Great small campground just a couple of miles from the Bosque del Apache NWR. Flat gravel parking lot with hookups, clean bathroom and shower, plenty of hot water. Billy the owner is great and we enjoyed talking with him.If you're there for birds, you won't be the only one driving out an hour before dawn -- lots of folks staying here are doing the same thing. The wildlife refuge was terrific for cranes, swans, and various puddle and bay ducks.

Out of the way place. Very quiet, but there is a train. Owner is super cool. Nearest atm or decent store is in Socorro. We have been here a month enjoyed our stay.Walkability: Wildlife refuge next door. I walk all over the property.Noteworthy details: Its a nice simple place. Owner is the nicest guy. Hot in summer. Only 2 other quests all friendly. We had a nice relaxing month. He placed us under the tree.

If you enjoy bird watching and photography this is the place. Motorcoach facilities are basic full hookups on a gravel lot ...no frills. Close to expressway, but far enough away not to hear the traffic noise

We loved it. It was quiet and Billy was the nicest guys ever. The bathrooms were clean but since there were full hookups at each site we only checked them out. We loved seeing the quail and other birds everymorning and every evening. No bangs and whistles like swimming pools or the such but nice and quiet able to enjoy nature. Will definitely go there again

Borders the Wildlife Refuge and owned by Gambles Quail that are all over the park. Spacious gravel sites with a very accommodating owner. We had two dogs and had lots of room to get them out. We stayed 4 nights and yes there’s trains,1 or 2 a night, but no road traffic and very quiet otherwise. We didn’t use the restroom but they appeared clean with one small shower. You can’t beet the location for access to the Refuge. As I said lots of quail, roadrunner, curved bill thrasher and several other species in the campground.

Great place to stay when you need red chili. Bill was very helpful and wants to help you through out your stay. Fun guy to visit with. He even hopped in the truck with me to show me all the chili fields around the area. Will definitely stay here whenever we come for chili again.Make sure if you come, go drive thru the San Lorenzo Canyon. Beautiful!

Fact first then opinion. This spot is very close to the national wildlife area. Very basic gravel sites. Few rigs in late Sept. 2021 so quiet. The trains are all night long. Depending on who you ask, 6 to 11 or 12 each night. The wildlife area was closed and uncared for. Owner seems to be very honest and friendly. Opinion. OK for a night or two. We stayed 2 nights in late Sept. 2021. The trains kept me awake most of the night. We were in the very most outer site next to the ranch so the cows in the early morning calling for their calf's finished what the trains started. No sleep. And then..... the field mouse who found it's way in, that we didn't discover for two nights. It tore up our entire pantry. After the destruction it had to be whacked. I would not stay again.

Sweet little RV park super close to the Bosque. Clean restrooms and showers (after two days of boondocking, that’s what I mostly came for!). The owner Billy is a sweet guy with fun stories if you have the time to slow down and hang out.It is near some train tracks, but I’m quite used to that sound, so I’m not going to deduct a star for somebody else’s problem. 😜 I slept great.I can’t address the hookups, as I didn’t need them. But the other people here seem happy and content.

Small park, all gravel pull through sites, a mix of 30 and 50 amp. The gateway into the park is a little on the narrow side, once into the park it is easier to navigate. Check in was fast and friendly. There was a little mix up on our site - we were told to take site 11 but there was already someone in that spot, but it all worked out. We were in Site 15 gravel, level and full hook-ups. No problems with the hook-ups. Plenty long enough for our 37' Class A, tow-dolly and parking the car. Sites are nice and wide. The park is quiet but there is a train across the street that runs all night long and is very loud. There is no laundry or WiFi. Plenty of places to walk the dog and even spots to run off lead. We stayed October 25-27,2017 and paid $27.50 a night with no discount.

You can't get closer to Bosque del Apache. Spacious sites, specially under the beautiful Mulberry tree. A laid back spot with full hookups, great views and good people. The best burgers can be had at the Buckhorn in San Antonio.

Simple gravel lot with water and electric hookups.Very friendly and helpful owner.$30 per night.Safe spot for the night next to wildlife refuge. Sandhill cranes were everywhere when we were here. Passing freight trains are kinda loud, but otherwise peaceful.

This is a very basic RV park which worked out great for us while traveling on I-25. We just needed a safe, quiet place with hookups for one night. Owner was very friendly and helpful. Cost $22. Please note that it is 3 miles south on Road 1 (not 0.8 miles as indicated on Google maps). It is a gravel lot between some cow pastures. There is a nearby train track but we only heard one train pass during the evening. We did not use the bathrooms, so cant say what they are like. Would stay here again.

Basic gravel site, full hookups, pull through. Owner Bill is a fine friendly most helpful gentleman and we enjoyed our blessedly quiet stay and chats with him. Yes theres night train but youre not next to highway like 98 percent of other sites.

My husband and I are on a cross-country trip and Billy’s hospitality was fantastic. The park was quiet and even when we arrived very late, Billy saw to it that we were settled in. What a wonderful place for stargazing and getting back to nature. Will stay there again.

Great owner, quiet place, right next to the famous Bosque del Apache wildlife refuge. Owner keeping the place uncrowded and natural. Nice view of nature all around. This isn't a posh resort. Rustic, natural, basic....perfect for those that want to feel like they are camping (but with amentities)

We stayed here while visiting Bosque del Apache and were very pleased. Full hookups and gravel, level sites. Quiet and peaceful with beautiful views of the mts. The owner stopped by to check and make sure we were comfortable. Basic park but served our purpose very well. Highly recommend if you are visiting BDA.

ITS OPEN AGAIN!!!!!! What a wonderful experience we had at the RV park. The pwner Bill is a Very generous and kind man that likes to converse. He made the experience even more enjoyable. The park was very dog friendly and a great place to unhook to explore the VLA, Saccuro (Mineral Museum), and the Bird Park. Ths local resturant Owl Bar and Cafe are known for their chili cheese burger. Not for their steaks, not recommended.
