitchen is spacious, well laid-out, and excellently stocked. Two sinks, two dishwashers, two coffee pots. Lots of good knives and tons of whatever you need. We ate like royalty using the kitchen’s amenities and the brand new barbecue grill. When gas ran out halfway through slow-cooking our ribs, one of Colin’s colleagues had the LP replaced within 3 minutes from my text, no exaggeration.- Kids loves that we could feed table scraps to the dozen or so chickens in the coop, and that we were allowed to bring in and use any eggs that we found. Similarly, feeding the wild horses was an exciting experience - Colin gave us a bag of treats and pointed out the horses a quarter mile out on the farm, carousing with the adjacent farm’s horses. We trudged our to them, and they came up to us promptly when they realized we had the treats. Almost belligerent (take note if your little kiddos are afraid of large animals), but eager to retreat once we ran out of treats.- The hiking and bouldering behind the house was great, even for my 8yo twins.- Kids loves the rock maze that Colin built.- Hot tub was hot (103f) and quite clean. This made for FABULOUS stargazing - the Milky Way was so prominent as to make normally visible constellations invisible. No low points. Room for improvement/other, below:- The cottage that is attached to the main house is just fine for overflow, and it’s where I stayed with my piece of the family. The bathroom was large but the tub was slow to drain - advises Colin of this and I suspect it’s already been fixed. This was a minor complaint with innumerable other bathrooms/showers available.- The TV is newer and has built-in Roku and Netflix, but is set up to use your own username and password. This was annoying but ultimately a good thing that I’d actually include in the “high point” list - who comes to a place like this to watch tv? We brought dvds for the kids for night time, and the rca cable didn’t seem to be shielded, so there was a serious buzz to the audio. I happened to have a spare hdmi cable, and using this eliminated the issue. I advised Colin of this, too, so hopefully it was fixed. In all seriousness, this place will be hard for us to exceed as a quiet, beautiful, pleasant place to visit as a family, and I expect we will be back. It’s hard to please everyone in a big family, and Colin accomplished this. He was exceptionally responsive and gracious, pleasant and polite. Put together a bonfire for our kids to roast marshmallows. Can’t thank him enough. Well played, Colin!
