The person who works there (Jennifer I think) is dishonest at best. She told us explicitly that the adoption fee covers sterilization, even though it does not. That fee only covers small dogs, not large ones. She further implied that the rabies booster was covered as well, which it was not. We were told that we could "return the dog at any time and for any reason" if it did not work out. Well, the dog we adopted, a lovely Pyrenees, had previously been abused and for that reason we could not keep her as she would be a hazard to our children. So when we tried to do the responsible thing and bring her back (including a donation of nearly a hundred dollars of dog food) we get interrogated about why she isn't fixed yet - it's because you lied to us about that, Jennifer... That's why. And then we are told that actually they wont even take her back (is that lie number three?). Well, a bit of a discussion over the phone and now suddenly they CAN take her back, what do you know about that?This place is either:A:) shady as heckorB:) completely ignorant of their own policies, contracts, and promises.Either way, I'd recommend adopting off of someone's craigslist ad before going to this place.1 star is to generous.

We had a wonderful experience at the Mountainair Animal Control Shelter! We adopted a sweet little dog. She had worms at the time and they made sure to get me what I needed to treat her! The shelter was clean and the dogs seemed happy!

Kenny is just great! It was a wonderful experience to save a puppy here. The dogs are treated exceptionally well and the adoption was a smooth experience. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a new family addition.

Steve and the volunteer staff were wonderful! The dog we were interested in wasn't compatible with our 12 year old Lab, but the kindness and caring of Steve and the volunteers was very evident.

The kennels were very cleanThe dogs have access to inside and outside in their kennels, which are a very good size.They get walked / socialized daily.
